Excellent breakfast buffet. The room is spacious and staff are very friendly. If you drive by car, there is ample parking space here.
Nice view of the river from our room. Nice view of both the ocean and the river from the breakfast restaurant on the top floor. Breakfast is good. Sauna is good. Hot pool is average.
We booked a Japanese-style room with a sea view balcony. I really like the bike rental, shuttle service and refreshments! They agreed to book the shuttle for me via email because I cannot phone calls. Staff are nice. Room is clean and you can enjoy the public bath, including a small sauna room. All in all, this is a good place to stay with your family!
Not bad. While the room is very old, it’s kept clean. Aircon could be colder but you can open the window if you feel warm/stuffy. The onsen, relaxation lounge and free drinks at night were amazing!
Good free lounge at night with drinks and snacks. Room a bit dated and old, can open windows.
On my recent 8-day solo trip to Japan, among all the hotels I booked, yours was the most expensive and the one I had the highest hopes for. However, my actual stay was incredibly disappointing. This significant letdown compels me to provide serious feedback — your hotel utterly betrayed my trust. Two weeks before my trip, I booked a sea view room at your hotel via the Trip.com app and specifically...

Great onsen with free ice cream and amazing thermal pool with stunning view.
It is probably the best hotel in Karatsu city with beautiful sea view. This hotel has various facilities, including SPA, onsen and warm swimming tools etc. which is good for family taking the vocation. The buffet is also OK. However, the room rate is not cheap. However, from the viewpoint of taking the family taking, this hotel is still recommended.
Beautiful beach, excellent service, I'd love to go again next time.
This was a truly beautiful and wonderful hotel. The moment I entered the lobby, I was immediately struck by the breathtaking view. The harmony between the ocean view and the pristine white hotel was truly impressive. Every single item was precious and luxurious. There was an indoor heated pool for the kids, and an outdoor hot spring pool for the adults. Surrounded by distant mountains, the swimming...
Breakfast with a sea view was absolutely fantastic, and dinner included hairy crabs. The sea view room had a large balcony with a small bar, which I also really liked.
Great location, excellent service, and delicious breakfast and afternoon tea.

The room is so clean and comfortable
It was a comfortable one night stay. The breakfast spread is good!
The hotel is situated on the riverbank, with rooms offering views of the river and the distant Karatsu Castle. The rooms aren't very large, but they are slightly larger than a typical double room. Each room also includes a small dining table for snacks. The hotel has a public bath, and overall, it's quite nice. Breakfast is served underground, allowing guests to dine outdoors. The food selection...
A very nice hotel. You can even soak in the hot springs at night. It's about a 17-minute walk to Karatsu Castle. I would definitely stay here again next time.
If you speak English well, it will be very convenient, as there are many English instructions. However, the front desk staff's English is generally not good, and check-in is done via self-service in English. If you mind, you can ask them. The day before, I stayed at the Mercure across the street, but the sea view wasn't as good as this one's river view (including Karatsu Castle view), which is very...
Great place for a night stay. The room has its own massage chair and the view of the river makes you feel calm and relax. The public bath open till 10.30 pm so you can enjoy a hot bath after dinner. For those who drives, it is free parking. Only downside the mattress is very soft and the pillow is kinda shallow.

GOOD ☆The rooms are not large, but they are clean and functional. The laundromat is a drum type, so there is no need to refill the dryer. Breakfast (service) is quite high quality.I regretted passing it up on the first day of my stay. Close to the bus center Convenience stores nearby (F-mart and Seijo-Ishii in the bus center) Vending machines in the hotel are not expensive. Good response from the front...
The hotel is located close to Karatsu JR Station and provides a simple free breakfast, which is very cost-effective.
I requested a room with a good view and got a very nice room on the 9th floor. Breakfast was just bread and rice balls, but it was delicious. It was a convenient location, close to the station, bus center, and convenience store.
It was just so so. I booked a non-smoking room but was given a smoking room. And the window looked out to the cemetery. No explanation was given.
I used the hotel as lodging during a fishing trip by car, but it was also a great location for exploring the town of Karatsu, so I enjoyed it.
The hotel is located west of the city hall. It is a little far from the center of town, so it is quiet and nice. We walked to the castle, and it is just the right distance and in a good location.

