The hotel is large! I remembered having to walk about 5 mins after parking all the back at the back of the carpark. There's so many good things about the hotel. I will just highlight 3 things. Firstly the variety of the food at the buffet restaurant was awesome and so tasty. Secondly the facilities were amazing - indoor heated pool, games room, a shop that sells local produce, launderette etc. Thirdly...
The observatory was a bit disappointing. It was just a rooftop. The chapel building was pretty. There were too many people. Overall, it was okay.
I wish I could see the mountain behind me.
I took my elderly mother with me, and we were able to see the beautiful autumn leaves, the open-air bath was very comfortable, and the food was a buffet so we could eat as much as we wanted of what we liked, so everyone had a great time without any stress.
The environment is excellent, the service is great, and there are many activities to participate in at the hotel. Highly recommended!
I've been here many times. The food is really delicious. I'll be back next time I'm in Nasu!
My kids loved the pool. It gets crowded during meal times, so it's best to plan ahead. It was convenient to be able to use the room card to shop within the hotel. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay, so I think it was good.

Amazing stay here! This chain is just very good In Japan! Staffs are excellent and room condition is very clean and neat. Will definitely visit again if in the area
I went my family and stayed 2 nights ! We were told some rooms were not yet renovated, the problem was not that the room we had was old the problem was it was dirty ! The indoor kids areas looked fun but the toys were old and broken. The train was out of services. The outside area was pretty good and basically made the whole staying worth.
We had breakfast and we were not impressed, food wasn’t amazing...
Grand Mercure Nasu Highland is a wonderful stay! I loved the panoramic mountain views and the unlimited soft-serve ice cream at the breakfast buffet 🍦 The washing machines were clean and convenient, and the strong, high-quality hairdryer was definitely a favorite. Would happily stay here again!
Excellent will come back and stay Mecure Nasu again. Lots of activity for kids and have an excellent free bar.
At check in, the front desk female staff briefed me that my family and I could enjoy the Night Lounge snacks later though we did not purchase the dinner nor breakfast meals. Perhaps a better way to phrase it is “the night lounge is open to all hotel guests”. Not sure if it is due to language barrier.
The room is noisy from early in the morning, given that there many children are already up and perhaps...
I booked one night at the hotel as a waypoint for my onward trip to Yamagata from Narita. I was pretty blown away by the surroundings and the view of the mountains provided by the rooms. The staff were very courteous and the western style rooms large and clean. The hotel is resort like and definitely caters to families with children. The breakfast spread was huge and the food excellent! My only regret...

The hot springs and dinner were great. The room was spacious and comfortable.
The facility has a historic feel, but the service is good.
There's a convenience store near the lobby, which is convenient.
I thought it might be a little late, but I went to see the autumn leaves in Nasu, and since I was there, I decided to stay overnight. So, I stayed at Wellness Forest Nasu.
The facility is old, but everything seemed to be kept clean. Scratches and dents were understandable, and it did show a bit of age.
Amenity services are labor-saving, so you have to bring what you need from the lobby, as is the current...
This time, a friend introduced me to the hotel and I stayed there, and I was very pleased.
It wasn't new, but it seemed well maintained and was a comfortable place to stay.
I stayed at the Oriental Kan for one night. It took about 30 minutes to get there by bus from Nasu-Shiobara Station, but it was very comfortable. The room was only accessible by stairs, which may have been a challenge for seniors, but the room was spacious and had more than enough space. The bathroom was a little low and a little old-fashioned, but it was still clean. Dinner was a French course meal...

The best onsen in Nasu area. The staffs is always ready to welcome u on arrival, they provide very friendly hospitality. The traditional Japanese dinner js superb!
Wonderful Sake Brewery tour with lunch and sake tasting. Owner of the company gave us the tour. We took a train there from Kyoto and it was a very nice day.
The soup is good. The service is OK. Actually, it all depends on the waiter.
Overall it's good and the free massage chair is very comfortable
Very good hotel, hope to have the opportunity to visit again in the future!
Traditional Onsen Hotel!
Staffs were friendly, food were nice!
Onsen with landscaping, not big but pretty nice!
Liked it a lot. Traditional japanese dinner and breakfast was super. Traditional rooms also super experience. Onsens bery beautiful in autumn colors. So as part of a japan trip i would include this hotel. Also garden is very pretty. Thanks for super stay!

