Facilities: The hotel is located by the sea with an expansive view. Cleanliness: Clean and tidy. Dinner: We enjoyed the Bungo beef and seasonal fish kaiseki - Sora in our room, accompanied by some wine we brought ourselves. After dinner, we went for a hot spring bath; private onsens can be reserved in advance. Bonus: The hotel also offers 'onsen sharing' with the nearby Mimatsu Ooetei, which was a...
I chose this seaside hotel to enjoy the sunrise and sunset while soaking in the hot spring. The two meals included were decent, and the seafood was fresh. The mentaiko for breakfast was a local specialty. The room was spacious, with a separate wet and dry area, and the balcony was fantastic – facing the ocean, perfect for drying clothes... haha. I didn't book a private onsen because it wasn't crowded...
About a 15-minute walk east from JR Beppu Station. It's right by the seawall, so you can enjoy the ocean view, blue skies, and white clouds. The Japanese breakfast was excellent. This is a Japanese-style onsen ryokan, so rooms don't have showers, but there are separate public baths for men and women on the 6th floor, as well as private, chargeable baths. There's a famous tempura restaurant about a...
This traditional Japanese onsen hotel is conveniently located by the sea, about a 12-minute walk from Beppu Station, with a bus stop ('Beppu Tower Stop') right nearby. We booked a room with a private hot spring bath and a two-meal plan (dinner and breakfast). Being able to enjoy the sea view while soaking in the onsen was wonderful. The hotel wasn't as old as I had imagined, and the room was surprisingly...
Service: The staff's attitude was so-so, but the private onsen I booked was very clean and nice. Hygiene: There were some stains on the tatami, and you have to make your own bed. When two tatami mats are laid together, there's always a gap between them. Facilities: The hotel is quite old. Although I mentally prepared myself, it was still a bit more run-down than expected. Plus, it's actually quite...
Transportation: Very convenient. It's only a 10-minute walk to JR Beppu Station. For my bus trip to Fukuoka, the bus stop (right outside Starbucks) was just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Facilities: This is a resort-style hotel, and I was lucky enough to snag a sea-view room where the first rays of morning sun streamed directly in. The room was very spacious, more than enough for two people; it...

The service is very good, you can book a private bath, the room is very large and clean in Japanese style
This hotel offers hot spring baths. Located in the heart of Beppu Onsen.
The overall room and facilities are relatively old. But very clean. The customer service attitude is very good. The beef dinner is so rich that you can’t finish it all.
The facilities are old, the waiter's attitude is very good, but you have to add a 1050 yen entrance fee
Comfortable, clean rooms. Friendly service, location within short walking distance to Beppu central area.
Very comfort with ryokan style with king bed , very clean and easy to walk to main street

Great value for money, and the location in the city center is perfect if you're just looking for a place to sleep. The ryokan itself was spacious, and the room and bath were also very nice.
Great value for money, and it's not far from both the bus station and JR station.
Good location Staff can speck English
Nogami Honkan has a convenient location—an easy walk downhill from Beppu Station and surrounded by plenty of food options. It’s also within walking distance to Beppu Tower, where you can enjoy nice views of the city and the sea. We went during the day, but I imagine the night view would be beautiful too. Staying here gave us a feel of the quieter, local side of Beppu. While the town itself is calm...
It was nice experience of old-fashioned Japanese’s room one night stay.

