Hotel Allamanda in Nara

Our experience at this hotel was quite unpleasant. We rented multiple rooms, and in one, the toilet seat didn’t work, while in another, the toilet flush was broken. We ended up having to fix it ourselves since the staff offered no assistance. The rooms are spacious but very old and not well-maintained.

To make matters worse, upon arrival, we were met by a front desk staff member who spoke no English, which made communication nearly impossible. There is no elevator, and staff didn’t help with luggage, making it difficult for elderly guests. If you don’t speak Japanese, you’re unlikely to get any help during your stay.

On the positive side, the parking is free and very convenient, and the location near Hokke-ji Temple is good for sightseeing. However, the restaurant often closes early when they run out of stock, which makes meal planning frustrating.

Overall, this hotel isn’t a great option for non-Japanese speakers or anyone expecting modern amenities. We’ll definitely be staying elsewhere next time.

The room was very cold.

It probably used to be a very nice hotel but as 2020 the equipment is a bit old and would need renewal.
The room was spacious yet old and therefore didn’t get an impression of perfect cleanliness .
Internet did not work (is wifi could connect but their wifi had no connection to the internet). I asked and I was told that it may be the case but then I would need to connect from the lobby... not appreciated.
They had very few guests and rather than giving us the best room they put all guest in the ground floor rooms which have no view...likely easier for the cleaning but not nice considering you can hear the neighbors when taking the bath outside.
No bathrobes and very bare minimum amenities. There was PlayStation 2 somehow with no games - which shows the hotel might have been great fifteen years ago.

Last but not least : the credit card machine did not work and I first asked to pay cash before check in. I refused and so they called the payment center which took a lot of time but they wanted me to wait before getting in the room. We had been walking since all morning and would have appreciated a better service.

At 11am sharp we got a call to exit the room and at 11:15 another call telling us we would have to pay extra if staying over more than 30 minutes.

This hotel is obviously low on cash flow and they probably book a cleaning team for just the minimum time in the morning. Otherwise I only saw once staff managing all.

It is far from the center and hard to access - there is a bus stop 10 minutes ok though.

So I would not recommend if you don’t have a car - and for the same fee one can probably get better closer to the center.

We had chosen this hotel as we wanted to enjoy the bath outside - yet with no view on ground floor room and the fact I had to clean the dusty tub and manage without bathrobes, not the best experience.

I am sorry but they need to improve alot