This is a gem. The hotel is right at the end of the rainbow pine forest. With a few steps, you can see Maizuru Castle. The city of Karatsu is not very large. We can easily walk to the castle or dining places. The onsen is not very large. But the place has been kept in its traditional Japanese style. Very cosy and classic. The dinner is served in the room. It is elegant and delicious. I find that this...
One of the most beautiful places we've stayed in Japan with a lovely garden, exquisite food, and a great collection of local ceramics. We were lucky enough to meet the owner and he very kindly shared his knowledge of local potters and places to visit. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Staying at Yōyōkaku felt less like a hotel and more like being welcomed into a beautiful, historic home. Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect! The Japanese garden is stunning and peaceful, and it was such a treat to meet the owner. He is a very kind man who stays right there on the property, which adds such a personal and authentic touch to the experience. A very special thank you to...
This was an beautifully maintained, tranquil ryokan with very attentive staff who take great pride in the inn's 100 year old heritage and great breakfast. We almost missed the entrance to the inn after parking - the staff spotted us and ushered us in. Proprietress in a kimono saw me carrying a bag of trash during check in and promptly took it away for me. Another lady carried our bags. Proprietress...
This is a beautiful ryokan with fabulous rooms and a lovely garden. The staff are, without exception, absolutely wonderful. The food is excellent too. It’s a leisurely short walk to both the beach and the castle and only a 25 minute stroll or 6 minute taxi ride to Karatsu station. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough
very well maintained facilities although it's over 100 years old. Attentive service and overall experience was above expectations

Great spot if you’re looking to unwind in tranquillity. We took the room with bath in sea view. The view was no doubt fantastic but not a great idea in winter as the shower is also in open air. The bath is facing the beach so bath with cautious (tested and yes, passerby can see ya if you stand up to move from the tub). Since it’s open air, the shower curtain tends to get into your face when the wind...
The hotel is exquisitely designed with a high-class ambiance, very clean and comfortable. The room facing the sea offers a beautiful view, and the bathroom also overlooks the ocean. I visited in late December, when it was very cold and windy, so soaking in the hot spring felt wonderful. The breakfast was exceptional both in taste and presentation, truly gourmet.
I went on a trip with friends, and the beach was right in front of the accommodation, and it was really fun because there was a pool and a large bath. However, we didn't make a dinner reservation in advance, so there were no restaurants nearby, so we had a bit of a hard time finding dinner.
The service was excellent, and any inquiries were addressed promptly. The ocean view was stunning. The first floor was connected to the breakfast, dinner, and smoking rooms. A very comfortable and quiet place to stay.
This was my family's second visit after 6 years ago, and it was just as good. In particular, the free 45-minute use of the outdoor hot spring with a sea view was the best in terms of satisfaction and healing.
The service is good. Sauna in private and public area also stunning. Shall go again if have chance.

Decent room size for Japan. Mattress was comfortable. Lots of eateries just downstairs. Would be good if there were more power sockets in the room though
All in all is good in the area for this price range. One shower in the 8 beds dorm could be too little if most needs a shower in the morning before checking out by 10 am
Escaping the high hotel prices in Fukuoka on a Saturday, I took the subway for an hour and a half to Karatsu and chose this hostel. The experience was great. It's in a small city, just a five-minute walk from JR Karatsu Station. The front desk had instruction manuals, and the staff's English was fine. The check-in iPad supported Chinese. The room had two separate restrooms and one shower room. The...
The hotel is in a very convenient location and overall the place is quite clean. Our room did have a noticeable smell when we checked in, but having an air purifier in the room helped manage it. The staff were friendly and pleasant to interact with. Overall, it was a good stay with just a minor issue.
Close to the station and generally very clean. Everyone was very considerate. The black tea at breakfast downstairs was particularly delicious; it had a unique aroma. There are many great restaurants nearby, and everyone was very welcoming. Karatsu was my favorite part of this trip.
The room was clean, hygienic, and comfortable. The ambiance was elegant, warm, and romantic. It's conveniently located very close to the train station.