We stayed here for a golf trip and were pleasantly surprised! The dining was fantastic, the rooms were lovely, the hot springs were incredibly relaxing, and the service was top-notch. It's a little far from the highway exit, but that wasn't an issue and it's perfect for those traveling by car.
The room, the food, and the view from the room were all fantastic. I could really unwind and relax. I'd love to stay here again on my next visit to Nasu.
My friend's family and I stayed here for a golf trip, occupying two rooms for a total of four people. We were extremely satisfied with everything: the meals, guest rooms, views, facilities, and of course, the golf course.
However, what was truly unacceptable was a staff member using a handheld vacuum cleaner on the table next to us while we were still dining during dinner. It completely spoiled our...
My room featured a balcony with views of the golf course, making for a very comfortable stay. The course meal truly impressed me with its creative and thoughtful preparation of vegetables and fruits, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was the perfect hotel for someone like me looking for a quiet, solo retreat. Next time, I'm looking forward to joining the stargazing night tour.
We were completely satisfied with everything: the room, the food, the communal bath, and the staff's hospitality. If I had a couple of minor suggestions, it would be great if bath towels were available in the communal bath, and if the washbasin faucet in the room were designed to prevent water from splashing and pooling around it. This is because I'm quite particular about faucet hygiene, considering...
We were very satisfied with the golf course view from the hotel, the quality of the onsen, the upgraded meal we ordered, and the staff's service. My only minor feedback is that the front desk didn't quite feel like a proper front desk.

Lovely ryokan in a serene setting. Although it’s in a relatively remote area it’s easy enough to get to from the closest Shinkansen station by bus if you don’t have a car and is only a 3-4 minute walk from the bus stop.
The outdoor onsen was very pleasant, especially when surrounded by the snowy scenery. There’s also a semi-open air bath that you can reserve for yourself and any companions for a certain...
An old-style hot spring hotel with good service
It was a fabulous stay. This Onsen hotel may be small but the staff tried the very best to assist you. The traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were fantastic. The Onsen was also really good - they would also allocate a private timeslot for you to enjoy some solo time.
Wonderful onsen! Rotenburo is comfortable and relaxing with a great forest feeling.
Very beautiful old ryokan. We got a room with a private bath that was very warm and the scene outside was nice. The bigger outdoor bath has a great view! The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming☺️
The food and hotel service was good.

The room was clean and hygienic, the staff were friendly, the breakfast and dinner were delicious, and the WiFi speed was the best and fastest I had during this trip. I would stay here again!
Everything from the arrival to the departure we felt right at home. Rooms and onsen were very nice, the welcome drinks a nice added feature and the dinner and breakfast were absolutely wonderful. We will definitely come again.
Loved everything about this accommodation. Amazing food and onsen
Stayed in the rooms called 'Bettei Rikka'. They have a private bath in their balcony. So we could enjoy hot spring at anytime we want. Also the service staffs are really kind for us.
The food, the service from the staff, and the flowing river in front of the inn were soothing. I would like to go again.
The room was Japanese-style and the experience was great. Being in the mountains was so relaxing; you couldn't see a soul, haha. Aside from a slight odor from the hotel, everything else was perfect. Those who like off-the-beaten-path experiences should definitely give it a try!

I definitely want to go again!
Even though we had children, we were able to relax and the staff were very kind. This time, we only had breakfast, but it was delicious!
Overall, it was good, but the facilities are a bit outdated.
The facility had been renovated and was clean, but there were insects that bothered me.
The customer service was very pleasant and I would like to use them again.
The food was very tasty and well prepared.
The toilets were a bit smelly.
Please note that there are no places to eat within walking distance.
I used a day trip hot spring. The soba was delicious with the lunch set. In addition, there are two EV chargers in the facility, and I charged them during my stay.

i stay 3times there i love the room and esp.the food but this time i dont like the room.its very small for 3person like the other times i stay only 2person but the room is big now it's 3person it's very very unconvience.😡😡😡
Although it is a renovated facility, it has the quality of Oedo Onsen and the interior is very beautiful.
The buffet is also enjoyable with a wide variety of local dishes.
Unfortunately, on the first day, another large open-air bath was under renovation. Although the room had a bed, the air conditioner was still the old-fashioned one, and the sound was a bit too noisy.
It would have been nice to have bowling alley.
I was glad that we could enjoy the summer festival events inside the building.
I'd like to use it again.
I was able to relax. The food was also satisfying... but the line for the seafood bowl at breakfast was terrible.
I had an old acquaintance's wake in Nasu-Shiobara at short notice, and had been curious about the hot springs there, so I decided to go.
The hotel staff were very kind and helpful.
There were lots of baths to enjoy.

This hotel offers incredible value for money, and the hot springs weren't crowded at all, which was a huge plus. The dinner was absolutely fantastic, a real highlight! 👍 After dinner, there was even an acrobatic show in the lobby.
Not very accessible as we need to connect 2 trains from Tobu-Nikko to the Kinagawaonsen station. In addition have to take a taxi to the Onsen Hotel. Walking takes about 20 minutes which is not advisable in the winter season.
The room was spacious, the food was delicious and it was a wonderful day.
It was immaculately clean. The service was also very polite and attentive, which I truly appreciated. We had both dinner and breakfast, and the food was delicious, making for a perfectly satisfying trip.
The facilities are slightly dated, but that vintage charm is precisely what makes for such a unique experience.
The hotel is great! The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with many facilities like karaoke, a game center, and more. I visited with my family, a total of 14 people, and they were able to arrange a private room for us for both dinner and breakfast. Both meals were buffet-style and absolutely delicious.

