My stay at Alba Athens Hotel was excellent. The room was exceptionally spacious, air-conditioned, and very clean. It also had a safe and a fridge stocked with drinks.

The bathroom was spotless, and the towels were replaced daily. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious.

I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was fine, but is typical of many Athens hotels that have been converted cheaply and quickly. The lift was an old fashioned cage lift, while certain fittings in the room were cheap or poorly done (e.g. the bedroom door scraped against the floor and didn’t open fully).

The bed was comfy enough, the shower had good water pressure and immediately got to a high temperature, and the staff were always really helpful.

Ultimately, it worked for us for a single night, but it didn’t have a holiday feel, and depends on if you pay over €100.

Clean and comfortable place. We had a good time at this hotel. The Hotel location is nice as it is within walking distance to Monastiraki square ( about 10 minutes).

Everything was amazing. The room perfect. Not too big not too small. Very affordable. A fun enjoyable walk to near by places like restaurants and shops. The breakfast was delicious. Would definitely come back to here again. Definitely will also recommend to anyone who comes to visit. The shuttle service was great. Driver was very nice and very informative of local areas.

The property is modern and the beds are comfortable, but it’s extremely noisy if your room faces the busy main road bring earplugs. The area feels a bit sketchy and dirty, especially when walking to Plaka or major sites, though it is well lit at night.

A major issue: I saw the front desk turn off the lights on guests still eating breakfast at 10:25 AM, telling them it ends at 10:30. Instead of just stopping food service, he argued with them and only turned the lights back on after complaints. Very poor treatment.

Overall, I recommend staying closer to the Acropolis for similar prices, you’ll find cleaner, safer areas and a better experience.

The service from the day staff, especially John at reception, was unacceptable. Rude, dismissive, and unprofessional throughout. By contrast, the night staff and housekeeping were far more pleasant — the difference in attitude was clear.

Breakfast was another disappointment. I was told it ran from 7:30–10:30, but at exactly 10:30 the lights in the breakfast area were switched off while I was still eating. I was told I’d have to finish my food in the dark. After some back and forth, the lights were turned back on, only for me to then be told I had to leave immediately. To make things worse, I saw John shouting at an elderly couple, telling them they “need to learn to follow rules.” Absolutely shocking behaviour.

On top of this, my room had a broken blind that I reported but was never fixed.

Overall, the day staff ruined what could have been a simple, average stay.

Very pleased with our stay. Clean room, quiet, very friendly staff, and affordable. Spent 2 nights there, they allowed us early check in rather than leaving our bags and were helpful throughout the stay. Only negative is the location (not hotels fault so no affect on my rating). Is on the wrong side of the acropolis so if staying there, use the metro. Is a close station. Day one, we walked all the way to the otherside which is about 2 miles each way. Day 2, took metro (10 min from hotel to the tourist area of Athens... cost 1.2 euro=$1.50), and glad we did. Clean and safe. Even had a poloce inquire if anybody was bothering us. Neighborhood has lots of graffiti though, as does much of the city, but we felt safe.

The rooms are tight and the patio upstairs not available at all. Good to sleep with convenient and safe parking next to. Convenient location to visit Athens by foot.

We had an excellent stay at the Alva Hotel! While the location is in a busy area (don’t be put off by the traffic or the graffiti, it is Athens after all), the hotel is also only a few steps away from the metro station, a main street, and many food options. If you choose to walk, all the tourist sites are a mere 15-20 minutes away by foot. The hotel itself is new, very clean, and has excellent amenities and service. We would definitely stay again if we return to Athens. Efkharisto!
