The service was the best we experienced in Japan (and we only experienced good to great service). We arrived after a short walk from the bus stop, and there was someone outside to greet us.
The lady that looked after us at dinner was overly patient with my limited Japanese.
The food, onsen and room were more than we expected.

We had a lovely time staying here. Every member of staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was very nice and comfortable; we slept well. The breakfasts were very good and they kindly ensured it was vegetarian for us. We enjoyed spending an hour or two in the bar in the evenings and trying some of the local drinks. The onsen was clean and very nice, too. Special mention to Mayumi who introduced us and was lovely to chat to during our stay. We were sad to leave and this place set a high precedent for the rest of our trip!

This Ryokan style hotel is beautiful. The food and whole experience is awesome. The personal is really nice and willing to help. The onsen is great. Matsumoto is such a pretty place to visit and this hotel completes the experience.

I stayed here for a night in March with my relatives. 1. Each meal was carefully prepared and delicious. Our plan included handmade soba noodles at the end of the meal, but rice was not included, but they were happy to provide it when we asked. All the dishes went well with rice, so we were very satisfied, even though we don't drink alcohol. 2. The bath water was very soft to the touch and the temperature was just right, so we felt like we could stay in it forever. 3. When I left something behind, they carefully packed it and sent it to my house by mail. I asked them to send it to me by cash on delivery, but they paid the postage and paid for it, which I was very grateful for. 4. Part of the breakfast was a buffet (rice, miso soup, natto, nama*, yogurt, etc.), and the system of bringing freshly made side dishes allowed us to have as many refills as we wanted, which was nice. The freshly grilled* and miso-boiled mackerel were very delicious. Thanks to the attentive service of the staff, we were able to spend a relaxing and comfortable time. I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you very much.

When I told them in advance that I am elderly and have a small appetite, they arranged for me to have some horse meat tataki and delicious soba noodles. The regular dinner for the second night was too much for a senior (lol). Chablis white wine ◎ and barrel-fermented wine ◎ from the nearby Yamabe Winery. There was a wide selection of alcoholic drinks, including soba shochu with soba yuwari ◎. It was a cozy Japanese-style inn with good value for money. I would like to return in early autumn.

Lovely service at a small Inn out of the way. The food was excellent. The rooms and onsen were a bit dated. Reasonable value for money. Matsumoto itself is well worth visiting
