The experience feels very German-centric and if you're not native German, you're not exactly welcome.

The cost of the room is around 200 euro for a night, however, you get shabby and "cheap" option: after one night, I woke up with neck pain—it felt like the cheapest mattress from IKEA.

The breakfast is basic, and the setup is poorly organized. The restaurant area looked way better than my room.

There was no parking available in front of the hotel. A staff member asked me to park in a public lot, which, luckily, was just 50 meters away. There was a small argument between the manager and the owner about whether parking was possible. The manager claimed she could arrange it but did nothing, because she would have had to move her own car. In the end, I parked in the public lot and paid myself. The manager also made strange comments, like insisting I move my car at 8 AM, which was absurd—you can simply pay for a ticket and leave it on the dashboard.
Parking is limited to 6 hours, for the interval from 8 to 18.

- The TV size was laughable.
- And this was the first hotel I've ever stayed at where you have to pay for a bottle of water.

A very friendly hotel with access to the thermal baths. The staff is very attentive. Breakfast, the afternoon cake buffet, and dinner were all delicious. The evening menu was not only very varied but also very creatively presented. We highly recommend this hotel!

The rooms, what can I say, are quite dated. I was supposed to have a room on the ground floor next to the lounge area in the Hotel Winterberg, but that didn't work out at all. In the next room there was a pool table where you can play until 10 p.m. and the room had a view of car tires because there was a parking lot right in front of it. Luckily I was able to complain and I was given a different room. The room really isn't good. The service staff in the restaurant and in the rooms were very friendly and the food was absolutely excellent. I do have one criticism. I happened to meet a former schoolmate in Bad Harzburg whom I hadn't seen in 35 years. It wasn't possible for her and her husband to join me at the table for a glass of wine after dinner; only hotel guests were allowed there. I was very disappointed and had to go out for a glass of wine for two evenings. The 3/4 board is recommended, and it also includes daily entry to the thermal baths/sauna and a cable car ride. If you can handle the hotel's old charm, it is definitely recommended.

Not really suitable for English people nor those under 60. Not very English friendly and the other guests can be very rude. One of the big selling points of this hotel was the spa but that was a total let down. The main pool is nice but the rude guests shout at you in German if you breathe incorrectly and then you go down to the sauna area. Well, if you like looking at naked old men then you are in for a treat, otherwise expect to be barated for wearing a swimming costume. It did look nice to be fair but we were hounded out by the naked people so forced to use just the main pool.
Then there is the huge building site opposite that no one mentioned. Construction noise starts at 8am despite the while site appearing to knock off early afternoon.
Then you have the town... It's like the town of the walking dead and the charm it once had replaced by a few shops and restraunts that close early and ask you to sit outside in the rain to eat dinner.
All in this place is expensive for what it is and I would not return. Far better to stay outside the Harts and day trip into the busier towns that have more to see and save yourself some money.

Clean, but showing its age... Super nice staff, great location. Baked rolls for breakfast, but freshly boiled eggs. Everything is great in Corona times!

Room and breakfast all good, only the thermal baths are closed

It was nice there, the service was good. The room very clean. Only the mattress was a bit soft. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
Special requests were met due to a food intolerance.

High price, very little service!
We stayed there for 155, - € in a double room with breakfast. The only argument in favor of the hotel is the access to the brine thermal bath, which is included in the price - unfortunately it is currently closed. So we got an overnight stay in an incredibly poorly lit little room with little daylight and little comfort. The equipment corresponds to the standard of the eighties. Unsteady wooden furniture, clustered lights with energy-saving lamps; the bedside lamps are connected to the sockets via luster terminals! The bed is extremely soft and creaks with every movement, the pillows are a real laughing stock, more like rags than pillows. The television feels like the smallest model that can be found. The bathroom is quite new, but already shows traces of careless maintenance: traces of rust, dirty window corners and a sink drain that cannot be operated. Why is the make-up mirror about 1.60 m high? The two toothbrush mugs that stand moist from the inside with the opening facing down on the damp edge of the washbasin are really creepy: It's alive inside - a clearly recognizable edge of dirt on the bottom of the mug and the very unpleasant smell are evidence of this. You should actually be able to expect that these hygienically sensitive vessels will be thoroughly cleaned in the dishwasher after every guest change, and not just during corona times! Speaking of corona times: Nobody asked about our vaccination certificates that we have or any other 3G-compatible proof.
The breakfast room is more like seventies: wooden benches with sagging overlay.
The breakfast was indescribable: No freshly brewed coffee, only vending machines, we were served a plate with sausage products without asking - we were amazed and slightly overwhelmed when we said that we did not eat meat, and our question about wheat-free bread products also caused irritation. Gluten-free baked rolls were handed in later - unfortunately the scrambled eggs brought in between meals were already cold.
All of this does not fit into the twenty-first century and certainly not in a hotel that has a three-star superior certification at the entrance and advertises itself as a "modern hotel". For less than a hundred euros in a double room with the breakfast offered, it would have been OK, but not for the price.
Dear landlady, we really won't be back - Bad Harzburg will always be happy, but not in the brine hotel.
