I was surprised to see black algae floating in the bathwater, but after researching, I learned that it's also a type of mineral deposit.
I had mistakenly thought it was only white, sulfurous deposits.
It's iron and zinc that have oxidized, resulting in a slimy, black or reddish-brown substance floating and settling.
They should put up a sign saying that it's not due to poor cleaning and that people shouldn't misunderstand.
After learning about it, I started rubbing it on my body as a mineral component.
There were a few stink bugs in the open-air bath, but I didn't mind.

The location is great, with a direct bus connection, though you do have to walk up some stairs. The room is spacious and well-equipped, and the hot spring bath is very clean. It's a 15-minute walk to a 24-hour supermarket, and Shirahama Beach is right downstairs. It's a room with an ocean view.

Aside from having to carry luggage uphill for a bit after getting off the car, everything else was impeccable. The views, including both sea and cityscapes, were perfectly situated. There's an izakaya across the street that's also excellent and worth trying. The beaches on either side are only about two to three hundred meters away on foot.

It's a members-only hotel. I've stayed there several times.
I love the hot springs ♨️.
I cook my own dinner and breakfast, and I enjoy cooking and eating them.

Location: Superb location, even closer to the sea than the Marriott on the map. The bus stop is right down the hill. You get a direct sea view from the window.

Good points: The AC works well. There were quite a few bugs, but luckily they were all outside the screen window.

Downsides: 1) The public bath changing room requires you to be barefoot, and the floor was a bit cold. 2) The room's decor was absolutely horrifying… we were genuinely scared, my friend and I even slept with the lights on, haha!

October 8-10, 2025 (2-night stay)
The spacious living/dining room and bedroom have a full kitchen, and are equipped with a bathroom, toilet, and washing machine. Being on the first floor, there was also a spacious terrace.
The large public bath has two indoor baths and a dry sauna, as well as an open-air bath. The sauna is a single-tiered seating area for 3 people, with a room temperature of 96℃ and no 12-minute timer, only a 5-minute hourglass.
The cold plunge pool is for 1 person, with a water temperature of around 22℃? Perhaps it's a bit higher because there are many senior users...? If you want a colder shower, please use the shower in the washing area without disturbing your neighbor.
You can see the sea of ​​Nanki from the rooftop observation terrace.
There are many hot springs in the surrounding area, as well as tourist attractions such as Senjojiki and Sandanbeki. By car, Koyasan is about 125km one way, Wakayama Castle is 100km, and Kumano Nachi Taisha is 110km, so it can be considered to be in the central part of Wakayama Prefecture.

I really liked the hotel. A large room with tatami and a big table. Not very new renovation and it is very strange that there is no shower in the room. Also there are no utensils for cooking, pots, forks and even plates had to be taken from the second floor! But these are trifles, the sea is nearby, the room is nice

I love this hotel so much: comfortable and spacious rooms, unobstructed sea views, complete facilities, clean, and the hotel staff is super friendly, choose with your eyes closed!!! The hotel has a modern lobby on the first floor, and there are laundry rooms and bathhouses on the first floor, which are separated by men and women! Laundry room: Wash and dry separately, 100 yen for 30 minutes, usually done in an hour, remember to pick it up in time. The second floor is a public shower room, which is separated by men and women and has strong independence. There is also a public kitchen with complete equipment. Ingredients can be bought at the seafood market. The public kitchen has everything. Other seasonings can be bought at Lawson downstairs, which is super convenient! This is the second time I came to Shirahama. This time I chose to stay in Shirahama. I stayed for a total of two nights. I chose this hotel for both nights. I went to Kii Katsuura for one night in the middle. This time I stayed in Japan for 7 nights. This hotel is my favorite hotel on this trip! I will come again next year if I have the chance!
