Maximilian in Oberammergau

🌍
Germany, Oberammergau, Ettaler Straße, 5
● Center: 300 m

Rooms are spacious, clean, and equipped with modern features like heated floors and automatic window shades. The restaurant receives high praise for Bavarian dishes, microbrewery beers, and an exceptional breakfast with a hot menu. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, attentive, and accommodating, with special mention of quick service during unexpected situations. The spa area, including sauna and massage, is appreciated for its comfortable size and relaxing atmosphere. Guests enjoy the hotel’s central location for easy access to town amenities and scenic mountain views from some rooms and balconies. Some guests noted noise from the street and from kitchen activities in rooms above the restaurant, especially in the early morning. Design of some bathrooms includes windows into the room, which might be uncomfortable for guests sharing rooms with non-partners. A few reviews mention inconsistent restaurant service, including delayed meals and inattentive staff on the patio. Parking in the hotel lot costs 5 Euros per night, which some guests found inconvenient. Spa opening hours start at 3 pm, which may limit early day use.

Great hotel, great service, delicious breakfasts, everything you need. The spa area is nice, not too big, not too small. Definitely worth a visit. I recommend the hotel!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Hotel Maximilian-

First off, everything worked. I know this seems trivial, but so often I find that a hotel ends up having neglected features...this was NOT the case at Maximilian. All the niceties like heated tile floors, automatic window shades between the bathroom and bedroom, all the spa features, etc. It was all appreciated and lovely.

Second, the view from our room (I recommend room 304!) was amazing. Along with the church bells, it made for the perfect morning wake up.

Lastly, the service was great. Our daughter unfortunately got a little sick during our stay which caused a bit of a mess in our room. The staff were incredible quickly replacing our sheets and bedding so that we were 100% comfortable. A+ to the team at this hotel.

Thank you!

Beautiful setting in Oberammergau, this hotel is in a perfect location to walk all over the town. Hiking trailing are close by and you can even walk to Ettal Monastery if you are motivated. Great bar and restaurant although I prefer to have drinks there and eat at different establishments throughout the town. I want to thank Emane who checked us in and took great care during our stay.
Room we had was spacious with a great view of the town and the Kofel mountain. The balcony was nice even though it was too cold to sit outside without Gluwein. The only downside I can mention is you had to pay to park in their lot...5 Euros a night, but this is minor and would not prevent us from saying there is the future.

Nice location and amenities. Bathroom in room is a little weirdly designed as there are windows into the room so your companion can see you using the bathroom. Fine for us but some people might not like it especially if you are traveling with a friend, not a partner. We were extremely disappointed when they said they take AmEx and the day we checked out it “didn’t work” and had to use another card. Fine if we knew up front but now we lose points for a larger purchase.

The rooms are very nice, the restaurant and staff is amazing. People should appreciate more this place. Very near to town center and we had a couple of lovely days here, including the lovely spa area. Breakfast was very good too.
