Wellness Forest NASU in Nasu

The hot springs and dinner were great. The room was spacious and comfortable.

I thought it might be a little late, but I went to see the autumn leaves in Nasu, and since I was there, I decided to stay overnight. So, I stayed at Wellness Forest Nasu.
The facility is old, but everything seemed to be kept clean. Scratches and dents were understandable, and it did show a bit of age.
Amenity services are labor-saving, so you have to bring what you need from the lobby, as is the current trend, but the amenities themselves were not cheap.
I sometimes hurt myself with a shaver at cheap business hotels, but I could have prevented that with a little care (lol).
Overall, I had a good impression of the bath (private reservations available), dining room, staff, and cost.
I ate out for dinner, so I can't speak for myself, but the breakfast had a wide variety, which was a challenge for my husband, who is a picky eater.
Perhaps the timing was good, as I was able to enjoy the private bath and also soak in the large public bath, both indoors and outdoors, to soothe my fatigue.
The north wind was strong on the day we stayed, and we parked on the north side of the road, so although we knew this would be difficult, it was still a struggle to remove the dead pine leaves from our car the next morning.

This time, a friend introduced me to the hotel and I stayed there, and I was very pleased.

It wasn't new, but it seemed well maintained and was a comfortable place to stay.

I stayed at the Oriental Kan for one night. It took about 30 minutes to get there by bus from Nasu-Shiobara Station, but it was very comfortable. The room was only accessible by stairs, which may have been a challenge for seniors, but the room was spacious and had more than enough space. The bathroom was a little low and a little old-fashioned, but it was still clean. Dinner was a French course meal, but it was relaxed and I was able to wear my pajamas. All the food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast offered a wide variety of Japanese and Western desserts, and I ended up overeating. The hotel's hospitality was evident in the drinks, ice cream, and lactic acid bacteria drinks, which I really appreciated. I would definitely return.

The rooms were spacious and the views from the rooms were beautiful. There was also a hot spring, so we were able to relax. Dinner was a course meal, but the portions were just right and everything was delicious.
There were many popular tourist spots in Nasu around the hotel. I would like to use this hotel again when I come to Nasu.

Delicious breakfast

I stayed in a Moderate Twin room in the European Wing with my two sons. While the European Wing seems to be showing its age, the furnishings clearly reflect thoughtful design, and the room was spotlessly clean. I read a book about the hotel that was in our room and learned it was built with a very elaborate concept, which made me hope it continues to operate as a hotel for many years to come.

One small point: some of the curtains were quite old and tattered; it would be good if they could be replaced.

We enjoyed both the public bath (大浴場) and a private reserved bath (貸し切り風呂). Both featured free-flowing (kake-nagashi) hot spring water of excellent quality, making for a truly pleasant soak. The public bath has an older structure, but it was kept very clean, and we enjoyed a relaxing experience, appreciating its history.

For dinner, we had the course meal. The appetizers and soup were delicious. While the staff adhered strictly to their manual and didn't go above and beyond, their service was perfectly professional, and we didn't experience any discomfort. The roast beef was just okay. However, the fish and chicken dishes were overly salty, and I hope they review their seasoning. Overall, the dinner left a rather 'just passable' impression.

We also thoroughly enjoyed the late-night ramen (yonaki soba). It might be quite unusual even for a Kyoritsu Resort to offer yonaki soba in a Western restaurant. It took a while for it to be served, but the taste was consistently delicious.

We stayed here to attend an event at another golf course, but we couldn't have breakfast because it started at 7:30 AM, which was too late for our schedule. I thought it would be great if they could open earlier or offer lunch boxes. (I called to inquire, but was curtly told that lunch boxes were not possible). Perhaps this is just how it is at a resort.

The attached golf course looked like a flat course suitable for a casual round, and I'd love to play there with my sons if I get the chance. If this facility were closer, it would definitely be a place I'd consider revisiting.

In summary, the room we stayed in was unique and mostly satisfactory, the dining was a bit questionable in terms of value for money, but the hot springs were very satisfying. I believe this is a unique property among Kyoritsu Resort hotels, and if I ever visit Nasu again, I would certainly consider staying here.
