This is an excellent hotel with a unique mixed sex onsen facing the ocean with sunset view in addition to free private onsens as well as public sex-separated onsens! The room view overlooks the sea as well as Engetsu Island. Dinner and breakfast are excellent! Strongly recommend!
The hotel facility is excellent and perfectly clean with a high-class traditional japanese service standard. Our room was a deluxe room with private hot spring tub. It's a little pricy while I think it's perfect to celebrate the anniversary with my wife. Dinner and breakfast were good, while it may not be the best comparing with other hotels in the major cities. The sightseeing points are also within...
This is a very typical Japanese hotel with traditional Japanese service. The four hot spring baths are perfect for anyone who enjoys soaking. The rooms are good and the facilities are complete. However, the breakfast was very, very mediocre.
Fantastic hotel. The entire stay was amazing. The hot springs and well maintained with so many options to choose from. In the evenings they have free beverages as well as late night ramen after dinner which is nice. But the lines can get a bit crowded. Not a deal breaker. Staff is super friendly and some of them speak English pretty well or use translate tools. They also have laundry machines to run...
This is my second time here, and I feel the service wasn't as good as my last visit. Last time, someone even escorted me to my room, but this time it felt more like a streamlined process. They offer free beer from 3-5 PM, so you can check in a bit early, grab a drink, and then head out. It's a bit of a walk to Shirahama Beach, but it's manageable. However, the views are truly breathtaking. Even though...
It was a truly magical experience, made even better by the hotel’s very supportive staff. The room was comfortable, and the sea views were breathtaking. The hotel provided both indoor and outdoor natural hot springs. We also tried the dinner set, and both the food quality and service exceeded our expectations.

The main picture is misleading! I couldn't find the hotel after getting off the train. The first attached picture is what it actually looks like! Exit Tottori Station North Exit, and it's diagonally opposite on your left. Look for a large '由' character on the roof; the tall building to its left is the hotel. The front desk was decent, and simple English communication was possible. According to the...
Honestly, I booked this hotel specifically for the rooftop view, and the white sand beach of Shirahama definitely didn't disappoint! Plus, the hotel rooms are quite spacious, which is a rarity in Japan, making for a really great stay!
The hotel is very close to Shirahama Beach, just down a steep slope. The rooms are spacious with great views and new facilities. They offer a free shuttle bus, and the staff are warm and polite. Overall, a fantastic stay.
I saw comments when booking that mentioned a difficult slope leading to the hotel, which made me hesitate whether to change my reservation. I'm glad I didn't. While there is a slope to the hotel, it's not as daunting as some online reviews made it out to be. The Marriott's facilities and services are excellent. The bellhop at the hotel entrance was very welcoming and enthusiastic. The Western-style...
The sea view room offers excellent scenery. Reviews mentioned an uphill walk to the hotel, so we took a taxi with our luggage. Without luggage, walking was fine. The hotel offers bike rentals, and cycling along the coastline for a day was truly wonderful.
I was in Osaka for the weekend and decided to take a spontaneous trip to Wakayama and Shirahama. To my surprise, hotel prices in Shirahama had significantly increased, and some were even fully booked. I figured it might be due to Halloween. The Shirahama Marriott is one of the few international chain hotels in Wakayama, located right next to the famous Shirarahama Beach. The price wasn't too outrageous...

Great hotel in Shirahama, the buffet is great. Different seafood and lots of delicious stuff. Free drinks in different parts of the hotel: beer, wine, coffee and lots of other stuff. Will definitely come back, thanks a lot to the staff!
This hot spring guest house, has many facilities and equipment, very suitable for the whole family to play, we stayed in a five-person room room is really big, dinner chose buffet have many options
Everything is satisfactory except that there is no bathing facilities in the room which is a bit inconvenient.
The hotel dinner is a buffet, with a lot of choices and the quality of the food is very fresh. The room we stayed in this time was a sea view room, which was very spacious. Highly recommended for families to experience the experience because there are many entertainment facilities
The hotel has many facilities, such as table tennis, cycling, and children's game facilities. The hot spring has 3 baths. The men's and women's soups will be exchanged in the morning and evening. Breakfast and dinner are also quick
Location: Not close to the beach, but next to a fishing boat berthing port. It is impossible to walk to the beach. If you want to take your kids to the beach, it is best not to choose this place. There are no convenience stores around. If you don't bring breakfast and dinner, eating will be a problem. Check-in: Deliberately give Chinese tourists a bad room type. I hope everyone will pay attention to...