On the second day of my Kyushu trip on a weekday in late February, I stayed overnight after playing a round at Karatsu Golf Club. I was able to park my rental car next to the carp pond at the entrance. I checked in without waiting at 4 PM, decided on dinner time, and the landlady escorted me to my room. I immediately went to the large public bath. She said it was okay to change towels as many times...
My husband and I stayed overnight at a hot spring inn in Yobuko, Karatsu City. Dinner was served in our room and included the famous Yobuko squid, as well as a selection of fresh Yobuko seafood dishes. Everything was delicious and we were very satisfied. The sweetness and firmness of the squid was particularly exceptional. The hot spring also had a calming atmosphere, allowing us to relax and soothe...
This hotel's high reviews are certainly understandable. Everything, from pickles to desserts, squid shumai, and more, is homemade by the chef. Everything was absolutely delicious! It's been a while since I've had such a satisfying hotel meal. Lately, I've found hotels where the rooms are clean but the food is disappointing, even though the prices are high, so I was incredibly impressed. I can see why...
It was great. The ocean was close by, and the public bath was nice. I had a luxurious time. However, it would have been nice if the price had been a little more reasonable.
This is a Japanese-style hotel with OK service. The hot spring is very good. The downside is that we ate dinner in the room, and the smell of roast beef lingered for a long time, which didn't feel good.
Staying in a hot spring hotel with two meals, there is a language barrier, but the waiters are very kind and sincere and keep smiling. The dinner is squid sashimi and tempura, which are very delicious and there are a lot of them. The breakfast is Japanese style, both are very good. eat. Worth recommending.

We visited Karatsu in early spring. We stayed in the Bamboo Room on the first floor, facing the sandy beach of Nishinohama. Quiet and chill place to stay with if you need a very relaxed break. Closed to the seashore and castle which is about just 5 mins walk. Great food with careful and hearty preparation, both dinner and breakfast, impressive to eat in a 2nd floor room with sea view and super spacious. Small hot bath but super clean and ordered, very few visitors so I enjoy it alone. Highly recommended.
The food and service from the staff were just as wonderful as the reviews said. We went to celebrate my parents' birthday, and my mother was very happy. Thank you very much.
A Great Experience, Warm Memories The space was quiet and beautiful. Every detail was so clean that it felt like every detail had been meticulously maintained. The night sea view from my room was breathtaking. The staff's warm hospitality and the local cuisine were truly fresh and delicious. It was a truly wonderful experience.
The sea spread out before our eyes, and we were able to spend a peaceful time.
The staff at the inn were very polite and I had a very comfortable stay. The food was also very satisfying!

There is an elevator, but it feels a little cold in the winter. The main dishes were squid and steamed raw abalone. Parking is free across the street, and only cash is accepted.
There is a famous sushi restaurant in the town near Karatsu Castle that requires reservations.
Very good sashimi and meals. Very friendly ryokan. Will highly recommend to friends.
We stayed at this ryokan in early November 2021, when the fourth wave of COVID 19 was rapidly subsiding. It was pouring when we arrived at the ryokan in Karatsu, close to the castle and facing the beach. I had thought that it was a restaurant offering lodging, but I understand that it was the other way around. In any event, a lady came out, showed us the car park, and brought us umbrellas. We went...

