Atlantic Hotel in Athens

Obviously an older establishment, but it seems as if they’re engaged in a program of modernization. My room (205) had a renovated bathroom and a small balcony that faces the sea. The decor is a bit dark, dated and 1980s. However it’s roomy, has plenty of closet space and a mini-fridge. The towels are thick and absorbent, linens are crisp and the mattresses are comfortable. A positive quirk is that the towels come wrapped in plastic! The front desk personnel are courteous, proactive and responsive. So are the cleaning staff. There’s a sad little parking “garage” beneath the hotel but there’s also street parking. Several restaurants within walking distance along with a brand new and shiny convenience store two doors down. A pharmacy and tram stop are also nearby. All in all, this hotel seems like an earnestly run establishment that is on its way up.

The room had slippers, there were enough towels. Also, you can ask for daily cleaning, which is very convenient.
But:
You have to leave your room key at the reception every time you go out, which I didn’t like. The soundproofing is poor. Also, there was no kettle or even a glass in the room.

The area is very calm and feels safe. Public transportation is near (tram/bus/trolley bus).

Clean and spacious rooms, given the price level. Make sure to tell the reception when you want the room cleaned, it is not done automatically. Clean towels are delivered packed in plastic. The air condition worked well and there was always enough hot water. There was a small fridge with a tiny freezer that worked well. The rooms had some signs of needing maintenance and there could have been more places to hang used towels and shelfs for placing clothes etc. Nice balcony! Drawback that the smell of smoke would come from the balcony.

The staff working during our visit was friendly and helpful. The reception is open 24/7 and the staff recognize everyone staying there so it feels rather safe. Very practical that one can buy snacks and drinks at any time. The breakfast was always the same: toast, an egg, a chocolate croissant, a glass of juice, a glass of water and a choice of coffee/tea/cold milk. There are many cafeterias nearby where you can also eat breakfast.

It is easy to take public transportation to places like Acropolis and beaches. There's a direct bus from the airport (X96). The mini market right next to the hotel sells tickets. If you plan to make more than 6 single trips in Athens it is cheaper to buy the five day pass.

All in all the hotel is a good choice given the price. The biggest drawback is the constant smell of smoke/e-cigarettes in the reception area. Not sure if this is a common issue in Greece, but if you're very sensitive to smoke the hotel is not the best choice.

Property was very nice, only stayed briefly for one evening. Hotel carries sound very well due to the stone flooring, so I could hear other people walking or moving luggage quite loudly during the night. Very clean. Had to hold the shower head over my head with my hand which I don’t love, and only provided one thin sheet for the bed.

Nice clean rooms with helpful staff located in a residential area. Not close to Acropolis but has good connectivity to Piraeus port, Airport by express bus and site seeing places.

Near by there is a Big super market where you can buy water for 0.24 Euros and other required items like sun screen lotion

Go to this place. There is lot of local and fine dine restaurants. There is a church, kids and local hang around this place till late night
