A very cozy hotel with friendly service, clean and comfortable. The breakfast at the 86 Onkan downstairs is delicious. However, it's a bit far from the JR station. On the afternoon of my return trip, I asked the front desk to help me call a taxi, but was told there were no taxi drivers nearby at the moment, and bus services were also infrequent. The hotel has been open for a while, so it's well-maintained. It's right next to Matsumoto Castle, very close by walking distance. The rooms are quite large for Japan. There's also a large public bath downstairs.

Matsumoto folk art furniture was installed everywhere, and we were able to spend a wonderful and luxurious time.

The room was comfortable and spacious. The hotel also provides thoughtful toiletries and personal care products. Good location with sightseeing spots iwithin walking distance. On top of that, the staff were very helpful and patient, my son accidentally left his toy behind, and they went out of their way to help us find it. Truly appreciated!

Richmond hotel was a short walk from the Matsumoto JR Station and Bus Station. Bed was comfortable and room good size for 3 pax. Breakfast at Cafe Gusto had a good selection and was yummy!

Waking up to a view of snow-capped mountains right outside my window was a pleasant surprise. The leather slippers provided show the hotel's attention to quality amenities. The breakfast was good value for money; I bought a voucher on the spot, and while the selection wasn't huge, the quality was excellent. Plus, it's super close to Matsumoto Castle, just a five-minute walk. Thumbs up!

Paid parking is available, though the path from the hotel to the car park is not ideal when traveling with luggage, despite the short distance. This is a very good hotel. It's close to the train station, close to tourist attractions, and there are many delicious restaurants nearby.

Everything was excellent. The room was spacious, clean, and very quiet. The soba and ice cream were delicious! The location is perfect—close to the train station and many city attractions. The reception staff provided great service, and I was able to leave my luggage there after checking out.

Not far from Matsumoto Station, this hotel is very new. They offer free ramen and ice cream in the evenings. You can see the snow-capped mountains from the room.

Almost flawless, except for the dim lighting and the noisy exhaust fan. The room was spacious, the bedding comfortable, and the shampoo was of good quality. The temperature was just right (no need to turn on extra heating). The decor was exquisite, there were plenty of charging outlets, and the service was attentive.

Location is good. Hotel and Room is small and minimum amenities and toiletries supply. No daily clean up but has towel changed daily. Overall just a good place to sleep and rest. However, location is good and near the Matsumoto train station. Nearby have a few malls to shop and can find food easily.

The hotel is good, but it might be a bit far from the subway. Another branch would be closer. You can walk to Matsumoto Castle from here. Breakfast is free, but it's not particularly great. You can pack your breakfast to go. Parking might be an issue if you're renting a large van; you'll need to ask the hotel about affordable parking options nearby.

I chose this hotel for its excellent location, close to the Castle and to Nakamachi street. The room was simple but well equipped. This hotel is truly a gem. It’s only six min walk from the station. Fast check in. As Japanese hotels near train station usually very small, we always try to book twin rooms. This twin room has a separate sink outside the bathroom. Best of all this hotel has hot spring, both indoor and outdoor, very nice!

The double room in this somewhat rural location was a decent size. It's about a 7-8 minute walk from the station, and there are 2-3 convenience stores within a 3-minute walk downstairs. The service was good; they helped carry our luggage up after we checked it in early. The signature hot spring bath at Dormy Inn is also excellent.

Quite a grand hotel and we saw various tour groups during our stay here. Location is central and a short walk from the Matsumoto train station. There isn't much to see in Matsumoto itself besides the castle which isn't that big or grand but we used Matsumoto as a base for a day trip to Kamikochi which was beautiful.

Perfect location in Matsumoto especially if you’re planning to visit Kamikochi! It’s close to the JR Station and literally just across the Bus Terminal. The hotel looks old, but it doesn’t matter because the rest of the facilities are good and location is right opposite bus station which is also a plaza with food and supermarket. The hotel staff is really nice, upgraded my room from single to double room. You can purchase the castle ticket from the reception counter if you plan to go, the castle is 15min away by walking.

The location is unbeatable! It's just 200 meters to the right after exiting the station. Remember to book your free onsen experience at Shofukan in the evening. Although Shofukan only offers one large pool, it's more than enough, especially since the hotel provides it for free. Plus, there's complimentary coffee and drinks on the first floor. The hotel was a bit out of the way, in a place with really few tourists. There weren't many places to eat nearby, but there was a 7-Eleven and a well-aged BBQ restaurant within a 5-minute walk, which was okay. Overall, it was a comfortable place.

I booked Route Inn because I thought its selling point was its natural hot springs, but there was no large public bath here, which was disappointing.

There was no problem staying there for work, and it was just right. Personally, I thought it would have been better if they had yogurt for breakfast.

The hotel rooms are relatively old, the front desk service is very good, the breakfast is a buffet with not too many dishes, the taste is OK and it is filling, there is free parking, and the area is relatively quiet.

Location is great, just in front of the station and 10-15 minutes away from the castle. Do not expect it being extremely clean, it’s obvious that there are less tourists in the area.

An old-school Japanese-style hotel, and the smoking area being in the hallway is actually a big plus! The hotel's interior is nice too, although the bathtub is a bit on the small side for me, being a bit plump!

It's a bit cramped, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. There are free alcoholic drinks and beverages near reception, and a breakfast buffet. Everything was great.

we know that the room with bunk bed for 2 persons is 12 sqm. but it looks smaller than expected, but the rest was nice such as service, breakfast and free drink between 5-8 pm.

It's incredibly affordable. The building is old, and some parts are peeling, but it's a buffet style with unlimited alcohol. If you're not too picky about quality, it's a fantastic place to stay.
