What an authentic and memorable experience from the steak to the service (and I live in Miami). I wish I had another day to relax and enjoy this spot bc it is such a hidden gem

Lastly, the staff were kind enough to stand outside in the cold just to wave goodbye to us after we waited and left on a bus. Highly recommend this hotel, we wanted to stay longer because it felt like a second home

We booked last minute and what a find!! From the moment we walked in they greeted us warmly and made us feel like we were their only guests

There was also live music every night, which was very pleasant to listen to. If I have the opportunity, I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others

They are very English friendly and were able to assist us with our transportation and dinner that evening without hesitation. The restaurant was nothing short of amazing

The facilities were excellent, the food was exquisite and delicious with a wide variety, and the staff were attentive, polite, and provided excellent service

This hot spring hotel is close to Matsumoto Station, just a ten-minute drive away. It boasts excellent water quality, a quiet atmosphere with few people, and high-quality food, making it great value for money!

Overall the staff is very attentive and helps you a lot with your requests and gives you some nice Information, even if you can not speak japanese. The breakfast was insane and I ate the best fish of my life

If you can speak Japanese, the explanation is very detailed. There is an open-air bath that can be used all night, and there is no strange smell in the room. Lawson is just outside the door

My sister and I had a lovely time at this hotel, people are just gorgeous, took care of us every second, the breakfast is great, the onsen was amazing

The onsen was quite chill and relaxing. The room itself was simple, but nice and what we expected. One of the best experiences during our japan trip

This 400-year-old Japanese hot spring hotel, despite many of its bathhouse wooden panels being very old, pays great attention to detail. I stayed in winter, and fresh snow covered the rooftops like a layer of cream

27dec2025, no snow day however delight with the region covered with snow such beautiful like fairy tale. Be careful when drive up to Ryokan the road is narrow and icing. made sure ur car is with winter tyre

We stayed there from 25 to 27 October. The food, the onsen, the view. We loved the experience!!!! On top of that all the staff is absolutely amazing and friendly. We are really glad that we stayed here

also preferable 4wd, i rent the 2wd with winter tyre, drivable but really need skill and careful driving. Don't miss and dont' be shy for the mixed bath is a very enjoying scenery bathing outdoor

There really much else to do around here but explore the mountains and relax in onsens. If you want peace and quiet, this is the place

The Shirahone Onsen is located 1h by car from the Matsumoto station (19,000 yen by taxi), in the mountains, far from everything. You come here for one thing only: relax at the Onsen

The staff was kind and helpful. The location of the Ryokan is magnificent , up in the mountain . We really loved it. The onsen was fantastic. Everything was neat. The dinner was amazing too.

On the downside, the kaiseki dinner was nice, but they don't open during the day, and so you are left with dried noodles ! So it is recommended to buy some food in Matsumoto before going there

Spectacular view, great hospitality & friendly staff, we booked room with halfboard which was nice (dinner is 10/10 but breakfast is pretty simple), despite being the smallest size of unit mix but 10tatami room is big enough for 4ppl with bags, the building is single corridor design thus all guest rooms have moutain view

The common areas of the hotel are not fancy and would benefit from a refreshing, but the Japanese style room is very spacious and we had a soothing view on the stream

Super clean and friendly Japanese family who runs it. The ryokan has number of rooms but they only take limited groups each night so can uphold the quality and services to customers

An excellent natural hot springs in old (Showa era) style ryokan inn. Reasonable, unpretentious, at home, quiet and relaxing - with a mere sub $100 per person for 2 meals a night.

Pretty Riokan with nice dark honsen. The lady is lovely and she speaks a good enough English! Good wi-fi connection . The breakfast is really good as well

It’s a traditional japanese style ryokan. Even though most of the signs and instructions are in japanese, the service staff took the time to show and explain the facilities and amenities available to us in English

There's a screen in the front that tells you what you owe if you get off at the next stop. Drop that in the slot as you get off at the front door. Between 300 and 400 yen as of this writing

I had the pleasure of staying at Oiwakeya Hotel, a beautiful ryokan that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in a sense of tranquility and tradition

Google maps will tell you to get off at Araibashi stop, but stay on the bus as it loops around to avoid an unnecessary walk down a narrow road. Tsujido is right across from the hotel

The on-site onsen (hot spring) was the perfect way to unwind and relax. The rooms, laid with traditional tatami mats, were spotlessly clean and surprisingly spacious

I was in heaven! The cherry on top was a delicious dinner and breakfast with amazing service. My husband and I did not want to leave! They were very helpful when trying figure out transportation for the next day too

The hotel offer a traditional Japanese settings. It wasn’t crowded and we got to spend a really quality time here. Breakfast and dinner were served. The only downside is the lack of in room shower.

This small inn offers the best food, wine, and hot springs♨️, and the service is wonderful. It's perfect for solo travelers, and I'd definitely recommend it as a place I'd like to visit again!

Everything is perfect at this small but cozy hotel. The foot bath on the balcony is relaxing and you can listen to the sound of the brooks next to the hotel while enjoying the foot bath

Accommodation experience at this hotel makes our three days trip at Kamikochi wonderful and unforgettable

They prepared a room for me near the large public bath, and I used it whenever I had free time, but perhaps because it's less occupancy on weekdays, I didn't meet any other guests and was able to relax

Meals were served in my room, and depending on the menu, there was a heavy smell, but they put a lot of effort into their cooking, so it was very delicious. This is one inn I'd like to stay at again

The hot spring bath isn't very large, but because there are few guest rooms, I was able to enjoy it almost like having it all to myself

I was able to relax and unwind. The room was very spacious, and it had been renovated and was very clean

However, you have to go down stairs to get to the bath, so it might be difficult for elderly people

I stayed here with my family because the hotel had high reviews and offered a discount. Our room was in water-saving mode, but it was relatively empty, so we were able to relax in the hot spring water

They have a super kawaii pet snd the owner made sure that we’re comfortable with pet before letting it play outside

They offer ski rentals, and Mt. Norikura Kogen Ski Resort is within walking distance. It was great that we could put on our skis from the snowy areas and ski down to the lift ticket office

They happened to be in Matsumoto city and delivered them to our home, which we were so grateful for!!!!!! We've sworn to ourselves that we'll definitely stay here the next time we go 😭 They really helped us out this time! Thank you so much!!!!!!

The guest room had three single beds with wheels on the legs, which made it easy to move, but we thought the single beds were a little cramped for our family of four, with an elementary school-aged child sleeping next to us

My family and I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. It's close to the slopes, the food is delicious, and we were very satisfied! All the rooms were equipped with floor heating, so we didn't feel cold

Best of all, when my family accidentally returned our personal poles along with the rental skis we had rented at this pension, we called and asked them to return them cash on delivery

Didn’t try the French restaurant. Staff are professional but not warm like the smaller family owned onsens. There’s a nice short walk to a small dam but nothing much to do on the property (which is ideal for a ryokan)

Wonderful onsen hotel in the countryside near Matsumoto. Easy to get to from Tokyo via train and hotel shuttle. We stayed 2 nights which was perfect

We had a very enjoyable stay at Tobira Onsen Myojinkan. The service levels here are outstanding and truly embodies the concept of Omotenashi
