Kaplan Hotel in Jerusalem

🌍
Jerusalem, HaHavatselet St 1
● Center: 1.5 km

Owners Eli and Nathan are described as very welcoming, friendly, and helpful hosts. Rooms include a small refrigerator and air conditioning, with basic comforts like hot water and cable TV. The hotel’s location is praised for proximity to Zion Square, the Old City, and public transport. Guests appreciate the availability of a shared kitchen and a shared lounge/TV area. Cleanliness is generally rated good, with some rooms recently renovated and well-maintained. No elevator and several flights of steep stairs can be difficult for guests with mobility issues or heavy luggage. Noise from ongoing hotel renovations and nearby plaza can disrupt rest, including hammering and late-night hallway noise. Parking is limited and not easy to find nearby despite free parking availability. Some guests noted issues with small flies in bathrooms due to faulty window screens. Rooms are small compared to some international standards, which may feel cramped for some guests.

For the price, it was what we expected. No complaints but this is definitely a budget hotel. No frills. Great location. Super nice staff. Easy in/out, no wasting time on paperwork. Parking is tricky so if bringing a car, be warned there is no nearby parking. We only stayed one night and didn’t spend much time in the hotel but it served our needs.

The owner was friendly and helpful and the location is very central.

The bed sheets were clean but there were many small flies congregating in the bathroom because the window screen had a design fault were it has open gap letting the flies in. The overall cleanliness has room for improvement.

Given the high cost of Jerusalem, the price of the room is reasonable. So you get what you pay for.

For two of us (married) the room was small by our normal standards in the USA. But…TV had 5+ English channels, shower in the corner was good with hot water, and small refrig served our needs. I would have liked a breakfast area but Aroma Coffee is 30 steps from the front door. No elevator and first rooms start on the 2nd floor. There was at least another floor above us.

I stayed at the Hotel Kaplan for a three week study program which was a 15 minute walk away. The rooms are clean, comfortable and provide you with the essentials, nothing more. While not an upscale hotel, the owners Eli and Nathan are very welcoming and are definitely part of the experience of staying there. A kitchen is available if you want to do light cooking. The rooms include a small refrigerator which is great for keeping drinks cool. The hotel is off Jaffa St. directly across from Zion Park and is close to transportation, many restaurants and tourist attractions. I highly recommend it and hope to return. NOTE: The hotel is in an old building which has several steep flights of stairs to reach the two floors. There are no elevators. This is not necessarily a problem, if you are young and strong enough. But if you have mobility issues or heavy suitcases, you may want to consider another hotel, sadly. Todah rabah, Eli and Nathan!

Impressive, well-located, and close walking distances to everything (Kotel, Bus Station, Super Markets).

Owners Natan and Eli do their utmost for guests' convenience and comfort. Certainly you can eat your own snack in the little kitchen or make teas or coffees whenever you like. The best feature of this hotel is the location . Go out of the main door and within six strides you are in Zion Square the heart of the City. Guests need to be minimally fit because there are many stairs and no lift!

This is a decent hotel, you get what you pay for. It is in an excellent location with everything on your doorstep, many cafes, restaurants, tram stop and it is only a 10-15 minute walk to the old city of Jerusalem. The owner is a nice guy, however.......there was one thing that put a black mark on our stay though, noise. I write this review (July 2022). For anyone thinking of making a booking with hotel kaplan it may be a good idea if you confirm with management if they will still be in the middle of hotel renovations. Disappointingly hotel management did not inform us of construction works ongoing in the hotel and we had our stay severely disrupted by noise, very loud hammer drilling and general construction work. Some of this work continued (loudly) late into the evenings, and you could normally hear hammer drilling around 8.30am, one evening at 7pm. On our last night we heard cleaning in the hallway outside our rooms around midnight. The hallways had constant noise, chatter, phonecalls, banging etc. For anyone who likes to go out all day and maybe come in for a nap before going out for dinner, no chance. I write this review so people will not get caught out like we did. Hotels in Jerusalem are not cheap and people deserve the honest the service they pay for.