The "King's Buffet" at Kawakyuu is the real deal! We had both breakfast and dinner, and both were excellent. There's a great selection of Japanese and Western dishes. It's said that many Japanese hotels are known for their individual curry recipe, and Kawakyuu's - a deep, demi-glace based gravy with large chunks of tender-stewed beef - was delicious. The onsen was also very refined, with relaxing...
Everything was great, thank you very much.
I thought there were not enough electrical outlets.
The view from the 8th floor was great. I was concerned about stains on the carpet and bald spots due to aging facilities. I don't like the fact that there are metal fittings without any paintings. The toilet paper is not folded in a triangle, and the hotel should do this as a sign of hospitality without being misled by various theories. The food was also delicious. However, it was unfortunate that...
The hardware facilities of the rooms in hotels built more than 30 years ago are a little nostalgic, but you can imagine the luxury of the time. Overall, it is not bad. The basic rooms are very large. I booked a basic room, but I want to emphasize that the main feature of Kawakyu Hotel should be the breakfast and dinner buffet. The dinner buffet is great!!! When booking a room, you need to confirm whether...

located at mountain top with free car parking, good for self driving trip, room size is big with good view and equipment is bit old but well kept, good real hot spring, dinner and breakfast is above average, bedding is comfortable
I have completed a self-driving tour in Japan with the Sanbaibing Hotel. The hotel I chose today is a hot spring resort hotel with dinner and breakfast. The price is not cheap. The room is a sea view room with a nice view and a large room. Although the hotel is quite old, it is still clean and tidy. The buffet food in the evening is of good variety, taste and ingredients. The price is worth it. There...
This is a well-established hot spring hotel in a small town. There are no major issues with it. It's been around for decades and is well-maintained. The only downside is that it's located on a hillside, making it a little inconvenient to get in and out, and the bed is too hard.
This was my second stay at this hot spring resort hotel. While the facilities are a bit dated, the service was still excellent. The neon lights at night create a beautiful night view. It was raining a bit on the day we checked in, so we only had a short soak in the outdoor hot spring.
The room was large and had a great view—it was an ocean view room—and the food was excellent. There was even a bathtub in the room 🛁. I originally wanted to rent an electric bike, but the Gogo app isn't available on Chinese phones. I think they should offer a cash payment option. That would be more user-friendly.
There are open-air hot springs, a swimming pool in summer, and a buffet at this price.

awesome location, awesome onsen, we book a traditional japanese room with ocean view, it was fantastic
The hotel facilities are a bit dated, but well-maintained. The white sand beach right outside is absolutely beautiful, and I heard the sand was actually imported from Australia! The half-board (dinner and breakfast) was decent, nothing spectacular but no complaints either.
Right by the beach, I felt incredibly comfortable, and it's super convenient for transport. The whole experience was perfect for just chilling out. I passed by other hotels, but I think this one offers the best value for money.
This hotel is perfect for a vacation! The service is excellent, and the environment is lovely. They offer complimentary coffee, drinks, and even alcohol. The hot springs are also very clean. Plus, the prices inside are quite reasonable.
The hotel's location is perfect, within walking distance to all the attractions and popular restaurants! It would be an absolutely stunning vacation spot, especially in the summer! I highly recommend checking out Omsake nearby.
We later stayed at Taoya in Nachikatsuura, and Shirahama-so definitely offers superior value for money. The location is also excellent, with the beach right outside the lobby. The half-board meals (dinner and breakfast) were delicious; I personally prefer the exquisite Japanese-style set meals.

Nice, so confortable and delicous food. Many things to do and free drinks.
great Japanese style rooms, plenty of room. Location is literally on the beach! Lovely hotel with onsens & pool, however pool is closed from 01 Sept for the off season.
This Hotel is a new facilities and traditional style hotel because their room is divide in two part, the first part is western room which have two single bed and other is tatami room. In fact, It have different facilities, such as Large inside and outdoor spa for male and female separately. It also have great area for rest after spa. guest can have free drink and seat in the sofa or tatami seat...
There is a car park. The hot spring is good, with sauna. The rest area provides draft beer and other soft drink. There is a game centre, and staffs are nice.
seems like a all inclusive hotel, all the entertainments are good especially the hot spring natural and soft!