Facilities: Average, slightly outdated Cleanliness: Needs further improvement Environment: Riverside room, great night view Service: Although there was a language barrier, the staff were warm and friendly. Very quiet; a good night's sleep is more important than anything else for travelers.
Facilities: The facilities are complete and clean. The soundproofing is only so-so. Hygiene: Clean and hygienic, no issues. Environment: Located by the sea, the view and environment are very nice. Service: The service is warm and attentive.
We were upgraded to a room with a view of Karatsu Castle from the window. The staff were very helpful and checked public transport information for us. Nijinomiyahara in Karatsu Bay is less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
The Japanese-style rooms aren't ideal for older people; you have to change shoes before entering the hotel and there's a seating arrangement in the room. The view is absolutely stunning; you can enjoy views of Karatsu Castle from the room, especially the beautiful night view. The service is also very good; they can communicate in English.
I was worried about checking in because I arrived at 12 noon, but I was pleasantly surprised. The guesthouse owner was very friendly and welcoming, showing me around and explaining things. I was satisfied with the room, and the guesthouse was in a great location.
Facing the sea, it's convenient to go anywhere. You can walk to Karatsu Castle, Seaside Pine Field, and the showerheads of Yuri and Makachin. It's a recommended accommodation for the Yuri pilgrimage route.

It is my second time to this hotel. Very nice experience! Will comeback again if having chance.
I want to come again~ It might be a bit cold for Koreans.. It felt like there was a shower room, toilet, and sink on the veranda It was really cold in the morning, but thankfully there was a bidet It didn't feel old or worn out. It was well-maintained and clean. The hot spring water wasn't hot, so I was able to enjoy it just fine The service was good, but I'm not good at speaking Japanese or English...
Very considerate and caring services Dinner was exceptionally nice. A very nice outlook. It would have been a good sleep if the pillows were softer and not so high.
The courtyard was nice, but not great considering the price
Traditional style japanese onsen hotel, staff with great hospitality and service could not be bad. We did not dine in at the hotel and thus no comment on catering. There are plenty of restaurant choices in town if not dine at the hotel. Walking distance to city centre and with a supermarket right opposite on the road, convenient location

This accommodation is in a prime location, right on the oceanfront. While the overall facilities are somewhat dated, they're relatively clean and there were no major inconveniences. This is a place I'd definitely visit during the summer season.
Although it's unmanned, the service isn't particularly inconvenient. I also appreciate the free use of the kitchen and washing machine. And I can hear the waves while I sleep.
Book when the room price is lower, the price/performance ratio is super high. The store is directly facing the seaside, with beautiful sea views, and is also close to the historical windbreak pine forest of Niji no Matsubara. The interior decoration is simple and tidy. It's about a 10-minute walk from the station, but you can also walk to Karatsu Castle and the coast, so it's recommended for...
The location is not bad, but it would be helpful if you could let us know in advance whether there is a parking lot. The bed was slightly tilted to the right. I'm not sure if it was because it was on the third floor, but the water pressure in the shower was quite low, which was disappointing.
The price is cheap but the rooms are small.
It was already past 10pm when we arrived at the hotel, and we didn't get to experience the big bath. There was no one at the front desk when we arrived, and we called for a long time before an old man came out, and we finally completed the formalities. The room was average, and the mattress was uncomfortable to sleep on, but the price was cheap, so we stayed there for one night and left.
The rooms were full during the cherry blossom season and there was only this hotel. I booked one night. It was similar to the reviews on ***********. A nice hotel with a nice location close to Karatsu Castle!
It was a rather peculiar hotel. Only one middle-aged woman sat at the front desk, and the lobby was filled with various "antiques" but very quiet. Opposite the lobby was a pavilion with a clock that automatically chimed on a fixed time. Overall, it was alright, considering the price.
It seems to be run by a family, and the location is good, far from the train station but close to Karatsu Castle. Those who arrived early could check in directly. This situation is relatively rare in Japan, which is good.
The hostel facilities are relatively retro, and the price is reasonable. It is close to the tourist attractions. You can see Karatsu Castle across the river in front of the door. There is a funny Taiko clock across the street, and a little man comes out to beat the Taiko at every hour. It doesn't knock until late at night.
I liked the hotel atmosphere because it gave off an old Japanese vibe. The person checking in was friendly and nice.
It's a small hotel and it's a little inferior to the major chain hotels, but it's worth the price and it's okay. A bit far from the city center. The parking lot is narrow and the number of cars is small. I could see Karatsu Castle from the window of my room, but it was farther and smaller than I expected because it was quite far away.