Close to Beppu attractions, right near the hotel, very convenient.
The hotel has been renovated, and the outdoor hot spring is quite large, fed directly by natural spring water. However, compared to other hot spring hotels in the same price range, there's no welcome drink or all-you-can-drink option, and only iced water is provided after the hot spring bath.
Very convenient locations to the “hells” attractions.
Wow, it was really bad for the price.. It was over 700,000 won per night.. and during my 2 night stay, I couldn't eat the kaiseki meal because it was full.. When I asked if I had to pay for breakfast since my child was 5 years old, they told me several times that it was the same as an adult. I couldn't believe it, so I asked again, and they said, oh, then I don't have to pay.. Other than the location...
The outdoor bath was spacious and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. Parking costs 500 yen, but they offered parking upon check-in, which was convenient.
The transportation is quite convenient. You can get there by walking a few dozen meters uphill from the bus stop. The main entrance is being renovated and a simple 🪜 is built. You can carry your luggage up and down! Several major hells are very close. If you want to go to other places, you can go to the tourist information center to take a bus. It takes no more than ten minutes to walk there. There...

Amazing experience ! I enjoy the room and onsen so much . The room is so big, tidy and cozy, with two private hot baths, one indoor and one outdoor. The onsen resort offers 5 private baths on top of public bath, giving very good privacy and allowing me to enjoy quality time with my fam.
The staff were so friendly and the people were nice!! However, it is difficult to communicate in anything other than Japanese, so if you are not a local, you may not be satisfied. The accommodation is old and worn out, and the hot spring is small and the water is not good compared to other ryokans.
This hot spring hotel has been the highlight of my entire trip. The rooms and buildings are designed with a strong infusion of Japanese culture, immersing guests in an authentic ambience. That’s really splendid view at the room and private hot spring is extremely great too.
Hotel was about 15 mins walk from Beepu station. Hotel style and amenities was very old school japanese. Good breakfast was individually served. Room was huge for 3 persons. Extra bed was a futon which was not comfy. The sea view was amazing and beautiful. Room amenities is typically japanese style. This hotel is amazing - the staff are friendly, the room is big and the view is beautiful. They also provide shuttle bus service which is really helpful. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good so I didn’t have a chance to see the sunrise in the room. I might come back and try the private onsen next time!
Really big hotel by the ocean side. Room was so big that we can prob sleep 10 people in there if we had the futons. This place even got a water dispenser. Bath's view was blocked by safety railing which was a let down but the room made up for it. Recommend.

Nice hotel and good service. The hot springs are the best. Will come again’!
The room was very satisfactory. There is a big problem in Japan. When booking a room, it is stated that only one person can stay (even if it is a double room). If you are not careful, you will have to pay extra💰! Be careful⚠️
I have had two experiences with one night and two meals before, and this time I was able to bring my mother to experience it. But this was my worst experience. I had a wagyu set meal for dinner, but the sashimi was not fresh, and was obviously stored for a long time, and was very dry. The highlight is the Wagyu hotpot, the soup base is water with a slice of kelp. The Wagyu beef was so hard to chew...
Everyone goes to Yufuin for ryokans, right? I like Beppu here. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Since there weren't many people, I used the open-air bath and the private bath a lot. Booked a night for one night, two meals for one person, less than $1000. Dinner and breakfast were very high quality, booking indicated that I am sensitive to fish, therefore some dishes such as fish sashimi changed to beef sashimi, very sincere.

The address on Google Maps was the hot spring location. After wandering back and forth about 50 meters, I finally found it. It wasn't a Japanese-style entrance, but a modern one. Ryokan U had a small rooftop with a mountain and ocean view, but it was opaque, so I couldn't see it while sitting. The open-air bath was so cold that I had to use the light to shower. Beppu ryokan with a great value for money. Offers onsen and Japanese style breakfast and dinner.
It felt more like a business ryokan hotel and I don’t mean it in a bad way. The onsens were very very beautiful, and I absolutely loved my stay in Kunisakisou. At night, there are hot mists surrounding the ryokan and town, which made me understand why Beppu was called the town/onsen of hell. I asked for breakfast at the last minute and it was the best meal I had throughout my whole trip in Beppu. Thank...
Very nice hotel - classic Japanese ryokan, hospitable hosts, several types of wonderful onsen. Wonderful view from the window of the soaring landscape, sea and mountains.

