Hotel Sun Resort Shirahama in Shirahama

This hotel is located slightly far away from the major tourist areas but this also resulted in providing an quiet atmosphere for those who stayed in this hotel. The rooms are clean and provided with a private outdoor bath. Both the dinner and breakfast they provided were delicious. The facilities are a bit outdated but definitely usable. For the price they charge, I get more than what I expect and definitely recommended for those who visit Shirahama.

This is an inn where you can relax.
It's close to tourist attractions, but in a quiet place, so I thought it was a great location.
The food was delicious, and the hot springs were very relaxing.
The tub bath in the room was also fresh and felt great!

The open-air bath had a great view!
It's on a hill with a great view,
and when you move from the indoor bath to the open-air bath,
you can get a glimpse of the residential area.
But is it really that rare that you can't see this from outside?
Men and women alternate bathing in the morning and evening.

The hair dryer has a weak airflow,
so if you have long hair, you might want to bring your own!

I stayed in a twin room without meals. My room was room 313.
The moment I entered the room, I noticed a faint smell of cigarette smoke. It seems the smell from the former smoking room hasn't completely disappeared. It's something you get used to after a while, but I noticed it every time I entered the room. When booking, I asked the front desk if I could request a non-smoking room, but the current staff said they didn't know about the time when there were smoking rooms. It might be a good idea to request one when booking.

The hot spring water is odorless and has a slightly salty taste, so it doesn't feel very much like a traditional hot spring, but the view from the open-air bath is beautiful (see video; I recorded it because no one was there). The small tub on the room's balcony was also very pleasant. I didn't want to dilute it with water, so I filled it with just hot water as soon as I checked in and used it at night and late at night; it was still warm and very comfortable.

The refrigerator was a two-door model and was already chilled. Since I booked a room without meals, I bought some prepared food and sashimi at the nearby Oakwa supermarket, so it was very convenient.

The facilities are old, but they are clean and well-maintained. For this price and these facilities, I would definitely stay again.

Although the location is relatively remote, it is very convenient to drive in and out, and there is a parking lot, which is very convenient for self-driving tours. The room is also spacious and open, and the bathroom is also large! The room has a nostalgic atmosphere, although it has seen some days but it is still OK. The most heartwarming thing is that there is a large massage chair in the room to relieve fatigue 👍 and there is a hot spring bathtub on the terrace of the room where you can enjoy a very private hot spring bath. The hotel also has a hot spring bath for guests to enjoy! The hotel staff are very friendly 👍 so you will feel welcome 😄

The hotel is located a bit out of the way.
There are no convenience stores or restaurants nearby.
If you plan to rent a car and stay there, I highly recommend it. If you plan to use public transportation by walking, you will have to walk about 15 minutes to the bus stop.
Consider this.
The outdoor pool is not that big, but it was comfortable for families to swim in, and the rooftop bath was cheap and easy to use.
Overall, I am satisfied.
Next time, I will rent a car instead of walking.

Driving is recommended for visiting Shirahama. The hotel is very close to the three main scenic spots of Shirahama (Engetsujima Island, Senjojiki, and Sandanbeki), each a few minutes to ten minutes' drive away.

The hotel rooms were clean; we stayed in a Japanese-style room. Meals included, and dinner and breakfast were delicious. The staff were friendly.

The outdoor hot spring offered a view of the night sky; soaking in the hot spring while gazing at the stars and moon was incredibly relaxing. The Japanese-style rooms were large and clean.

A very good hotel for the price, with an onsen and sauna included. A bit out of the way, but if you enjoy quiter areas, then it's perfect.