The room was very clean and we had a great view of the Kinugawa River!
The hotel also had a calming atmosphere, so I'm glad I stayed at this hotel!
I'd love to stay here again!
The hotel is in a good location and the hot spring is also very large. However, the parking lot is a bit inconvenient because it is far away and you have to walk more than a kilometer and take the hotel bus! I will come again next time.
great interior, nice view. onsen a old but good cosmetics
The hotel facilities are complete, the hot spring environment is beautiful, and there is also a swimming pool for me to experience, which is enough for me to have a good swim. I feel comfortable physically and mentally after experiencing these two projects! Personally speaking, the dinner service mode suits me very well, the design is very unique, and I come back with a full meal!

Good service, Nice view. Clean room.
Good facility
A bit aged interior decoration... meals are disappointed... over price..
The service is excellent, all the staff are so nice, and the food is also delicious.
really amazing service especially the onsen the adult food. rooms are a little outdated. It did catch us off guard as it was about 1000 USD for two nights for the 3 kids and their meals were like pasta and fries. I am not sure we would have spend this money staying with kids. Better suited for adults or if money really isn't an issue spending already so much at the hotel.
Nice accommodation, good service, but average food
The breakfast and dinner place is comfortable and rich, the room is large and comfortable. I originally booked a Japanese-style room, but my friend couldn't sleep on the floor and asked to change to a bed room. The staff immediately helped to deal with it. The staff service was very good.

Great value onsen-ryokan in KinugawaOnsen. The best thing from this ryokan would definitely be the amount of public baths they have. There were 2 outdoor bathes available for each division, and in order for you to try all of them, you’ll have to visit both at night and morning the day after, as the bath location changes for men and women.

Very nice hotel and super friendly staff, highly recommended
It was clean. The hot spring was spacious. The food was delicious and there was a wide variety of options.
Our family is very satisfied with this itinerary. We like this hotel very much. There is a music performance in the evening. The staff is very polite and the waiter can communicate with us in Cantonese. It is a very personal service.
The hotel staff is very friendly and the facilities are very complete. The Tateiwa Suspension Bridge and the observatory are definitely worth a visit.
Booked 3 nights, no breakfast or dinner so I can't comment on that.
Staff were generally friendly and helpful.
The exterior of the building seemed a little dated, it was about a 5-10 minute walk from the station and a little out the way up a small hill, no problem if you've rented a car but if you have a large suitcase and are walking it can be tiresome.

We enjoyed our stay at Nanaeyae during autumn. The staff were wonderful throughout and served us delicious meals. We also particularly enjoyed the onsen bath which was well-maintained and invigorating.
Nanaeyae went above and beyond my expectations, from the food, to the room and especially the hospitality from everyone we met there. I highly recommend ordering their in-house sake with the kaiseki dinner - it was absolutely delicious. Very thankful for the amazing stay.
Not so worth the price..view from room was good, location was good, but food not worth for what i paid for, dinner and breakfast served a bit normal, taste normal, when breakfast time i ask for a pack of seaweed(only 2 packs on table), the staff was very loud and replied me 'No No No'! Like I'm requesting addditional main dishes from them, I''m a bit shock this is just a small thing and didn't worth...
Overall good. Quite a number of non-Japanese receptionists and servers.
We had a lovely stay, experiencing aspects of Japanese culture - such as the food, Japanese room and the beautiful onsen. It was further away from the Nikko World Heritage Site than we realised when booking. However, we rather enjoyed the picturesque train ride there each day.

The staff were all wonderful and I had a very comfortable stay.
There were no sightseeing spots nearby and I was worried about how to kill time until my train, but they let me wait on a sofa in the hotel lounge, and since it was raining, they drove me to the station in their luxury car.
Great hotel and great staff. Very well maintained facilities and well curated breakfast and dinner. Great pickup and drop off service from and to the train station. Everyone at the hotel is very friendly and polite.
Enjoyed our stay very much. We would visit again.

Fabulous service and food. Very comfortable, within easy reach to Nikko by car.
Kinugawa Kanaya Hotel is an incredible property with unparalleled Japanese hospitality. The stunning surroundings are matched by the dedication of the staff, especially Moeka, who was exceptionally personable and professional. Her service made my stay unforgettable. Highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting the area!
This amazing hotel is located in the heart of Kinugawa with views over the gorge and is a 15 minute drive to Nikko.