Good location, great onsen. It's a pity we couldn't try breakfast and dinner, there was no such option when booking, and we couldn't order it on the spot. There's a delicious cafe for breakfast nearby. We liked everything!
The room is equipped with an open-air hot spring ♨️, overlooking the Oita city view; the staff (including cats) provide excellent service. The hotel is located on a mountain, which is a little inconvenient, but overall it is worth staying again.
There was an open-air bath in the room, and it was great to be able to use it 24 hours a day.

Love the spacious hotel and its comfortable and zen ambience.

Lovely hidden gem in the Kannawa area of Beppu. It is walking distance to 5 of the 7 hells of Beppu. The ryokan has indoor and outdoor baths as well as private baths that can be reserved. There's also free parking onsite. The only minor complaint is that the breakfast is quite average, but everything else was great.
The staff were friendly, and the food was clean and delicious. I don't speak Japanese well, so I used English, Korean, and gestures, but they understood me well and provided excellent guidance. I had a wonderful trip down memory lane with my mom. ^^ It's close to Kamado Jigoku, so it's easy to find.
Great food, great location, great service, great room. Onsen is outside on the open and there is a shared shower room in the hotel when the Onsen is closed.
The accommodations were nice, the kaiseki was delicious, and the breakfast was also great! I think it would be easier if I could speak a little Japanese! Even if it's just listening! I spent two nights near Beppu Station and one night at Okamotyoya Ryokan. It is a bit of a distance from Beppu Station. While the facilities are a bit dated, it seems to be well-maintained, and the service is even friendlier compared to the hot spring hotels near Beppu Station (which are also very friendly).
This is the perfect inn where you can fully enjoy Myoban Onsen. It is a bit of a walk to get to the inn and the hot spring facilities, but there is a roof and the atmosphere is nice so it's not a problem. The staff were also polite and pleasant to deal with. The room I stayed in was probably the cheapest one, but I'm really glad I stayed at this inn. The large public bath is open from 7am to...
The hotel took the initiative to take the luggage, communicated in English, and the food was good. The most important thing is that the hot spring ♨️ pool is large and it is convenient for self-driving and taking photos.
There is an open-air bath on the first floor and an indoor bath on the second floor, both of which were spacious and comfortable. The hotel has two private hot springs: a milky sulfur spring and a clear simple spring. The sulfur spring in particular had a pleasant hydrogen sulfide scent and was just the right temperature for relaxation. The sulfur spring apparently has a peeling effect, gently removing...
Pretty good ryokan near Beppu where you can try onsen steamed food for dinner. The onsen is spacious and has a strong egg smell which takes a few weeks to wash out of your clothing. There are relatively few guests in the ryokan (more seem to visit for day use of the onsen). The staff are mainly from the nearby universities and can speak english well.

The stylish interior made for a very comfortable stay. The location in Beppu was also very convenient for finding dinner spots. However, I did notice some dust and the window screens were dirty. Despite that, I would still like to stay here again.
The room as a whole was clean and nice. I think it would be good for family trips with small children. However, the bathroom isn't very spacious, so it might get crowded. There were plenty of towels and other amenities provided, which was great. The location is also good as it's in the city center.
The room was spotless. Check-in and check-out were both seamless.
The room was excellent, clean, spacious, and beautiful. It was conveniently located with a supermarket nearby.
The place I located 10 minute walk from Beppu station. The checkin is done through a tablet on the reception. Unmanned. Make sure you have the entrance pin code. Not the easiest of checkins. The walls in the bathroom are dusty, the AC too. The bathroom is not heated, so very cold. We had the AC on max, still very cold, there was a cold draft from one of the light switches. The beds are comfy and clean
The hotel is new and the rooms are large, perfect for families. Everything is very clean and modern, so we were very satisfied. The only downside is that there's no elevator, so you have to carry your luggage yourself. There's a big supermarket nearby, and if you're driving, you can park in the paid parking lot right outside the supermarket, which has reasonable rates.
