Ashley Sabang Jakarta in Jakarta

What a rip-off! I'm writing this review to warn my fellow Chinese travelers. This place is a total scam compared to other hotels in the area at this price point. It's just a guesthouse, but Trip.com is selling it for a similar price to much larger hotels nearby. What's even more frustrating is that I specifically booked the more expensive 'executive twin room' for a larger 1-meter double bed. At check-in, the front desk assigned us a room on the 3rd floor. I asked if there were any higher floors available, and she said no. After checking in, I found that we were given standard 0.8-meter twin beds. I complained to the front desk, and they offered to move us to the 7th floor, but I saw it was still 0.8-meter twin beds, so we didn't bother moving. I understand that I can't control the floor level, but shouldn't the 1-meter double bed I paid extra for be honored? Since there was a language barrier and we were in a foreign country, I just let it go. Trip.com, do you even compare prices and facilities with other hotels in the vicinity when setting your rates?

I was very disappointed with my stay at Ashley Sabang Jakarta. The hotel feels old and definitely does not live up to a 4-star standard.

The cleanliness was unacceptable. I found stains on the pillows, old hairs in the bed, and the toilet was already starting to develop mold shortly after check-in. It did not feel properly cleaned at all. I immediately requested a room change, but the staff never arranged one. I even went out for a while to give them time to properly clean the room and replace the pillows. Unfortunately, when I returned, they had only removed the visible hairs from the bed and did nothing else.

The breakfast was also disappointing. It is not always buffet as advertised, and sometimes they just provide a small box, which is not worth paying extra for.

For comparison, I have stayed at Ashley Tang Menteng Jakarta, which is only a 1 minute walk on the same street. The price is usually the same or sometimes even cheaper. That hotel feels much cleaner, better maintained, and truly deserves a 5 star rating for the value. They even offer free self service laundry and a very good Chinese-style buffet breakfast.

Overall, this hotel does not meet 4 star expectations, and I would not recommend staying here when there are much better options nearby.
