Active & Family Hotel Gioiosa in Riva del Garda

We booked hotel Gioiosa early in the year for our summer vacation and were really looking forward to it. Overall, I would rate it a just okay experience compared to other family hotels that we stayed at.

Starting with the positive: the meals provided were phenomenal. Kudos to the chef who gave us a fantastic culinary experience. I love the location of the hotel as well; and the fact that you can use their bikes for free. We went down to Riva Del Garda a few times along the bike trail. We felt safe even with our 6 year old biking by himself.

The not perfect sides: I want to say that I love all staff at the kids club. They care about the kids and delivered outstanding services. Just the opening schedule is a bit odd. The kids club is closed from 12:30pm to 5:30pm; after one hour of opening time it would close again at 6:30pm; until reopens again at 7:30 or something like that. We had to rush the morning activity schedules in order to be back in time for picking up my youngest one.

Another thing I found odd but it might just be a local thing is that all soft beverages even water was not included in the meal (except for breakfast, which did include all beverages). You need to order and pay extra for the drinks. It did not break the bank, but it did damper the experience a bit, having experienced other Kinderhotels with free coffee and tea and soda flowing all day long.

We loved our stay at Hotel Gioiosa. We were traveling with our 18-month-old, and it was the perfect place for us to enjoy Lake Garda and the nearby mountains/lakes, while also having some time to relax. We loved having a hotel room with a separate sleeping area for our son. We enjoyed using the play areas, the stunning pool, and also taking it in turns to use the sauna, hamam, and massage offerings while our little one napped. We opted for 3/4 board and the food was excellent--varied and healthy breakfast options, filling afternoon snack, and beautifully presented 4-course meal at dinner. The best part of our stay was the incredible staff. Every single one was friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. The only drawback to this hotel is that you cannot walk anywhere (except to Cascata di Varone and to a nearby Coop Supermarket), but it's only a short drive to Riva del Garda, Torbole, Argo, and Tenno, plus there is public transportation. Would definitely recommend Hotel Gioisa, especially for families with young children.

The hotel and staff are actually fantastic. Rooms are approriately equiped for a good family stay, food is top quality both for breakfast and dinner, service is great without being annoying. The only downside is that you are too far away and up the hill to enjoy roaming around on foot.

The lake view wasn't all that special (the hotel is quite a distance away) but we loved our outdoor space regardless. The staff is friendly and fluent in Italian, English and German. Breakfast is phenomenal, the pool and grounds are beautiful, and there's a good amount of parking. There were a lot of families (as you might expect from the name of the hotel), but as a couple on our own we still had a great time. We would love to return (and next time we'll make time to check out the hammam!).

The three of us had a very nice stay at the family hotel Gioiosa. Most of it was very clean and well-kept. The service staff was very attentive and friendly. The dinner was qualitatively and tastefully very good and varied, but sometimes too meat-heavy. The child contamination was very good and the staff was very nice. The fellow guests were also friendly. Conclusion: We'll definitely see each other again.

The courtesy of the staff and the beauty of the garden are the first things that catch the eye. Great attention to cleaning and compliance with anti-covid regulations. We stayed 4 days and everything went beautifully. The hotel was fully booked so the pool was very crowded, but despite this there were plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. If the breakfast satisfied us, we were a little disappointed with the dinner, the menu was very varied and the dishes well executed but the taste did not reflect them. Just a nuance that did not impact our judgment more than good.

Delicious food, very friendly personnel, perfect for families with children, a bit outside the town, so an own car is necessary.
