Kokalas Resort in Georgioupolis

We recently stayed at the villa right next to this lovely place, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip! The same family who owns the villa also runs this beautiful, family-owned hotel and restaurant and their hospitality is just unbeatable.

The atmosphere is super welcoming, and you truly feel like part of the family from the moment you arrive. We had the chance to try a variety of local dishes everything homemade and full of flavor. The local cheeses, especially the feta, were delicious, and the meat selection was just perfect. They also introduced us to local wines, which paired beautifully with the food.

On Thursday evening, they hosted a barbecue party that turned into a full-on celebration food, wine, music, and even dancing! It was a truly authentic Cretan experience we won’t forget.

We had one week of our holiday in Kokalas Resort in Georgioupoli. The first impression is that the owners are really welcomed. We arrived late but she still waited and greeted us from the door. Then we got two slices of homemade cake and two shots of rakomelo (local raki with honey) as welcoming drink. The resort is run by a family so you gonna feel like a real guests there. On every Wednesday, they have dinner with local bbq and good salad,which you can book a book in advance. I really recommend this dinner because after the bbq night, they gonna show us how to dance as locals and many traditional songs of Greek or Cretan people. We had so much fun that night. The room is clean, the room service will clean the floor everyday and change towels every two days. Whatever you need during your time there, just come and ask from reception counter. They are always happy to help. Two side notes: the air condition will cost extra price, and they have so good cocktails there.

The owner Nikos and his family treat you like part of the family. They are very friendly. Location is great! Clean rooms and comfortable beds! Beautiful beach and plenty of attractions nearby. Great place to stay if you want to explore the most you can while in Crete.

This place is very very welcoming and one of a kind. The hotel is family owned (I think) THE MEN WERE VERY SWEET AND FUNNY. 🦵🫁 The rooms were pretty ( and clean) the beds were beautifully made and there was a lot of free goodies. 🥢👁️ The breakfast was delicious but i wish they could make it a buffet. On Thursdays they arrange a grill "party" where you eat, and dance, it was EXCELLENT AND EXTREMELY FUN, I GOT TO SEE MY BROTHER DANCE ON FIREEEE. ( It was not dangerous) I loved the service and the drinks they served

What a gorgeous place to stay, Kokalas is a gem , run by a family , Rula, and Family welcomed our family of four when we arrived to a choice of drink and local Cretan Cake. The rooms are traditional wooden furnishings, kept spotlessly clean, with hot water always available and the necessary air conditioning. You'll sleep so well in the comfortable beds and excellent quality pillows and it's so quiet at night. The swimming pool is medium size and has plenty of sun beds, a baby pool also and again spotlessly clean. The bar is lovely with food and drinks and a friendly face supplied. Rula was so kind to book a restaurant in Chania for my daughter's birthday. Every Wednesday they run a BBQ, where all the sunbeds are replaced with table settings, families meet others for lovely food, where you learn to dance traditional Greek style, jump over fire, and dance to more modern tunes, it's great fun. The kokalas is literally 1 minute walk from the bus stop that takes you to Rethymnon and Chania. It's close to beaches and cafes. We will be back. Thank you. Xx

Just returned from our 11 night holiday at the Kokalas Resort Georgioupoli it was that good we are now booking flights to return in Sep/Oct. (2 weeks this time!!!) Nickos, Rula and Frank + all the staff at the apartments could not do enough to make it a Holiday to remember. Thanks to you all, see you soon. We were a bit dubious about putting a comment on here as too many people will see it and we may not be able to get a room in the future!!!!

Beautiful place staff very helpful the only fault was the dinning it was like eating on a farm with pigs

Everything flowed smoothly from minute 1! Friendly welcome from Rula and family and staff. Perfect location for relaxing, unstressed break. We have visited Georgioupolis many times and Kokalas is always our preferred resort!
