Hotel Roter Hahn in Regensburg

Brilliant location, central in the old town. If coming by car & have a parking space booked, you'll drive through the pedestrian area to get to the car park
Very close to both the central christmas markets, and only 1km walk to the Thurn & taxis market.
Main door to hotel not totally obvious, big glass door that matches the shop next door.
Excellent breakfast but coffee not very flavoursome or strong.
Lift to 1st & second floors only, then stairs for next 2 floors.
Bed very comfy. No mini fridge or coffee/tea making facilities.

Regular here. It's an old building, be aware of that. That's it for the criticism. Praise starts here: Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are quiet. Breakfast is one of the best in Bavaria. Ask for the Eggs Benedict! If you want an extraordinary experience book a table for dinner, it's truely excellent!

Booking.com shows the rooms have A/C but they don't. The reception was able to bring us a fan which helped. It is definitely worth it to pay for a reserved parking space in their lot.

This is mainly a review of the restaurant

We stayed for new year (Silvester) and had the most amazing dining experience. The set taster menu was truly a feast with many additional extras and accommodation for dietary requirements (pescatarian). We had the wine pairing which was excellent with some really unusual and special wines.

Service was excellent- prompt but not intrusive, the sommelier was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Timing was perfect for midnight celebration

Breakfast the next morning was delicious and plenty of choice

We booked quite late and had a small room. It was fine but a little noisy with other guests as the beautiful old building is definitely not sound proof.

Staff were polite and attentive and considerate when we wanted to speak German, ensuring we understood.

Location is very central and easy to get to from the train station (one bus). We didn’t spend much time in Regensburg as most attractions were shut on 1st Jan , but will definitely return as plenty to explore.

Wonderful way to spend new year

Central location, 20min walk from hbf, clean comfortable rooms however noisy if you need to keep your windows open, no ac.
The breakfast was very good.a good assortment with omelettes or hb eggs and the European usual

In the middle of the beautiful down town city. Walking distance to all amenities. Amazing service from all hotel staff, delicious and fresh breakfast. We stayed with two kids and the hotel was very accommodating to our little ones. Over all an excellent experience at the hotel.