I rarely leave reviews, but this place is truly amazing and I highly recommend it. From the moment you exit the JR station, the service begins. Upon arriving at the hotel, every corner offers beautiful scenery and pleasant surprises. Both dinner and breakfast were wonderfully Japanese, which I loved. My only regret is that the gym's treadmills can't incline, haha, so I was limited to anaerobic workouts
The environment was great, very clean, and the facilities were new. The food was also good. The only issue was a communication problem with a girl during check-in, but everything was resolved afterward. Recommended.
The location is excellent, and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. The hot spring faces the Pacific Ocean, and watching the sunset from there is incredible. The only downside is the hotel food, which really isn't great 😹. I hope they can improve it. I'd definitely consider staying here again if I get the chance.
The hotel has beautiful views and a peaceful environment. The hot spring experience was excellent, clean and comfortable. However, it's located on a mountain, quite far from the city center, which can be inconvenient without a car.
The location is impeccable, truly the best hotel in terms of where it's situated. It has over 30 rooms. The only downside is that the price has been quite high recently. Breakfast is Western-style, and dinner is Japanese. The Japanese dinner was a delightful surprise – Michelin-standard quality.
The Japanese-style room was spacious and comfortable, and it was lovely to sit on the balcony enjoying the sea view 🍵. The Italian dinner and breakfast were exquisite and delicious 😋. The front desk service was very warm and attentive upon check-in.

I met a guy called the Hatter there. He said we could do anything we want as long as we play some kind of games. Then we played a Game called Witch hunt or something like that. Great experience btw.
it was FANTASTIC!!! i was at the pool area then i realised a game had started.. 10 of hearts? anyways i rushed to the main building and everyone was panicking. It’s quite an imposing place at the beginning. In photos, the hotel seems grand and a feeling of antiqueness to it. Delicious foods and drink. It is a all_inclusive hotel. good onsen and a Warm and wide room condition.
Solo room plan. Got the highest floor with a ocean view, tatami room. Pretty far out from the station but reachable with city bus. It’s near the cliffs attraction and walkable to the ocean hot spring. Checkout was 12pm so you have plenty of time to soak in the hot spring/hot tub/pool/morning walk Buffet food depends on season but better than normal. Had grill/bbq for dinner and breakfast during my...
Nice location, two good play areas for kids, staff are great and I liked the buffet. However the room was quite old, with peeling wallpaper, a lot of stains, and it smelled of cigarettes. The bathroom and tatami seemed new, and sheets, bed, towels etc were clean and comfortable. So room felt old, but not dirty. My main issue was that pop music was playing loudly outside by the pool beyond 11pm at night...
We went in December and used the Wakayama refresh campaign. We had a nice staycation time and enjoy the playing area for kids, foot bath, karaoke, and onsen. They also have an outdoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, and a book corner. It’s a good place if you plan only stay in the hotel. The room was a bit old but it’s okay. The options for dinner and breakfast not much.
Great Onsen, wonderful outside warm swimming pool and hot tubs, vast tasty buffet, fun play areas for little kids and table tennis / amusements for older kids. Walking distance to cliffs. Room was a little dated and ours had a remaining smoking odour but there was lots of space for 6 people and we were only in it for sleeping because there was so much to do.
This was my second stay here and it has been improved greatly.

I don't usually write reviews, but I absolutely loved this hotel! Transportation is great; a bus ride from Shirahama Station to Shin-Yuzaki Station takes about 20 minutes. The architectural style is as described. It was built in the 1990s and is well preserved. Local people will also find it a relatively economical hotel. The room is not soundproofed. The room we chose was fantastic! It had a private tub, so we could enjoy a hot spring bath right in our room. Both breakfast and dinner were incredibly generous. The staff provided excellent service, and there was free parking available. Best of all, the hotel room was literally two steps away from a staircase that led directly to the beach, making it feel like our own private beach 🏖️
The place is a bit remote, the store facilities are insufficient (including catering), or it is more suitable to come here in summer!
I don't know if it was too late to get there, at 4 o'clock I went to the outmost room given to me, looking out the view will see a little withered leaves on the left, but it's beautiful! Suited me perfectly, no frills in a great location, but it ticked all the boxes for me. They have a fantastic open-air hot spring, too.
I come to Wakayama every month, and this is always my go-to hotel. The reasons are its fantastic location, spacious parking, a wonderful onsen, and complimentary breakfast. Plus, it's very affordable! The only downside is that the toilets and washbasins are shared facilities located in the hallway on each floor, not available en-suite.
Pros: 1. Excellent value for money. 2. There's a bus stop (for Senjojiki-guchi and Sohara-no-yu) and a ramen shop (serving decent food) conveniently located right in front of the hotel. The room was small but spotless. Do note that the bathroom is shared – if that's a deal-breaker, you might want to consider other options. The hot spring, however, was fantastic; I absolutely loved it!

Driving is recommended for visiting Shirahama. The hotel is very close to the three main scenic spots of Shirahama (Engetsujima Island, Senjojiki, and Sandanbeki), each a few minutes to ten minutes' drive away.
