Hotel Nagisa in Beppu

This is a business and tourist hotel located in the same district as Beppu Tower.

I had a good impression of all the staff I interacted with. Unlike a typical resort hotel, the staff were polite and attentive, maintaining a comfortable distance while still acting like relatives in a good way.

The building is old, but with an auto-lock and card key system and handmade-style decorations, I could see the effort put into every aspect, and it made me want to support them.

My room was Western-style, but there was some noise from next door, so if you're an early sleeper or sensitive to noise, earplugs would be helpful for a good night's sleep.

The in-room TV was large and wall-mounted (around 30-40 inches?), which I personally appreciated.

There is a large hot spring bath on the first floor, and since I stayed on a weekday, it was almost entirely private. The water temperature was just right on the day I stayed, allowing me to relax and unwind.

There is also a family bath available for advance reservations, so families with children can feel at ease there.

One of the shower heads on the men's side was broken, so I think it would be a good idea to replace it.

If you're accessing by car, we recommend simulating which route you'll take in advance. Not just here, but in the Beppu area in general, roads other than the main roads are narrow and there are many one-way streets.

It seems like it might be difficult to park multiple large vehicles, so be sure to check in advance.

This time I stayed overnight at short notice, and as a single male, I was very satisfied, considering it was a "business hotel with hot spring access."

I'll come again sometime.

good hotel for living....

ONSEN review: visited the onsen during the onsen festival and I can't find the entrance fee if you are not a guest. Shampoos provided, you need to bring your own towel. Front staff was very friendly, onsen is located at the ground floor. The changing room is separated from the bath so you can't see your stuff while bathing, no lockers. There are three places to wash up with shower heads, stools and mirrors. The was big size and was half the room size. In the corner they had made a small area with rocks and plants. There are a few small windows on one side so there is not much natural light coming. Gensen kakenagashi.

The owners are an old, sweet couple with kind hearts. A must-visit to have an authentic experience with Japan food,natural onsen and beautiful ocean view 🇯🇵❤️

The hotel is a bit out of date and it’s not the cleanest but, for that price it’s fair enough! It’s really well located 10min distance from the train station. The onsen is open 24/7 which is pretty cool. Staff doesn’t speak English, but they are nice and friendly, japanese style :)
