Very nice and friendly owners with a truly extensive breakfast buffet that caters to every need. Great value for money! Nice rooms and comfortable beds that provide a great night's sleep.

Room was good, mattresses were also OK, it was pleasantly quiet, service was very good, hosts were very nice and helpful. Breakfast is very good and plentiful, also good for bikers, we have our own garage for the bikes, we recommend going out to eat at Restaurant Hirsch, as breakfast is only available in Hotel Engel. But that wasn't a problem, the food is very good, the Altenauer Dunkel beer tastes...

Nice hotel in the center of Altenau. Run by two super nice and nice people. I just showed up spontaneously and got a room without any problems. The rooms are fine and adequately equipped for just staying overnight. Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Went like that. If you are really hungry, you will not be full. I was looking forward to home-style cooking, but unfortunately the brawn was a ready-made product and the fried potatoes saw the pan far too short and the portion was very clear. But the service was nice.

We spent our short break in the Harz Mountains here. The owner gave us a friendly welcome and was always up for a chat. Our room was beautifully decorated with nature pictures, and the modernized bathroom was also very stylish. Breakfast was plentiful. There are a few parking spaces right by the house. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back :-)

We lived in a large nice room. The host was very kind and we felt very welcome. The breakfast was really good. The only thing for me was that it was very thin walls so you heard your room neighbors. That made it a little bit hard for my dog but at the end of the day that’s my problem 😆 Thank you for a nice visit!

Great place as a base to discover the area, with ample parking and within walking distance of the pleasant village center. Great and yet quiet location. We were there with motorbikes. The manager of the house immediately offered us a garage! Drinks were self-service with a "checkout of trust". Room was spacious, clean and functional. Breakfast was delicious. The price-performance ratio is right! Gladly again.

Very nice hotel! The rooms are big and super clean. The breakfast is super nice lots of options, fresh food and very nice staff. We arrived late and they had prepared everything to make our arrival smooth and easy despite the reception being closed.

Top location in the centre of Clausthal. Every target in old Clausthal can be reached on foot. Even Zellerfeld is not too far, but uphill. The hotel room is first class albeit the street noise is heard. Breakfast was super. I can only recommend this hotel.

The beds were comfortable, quiet, everything clean, great breakfast, nice surroundings and walks around, the lady taking care of us was very nice, though did only speak german to us but we manage somehow.

My wife and I have visited this hotel twice in 7 years and we were very satisfied each time 😁. The service is good, the food is delicious and includes a good selection (half board). The rooms are nicely furnished, the beds are good - everything you need for a (short) vacation. Only the Harz itself has significantly fewer trees 🌲😕. Recommendation 👍👍

A very nice hotel in the mountains. The view from the hotel is beautiful as it looks directly onto the two lakes in the town. Inside the hotel the interior is full of beautifully carved wood. My wife and I stayed here in January while visiting our daughter. The hotel had been renovated which was still a work in progress and there was a barrier in front of the hotel that made it difficult to find the entrance. The check in was long and ridiculous with a tablet that you have to do yourself with the staff just standing there and watching you. I guess no one wants to talk with people anymore...

The rooms, what can I say, are quite dated. I was supposed to have a room on the ground floor next to the lounge area in the Hotel Winterberg, but that didn't work out at all. In the next room there was a pool table where you can play until 10 p.m. and the room had a view of car tires because there was a parking lot right in front of it. Overall, I was happy. The bathroom was new with a large shower. What I was missing were towel rails at the head of the shower, you had to step out of it to dry off. What annoyed me, however, was that my breakfast table, which I had for two days, was suddenly reserved for another gentleman, and I was assigned a cat table with a pillar in front of me. This is a no-go .. and does not work at all ..

All good! Location is OK. Parking is for free, that is good. We were travelling with baby, so we got baby bed and blanket and so on - that was nice! Hotel is a little bit old-fashioned, and you will be surrounded with only retaried people, but if you are looking for really silent and peaceful place - that is yout choise!

More than a good hotel! We had a 3-day package "Romantik" half board and included a candlelight dinner. And a welcome cocktail (with 4 courses). Pleasant service, cozy bar, good massages, excellent service. We were in the main building. Perfect base for the Burgberg, Goslar and Werningerode (with the steam train to the Brocken, 1142 m high).
