Palazzo Mellacqua in Andrano

An excellent hotel and restaurant. Sonia and Emanuele were very generous, friendly and welcoming. The room was large and extremely comfortable. La Cantina was a lovely atmospheric space with excellent service and food.

We arrived on a rainy Sunday evening after a tiring hike. Sonia's welcome was a burst of energy! Our top floor room was quirky with a wonderful roof terrace area we would loved to have made use of in better weather. We drank a beer in the small bar and ate in the hotel restaurant - La Cantina (separate review). Breakfast was generous. You could not ask for better hosts than Sonia and Emmanuel.

What a little gem of a hotel. Lovely characterful rooms. Very welcoming owners . The hotel restaurant La Cantena has an authentic rustic charm serving superb food and local wines at reasonable prices. The grilled vegetables in local olive oil and the seafood starter were fantastic. Breakfast can be taken in the light and airy courtyard .

Amazing place to stay in beautifully renovated palace with very well appointed rooms and delicious cosy restaurant. I had a little accident whilst there and Emmanuel was so concerned and kind and took me first to the doctor and then accident and emergency at 9pm on a Friday. Once all was well he collected us at 2am. Super special place

Amazing building with very friendly and helpful hosts, Sonja & Emanuele. Our room was incredible and breakfast was delicious. Great picnic too for our day’s walking. I left a pair of earrings and Emanuele brought them to Otranto for me, exceptional service!

Our hosts welcomed us from the moment of our arrival. Very personal care and attention to detail. Really enjoyed the food and service. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. The fish was fabulous but expensive. Just need to watch the quantity that you order.

This old palazzo was converted into a charming b&b with beautiful rooms, so well equipped. Emanuel and Sonia are wonderful hosts, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast, home made, was rich and very different from coffee and croissant you get in other places. The newly opened restaurant, Cantina offers a very high quality dinner (though quite pricy) with local specialties and very good local wine. Stay at least 2 nights to feel the place.

After 20 years of time and money - the next (and possibly last ?) phase of the Palazzo Mellacqua project, the new restaurant, is now open ! We had the privilege of having a 'foretaste' (is that the correct gastronomic equivalent of a theatrical 'preview' ?) some days before the official inauguration, Florentine steaks and all, later in the month .... The Milanese restaurant opening consultant still has a few more weeks of training the staff in culinary excellence to go before he heads up north again ever closer to his dream of hosting a boat in Porto Venere ..... .... but I digress. Convenient town centre location for a one night InnTravel stay. Great setup with large rooms at various stepped levels around a central courtyard. Comfortable bed, good shower/wifi/breakfast/minibar .... If you want a beer you can open your minibar or pay a lot more for sitting by reception and getting salty things thrown in. Don't get your beer from reception if you don't want salty bits ;-) If you have trouble with steps make sure you reserve a (the) room at reception level.

The little town of Castiglione does not offer much for tourists but, from the effusive welcome and free drink on arrival to the owners waving us goodbye as our taxi drove away, we loved this hotel. We spent one night here on our walking holiday and had delicious food cooked by Sonia, very comfortable rooms and charming hosts. We wish them every success with their beautifully restored new restaurant.

Stayed here for a night on a walking holiday. Great welcome from Sonia and Emanuele who made us feel very much at home. Comfortable rooms and delicious fresh seafood served for dinner (restaurant opening next month). Altogether highly recommended.
