We went to Portobello based on a recommendation of friends, who both have 2 kids each. We asked them to recommend a good spa hotel not too far away from Budapest and Portobello came up multiple times. Now we know why. We visited the hotel several times. It is gradually being renovated, from the new interiors of the rooms, the restaurant to the new sunbeds by the pools. Really weak value for money, definitely not a 4-star accommodation. They change towels only every third day, so you have to visit the spa three times with the same towel (quite unhygienic). The hotel was quite cold for the two weeks of my stay due to a technical issue. Unfortunately, the spa area—which was the main reason I chose this hotel—was also too cold to fully enjoy. Even on hot summer days, the island stays cool, and from the hotel windows, you can see lush greenery instead of hot, stone buildings. Three times Michelin guide, food is rich is flavour for me but was slightly too salty for my family. I personally enjoyed the food a lot and was really satisfied with what I had. There are a few Michelin guide restaurants around and are all under the same group. This one is abit further from the fisherman’s bastion, so the odds of it having space is the highest.

This hotel has a gym, and I was the only one there when I went early in the morning. It was great. The Danube River is right outside the door, so you get amazing views, and you can take a walk along the river after dinner.

Excellent stay, all the staff are friendly and attentive. The room and bathroom were of an exceptional standard, towels changed every day and bottles of water replenished daily. Breakfast was fabulous both buffet and cooked to order. The location of the hotel is ideal for seeing the sights of Budapest. We had an amazing experience at the hotel.

Very clean, quite and walking distence to a lot of tourist destination

A heartwarming experience! We had a very early flight and had to leave before breakfast was served, but the hotel surprised us by preparing a packed breakfast for us to take away. We are so incredibly grateful; it made us feel truly valued! I highly recommend this hotel – excellent service 👍

This was my second time at the Pest-Buda Design Boutique Hotel and I can highly recommend it. Nothing is lacking. You can hear some traffic noise in the room facing the street, but it didn't bother me at all and I cateched good sleep. The room can be completely darkened. Beautiful hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Room was spacious and well equipped and we loved the quirkiness. Very close to fisherman's bastion and we loved passing by the fantastic views on our way to anywhere. Breakfast choice was great and very tasty.

Wow, pest-buda design hotel , the rooms are beautiful, well stocked and clean and I love the design. The staff are very attentive and the guy who checked us in was so helpful and friendly I wish I got his name!
