Camping La Focetta Sicula in SANT'ALESSIO SICULO

We stayed at this campsite recently and overall, I would describe it as average. The facilities are old, but clean and well maintained. The price, however, feels quite high – roughly one third to one half more expensive than some five-star campsites we’ve stayed at in the past, while the services here don’t really match that level.

The campsite has a bar, but when I stopped by from the beach in the afternoon, there was nobody there, so I couldn’t order anything. Towards the end of the season, the offer is very limited (maybe same in the main season) – basically just beer, soft drinks, and coffee.

As for the beach, don’t expect fine sand. These are volcanic pebble beaches, and the stones are quite sharp. I would recommend water shoes, especially for children. The entry into the water is fairly steep, which makes it less suitable for small kids.

On the positive side, the campsite is conveniently located between two nearby towns, both of which are worth visiting. So, if your main interest is exploring the area and visiting these towns, this place could work for you. But if you are looking for a family-friendly spot with easy swimming, well equipped beach, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Great location right by the sea with beautiful views. Not very friendly receptionist. We were told we can't tale a pitch in the first line although several places were free, the reason for this remains a mystery. They then charged us extra for the small tent we pitched next to our caravan even though it was entirely on our pitch. They also charged extra for electricity and hot showers. Showers/toilets very basic and old, but clean. No restaurant, no shop, no pool, no bread service... All in all it was an expensive camping with few and basic services.
