Didn't pay attention it was a smoker room so it's my bad. But other wise it's what you need to sleep and shower nothing more nothing less. Close the the train station with lot of restaurant nearby.

The room's location is excellent, just a 5-7 minute walk from Hakodate Station, making it very convenient for getting around. There are also many restaurants nearby. It's not too far from the Red Brick Warehouses and Mount Hakodate, just a few bus stops away.

The location is fantastic, about an eight-minute walk from Hakodate Station. There's a McDonald's right next door, a large drugstore across the street, and a convenience store next to the drugstore—it's perfect! If you don't smoke, don't save the non-smoking room fee. The room was quite smelly. The location was terrible, and the facilities were average. The front desk staff was the only good. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone traveling unless you're looking to save money.

5 minutes walk from Hakodate station, although the hotel looks nostalgic but clean and tidy. Staffs are very friendly and helpful, can speak simple English, lift available. Free simple and delicious breakfast. As a solo traveller the twin room are super big for me. Very near to the morning market which sells fresh seafood. At night hotel alley is quite dark.

It's not on a main road so you have to be careful about which way to go, but it's close to the station, restaurants, and markets. The building is old and not suitable for young women, but I felt it had a nostalgic feel to it. They offer breakfast service, which I used, and felt was good value considering the price of the room.

The environment wasn't great in terms of pure ambiance, as it's a rather old hotel. However, the price was incredibly cheap, and the owner was very warm and welcoming, as evidenced by the hand-drawn map of the station area. Plus, although the owner is older, his English is quite good, so communication wasn't a problem. Overall, I quite enjoyed my stay.

Nice location (station is literally just one turn away), good traditional room with futon and yukata. Tea is provided and cute set of cups. Friendly and helpful staff! However, be careful - elevator is hidden and at first I was not pleasantly surprised to bring my luggage to the second floor. Elevator is hidden in the garage. All in all hotel is a bit old, but still nice for staying.

If you want to experience sleeping on tatami mats and futons, this is the hotel for you. Super clean, super friendly staff, and a delicious breakfast. We'd stay there again! Although be warned: the pillows are firm, traditional pillows.

The owner is very nice and only speaks Japanese. There is a coin-operated washing machine. The room is very clean and square. The traditional Japanese-style room is much larger than the one in other cities. However, it is a walking distance from JR and it is the opposite distance from Mt. Hakodate. It is a bit far to the scenic spot. Overall, I am very satisfied.

It's an entirely adequate room to come back to rest in for the night. The air conditioning is a bit lacking, but the weather is usually cool enough to compensate for that. The location is good too. About 5 minutes walk from food, and 15 minutes walk from the bay area. Parking is very limited, so come early to avoid disappointment.

Nice place for budget traveler

The hotel is very close to JR Hakodate Station, only 400 meters away, and a few minutes' walk from the Mispa Supermarket. The hotel is in a separate building; the first floor has a restaurant, cafe, reception, and common lounge area. The common areas are warmly decorated, showing the owner's dedication. The rooms don't have toilets or showers; the public toilets, washrooms, showers, and laundry rooms...

I used it on a business trip. The bath and toilet were shared, and the room was a Japanese-style room with a bed for a clean feeling. I thought the price was a little expensive, but the location was good and I was able to spend a quiet time.

I was staying at a different accommodation, but stopped by the store just after 7:30 PM to buy beer and Yamakawa Farm milk soft serve ice cream (400 yen). The staff member kindly accommodated me, saying it was fine for me to order soft serve ice cream (there is also a restaurant on site, so it was probably after last orders). A nice hotel, to be sure, but stupidly overpriced. The scenery in the area is nothing special, and I mean, seriously, 9000 yen for two meals and the hotel doesn't have a hot spring? And the room doesn't even come with a toothbrush? I don't think so, guys. Just barely three stars, and only because the hotel itself and the food was fine.

The room for three people was small, but the layout was compact, and it even had a small dressing table. There was an ensuite bathroom in the room, and other toilets, washbasins, and a shared shower in the hallway. So, even with three people, using the toilet and showering wasn't cramped. The hotel here is great. The owner is a very kind uncle. He originally said that he couldn't check me in after 10pm. After a phone call, he was willing to wait for me until after 11pm. As soon as I entered the house, he carefully wiped the water off my suitcase with a dry cloth. He also gave me a bag of snacks when I checked out.

Never met such a gracious host. The place is beautiful, upon arrival we felt really welcome even though we turned up earlier than what we advised the hosts. One of the best hotel experiences I've had, I travel a lot. The owner offered to drive me from the train station to the hotel, and to drop off in town. They provided brochures for current local events and were up to date on what was going on that I could go see while I was there.

This pension is in an old Japanese house and the pension is run by a lovely friendly couple. We had a room with an ensuite though most of the rooms do not have ensuites and there are shared bathroom facilities which we did not use. It is really a nice place to stay and have dinner. Within 10 minutes, we could go to the old warehouses, old churches and the cable car station to the top of Hakodate mountain which is view point to see whole Hakodate area, as well as the tram station to go everywhere of city sightseeing. And you must have the dinner, it really delicious!!! And the host and his wife are warm to treat us. I love it...

We stayed with a group of eight adults. There was a large fireplace in the living room and it was a stylish space. There's no problem if you have a car, but it's on a slope so the nearest convenience store might be a bit far if you walk.

A relaxing place with good access There are many rooms and toilets, so even a large group can stay comfortably. It is located in the center of the tourist facilities, so access is excellent. Love the homely layout and location of small town hostel at Motomachi. makes moving around easy from the hotel. location is private and not easily seen as you need to walk down a short path to unit which is behind the street front units. it was quiet and we slept well. staff was also very friendly and explained as much as he could during check-in.
