First off - the good bits. I loved our quirky spacious room which had really comfortable beds and lots of space, plus lots of hot water (not always a given in India I have found!). The hotel is situated in a large courtyard, set back from the bustling streets so is a quiet oasis. Now the other bits! The restaurant is disappointing, and the vibe was generally a bit run down and quirky descended into scruffy. The restaurant itself is dark and feels a bit depressing, and the service was slow and it felt a bit like we were being a bother asking for anything. So if you want a quiet and atmospheric bed for the night, I’d recommend this place - but if you want to eat, or have breakfast or feel welcomed, I’d avoids

Staff were all lovely - very helpful and smiling. Especially Sandeep who went the extra mile. We were met at Jaipur airport by Mr Khan who was a fantastic driver during our visit and we had many laughs! The hotel is clean with lovely rooms and comfortable beds. It is a real historical gem and a treat to stay in this former palace which was like stepping back in time! An oasis of calm in the hectic city. For me the only disappointment was the pool which didn’t resemble the photos and didn’t appear to be as clean as hoped. However this is a minor point and I would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you for such a memorable stay.

Would accept that the main rooms and reception area are beautiful. However the condition of the rooms are not up to standard for the price they are charging 5000 INR. Issue s Only one light bulb working . Broken floor tiles in the shower room . Filthy doors and light switches Grey old towels Slatted window in shower room really dirty . We reported these matters to management on leaving I was told should have reported these matters the day before and should have left .I tried to explain that I had reported these matters to our driver and thought he was reporting back as he knew the owner and we were in Jaipur a limited time and did not want to change hotels . The manager just ignored me I know I am in India but this is my 5 th trip to the country I know what to expect Stayed in many other hotels in India . We would have accepted the room if it cost about 3000 INR but at 5000 you expect a better standard On the positive.side beds were clean . I would not recommend this hotel

An amazing old building but very poorly maintained. Electrics seemed frankly dangerous. Broken tiled floor in bathroom and very dim lighting. Filthy doors and windows. This building needs a full refurbishment yet is charging more than many fantastic hotels I have stayed in while touring India. When we complained we were told we could leave. Very near a mosque that woke us up. All in all it is poor value for money.

Heritage hotel with lovely rooms (Maharaja and maharani), calm and quiet amid the bustle, friendly and attentive staff, and decent food. Definitely a relaxing way to start our hectic three weeks in India.

Beautiful palace. The cheaper rooms do not have anything special, but good prize quality. The common areas (salon, dining room, entrance hall) are very beautiful. Just as one would imagine a maharaja palace. Good location. The personal helped us a lot with an issue with our bus.

This is a character property with stand-out features, but also some important points to note for guests. The highlights for us were the restaurant for dinner (great selection and service) and the on-site clothing/gift shop. We picked up some great clothes for our travels at a good price. The shop staff were so helpful, finding exactly what we needed. We also recommend the lovely masala chai! We enjoyed this on the terrace and even spotted a kingfisher. The main point which could improve is the bathroom - the shower is not adjustable, and there were some insects on the floor. Insects may be due to the wear and tear of the building we were housed in (the room on the lawn) - as there were some gaps to the outside around the heating unit and entry door. We really enjoyed our stay here and the staff were wonderful. So we would recommend this hotel, but be aware that some modern conveniences are not available. It was very good value for the price.

Beautiful, authentic Indian-style hotel with a lovely atmosphere. The breakfast and evening menus were both excellent, with plenty of choice and great quality. We also organised a day of sightseeing through the hotel, which was brilliant and really well arranged. However, we also booked a street food tour (recommended by the hotel) which cost 5000 INR — very expensive for what it was. We only received one samosa, a chai tea, a mango lassi and an ice cream. We even saw the samosas being bought for 50 INR, and there was very little actual street food or explanation during the tour. When we returned, we explained to the hotel that we didn’t feel it was worth the full amount and were happy to pay what we thought was fair. Unfortunately, the manager argued with us and even came to our room after 9pm to ask for payment, which was uncomfortable and disappointing. This was the only downside to an otherwise lovely stay.

The staff at this absolutely beautiful heritage hotel are so warm and welcoming. It really is like staying in a museum and there is a deep sense of history everywhere you look. The breakfast needs an update and the palace is needing some maintenance. Don’t be out off by the gate and sign at the entrance, this place is enchanting… but yes, an updated entrance sign would most definitely help with first impressions.
