Albergo Gardesana in Riva del Garda

I stayed at this hotel for just one night, and it was absurd. I arrived and was given a room outside the hotel, with an old iron door. It looked like a hostel. I paid a whopping €99 plus €2 in tourist tax. The furniture was very old and shabby, and the bathroom fixtures were truly appalling for the price. The air conditioning was dated, but I didn't turn it on because it wasn't inspiring. The mini fridge was dumped right next to the bedside table and was so loud I had to unplug it to sleep. I asked for a sheet because there wasn't one on the bed; there was only a sheet on the mattress and a duvet. However, in the photos on ***********, you can see the sheet neatly arranged on the bed. My request was granted, but the sheet was left in my room, so when I returned from dinner, I had to make my own bed. For breakfast in the morning, I didn't have direct access, but had to cross this external road adjacent to the hotel, which wasn't pleasant given the cold early in the morning. I should point out that I had spent the previous two nights in a nearby hotel, where I didn't find a third night either. It was a 4-star hotel, and I paid less than I paid here. It was, of course, a very welcoming hotel. I can't say the same about the Hotel Gardesana. My room was 303, and it wasn't worth more than €40. I don't know about the other rooms; I didn't have the "pleasure" of seeing them.

The room we were allocated was like a hostel, the balcony was so small with a wall on either side the two of us could not sit on it. There are obviously very nice rooms in the hotel but the one we got- 208 was not. The room was small with wardrobes above bed with a rail about 6ft above bed. Bed had chipboard under mattress as base. One narrow desk in white with chipped edges, platform for fridge chipped edges, socket hanging off wall. Bathroom old, window in bathroom had rope attached to close but it didn’t work. Fridge faulty. Asked to change rooms initially told there were none. We decided to leave hotel, owner demanded we pay over 1000€, after an argument he agreed we could pay for 3 nights, which we did 483€, we left. On returning home *********** charged us 1100€ also as the hotel said we were a no show, which we were not. We have now paid for 10 nights in a hotel we never stayed in. Luckily we found a hotel nearby that was exceptional. Ruined the start of our holiday. The room was not as described & certainly not in any of the 64 photos. Reception area & pool looked good & I am sure the breakfast may have been if we had stayed there.
