Kyushu, Karatsu, Higashi Jounai 4-3, 847-0016 Karatsu, Prefektura Saga, Yaponiya 🧭 Map
There is an elevator, but it feels a little cold in the winter. The main dishes were squid and steamed raw abalone. Parking is free across the street, and only cash is accepted.
There is a famous sushi restaurant in the town near Karatsu Castle that requires reservations.
Very good sashimi and meals. Very friendly ryokan. Will highly recommend to friends.
We stayed at this ryokan in early November 2021, when the fourth wave of COVID 19 was rapidly subsiding. It was pouring when we arrived at the ryokan in Karatsu, close to the castle and facing the beach. I had thought that it was a restaurant offering lodging, but I understand that it was the other way around. In any event, a lady came out, showed us the car park, and brought us umbrellas. We went...

Facilities: Average, slightly outdated Cleanliness: Needs further improvement Environment: Riverside room, great night view Service: Although there was a language barrier, the staff were warm and friendly. Very quiet; a good night's sleep is more important than anything else for travelers.
Facilities: The facilities are complete and clean. The soundproofing is only so-so. Hygiene: Clean and hygienic, no issues. Environment: Located by the sea, the view and environment are very nice. Service: The service is warm and attentive.
We were upgraded to a room with a view of Karatsu Castle from the window. The staff were very helpful and checked public transport information for us. Nijinomiyahara in Karatsu Bay is less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
The Japanese-style rooms aren't ideal for older people; you have to change shoes before entering the hotel and there's a seating arrangement in the room. The view is absolutely stunning; you can enjoy views of Karatsu Castle from the room, especially the beautiful night view. The service is also very good; they can communicate in English.
I was worried about checking in because I arrived at 12 noon, but I was pleasantly surprised. The guesthouse owner was very friendly and welcoming, showing me around and explaining things. I was satisfied with the room, and the guesthouse was in a great location.
Facing the sea, it's convenient to go anywhere. You can walk to Karatsu Castle, Seaside Pine Field, and the showerheads of Yuri and Makachin. It's a recommended accommodation for the Yuri pilgrimage route.

Decent room size for Japan. Mattress was comfortable. Lots of eateries just downstairs. Would be good if there were more power sockets in the room though
All in all is good in the area for this price range. One shower in the 8 beds dorm could be too little if most needs a shower in the morning before checking out by 10 am
Escaping the high hotel prices in Fukuoka on a Saturday, I took the subway for an hour and a half to Karatsu and chose this hostel. The experience was great. It's in a small city, just a five-minute walk from JR Karatsu Station. The front desk had instruction manuals, and the staff's English was fine. The check-in iPad supported Chinese. The room had two separate restrooms and one shower room. The...
The hotel is in a very convenient location and overall the place is quite clean. Our room did have a noticeable smell when we checked in, but having an air purifier in the room helped manage it. The staff were friendly and pleasant to interact with. Overall, it was a good stay with just a minor issue.
Close to the station and generally very clean. Everyone was very considerate. The black tea at breakfast downstairs was particularly delicious; it had a unique aroma. There are many great restaurants nearby, and everyone was very welcoming. Karatsu was my favorite part of this trip.
The room was clean, hygienic, and comfortable. The ambiance was elegant, warm, and romantic. It's conveniently located very close to the train station.

Kyushu, Karatsu, 6-13 Nishijyonai 🧭 Map
The building seems old, but the rooms were renovated and clean. The twin room was spacious enough to spread out two carry-on bags. The shower room was small, but I thought it was adequate considering the price. There was also a large public bath (men and women alternate hours). It's about a 10-minute walk from the station, but you can also walk to Karatsu Castle and the coast, so it's recommended for...
The location is not bad, but it would be helpful if you could let us know in advance whether there is a parking lot. The bed was slightly tilted to the right. I'm not sure if it was because it was on the third floor, but the water pressure in the shower was quite low, which was disappointing.
The price is cheap but the rooms are small.
It was already past 10pm when we arrived at the hotel, and we didn't get to experience the big bath. There was no one at the front desk when we arrived, and we called for a long time before an old man came out, and we finally completed the formalities. The room was average, and the mattress was uncomfortable to sleep on, but the price was cheap, so we stayed there for one night and left.
The rooms were full during the cherry blossom season and there was only this hotel. I booked one night. It was similar to the reviews on ***********. It was in a small corner of a residential alley near the commercial street. It was dark at night. The hotel was clean and overall OK. The facilities were old. The front desk could speak English and was quite friendly. It was about eight or nine minutes...
The staff are very friendly. I told them I didn't need breakfast because I was leaving early in the morning, and they kindly replied, "I'm very grateful. I'd like to come again.

A nice hotel with a nice location close to Karatsu Castle!
It was a rather peculiar hotel. Only one middle-aged woman sat at the front desk, and the lobby was filled with various "antiques" but very quiet. Opposite the lobby was a pavilion with a clock that automatically chimed on a fixed time. Overall, it was alright, considering the price.
It seems to be run by a family, and the location is good, far from the train station but close to Karatsu Castle. Those who arrived early could check in directly. This situation is relatively rare in Japan, which is good.
The hostel facilities are relatively retro, and the price is reasonable. It is close to the tourist attractions. You can see Karatsu Castle across the river in front of the door. There is a funny Taiko clock across the street, and a little man comes out to beat the Taiko at every hour. It doesn't knock until late at night.
I liked the hotel atmosphere because it gave off an old Japanese vibe. The person checking in was friendly and nice.
It's a small hotel and it's a little inferior to the major chain hotels, but it's worth the price and it's okay. A bit far from the city center. The parking lot is narrow and the number of cars is small. I could see Karatsu Castle from the window of my room, but it was farther and smaller than I expected because it was quite far away. It is within walking distance to visit. It was a plan without...
