Hostel 689CapsuleHotel&Coffee in Almaty

My partner was upset because his $200 shoes and mine were ruined by paint. The people working there doesn't care ur things, shoes aren't allowed and asked to keep outside of the room and they were doing painting suddenly .. they should have moved elsewhere or put cover but didn't bother or we couldn't have kept in the room itself.

And also understandable , they doing renovation/painting.. they shouldn't do it until very late at night till 11pm. Although is hostel, guests also would like to have a nice rest.

I was also waken by people checking in at 3am with loud banging noise for a long time due to hostel door locked and receptionist not aware .

In terms of other thing. Doubleroom Room is very basic and old ,bathroom is badly designed and is in basement .common area is definitely nicer.

Although location is good , there are better alternative option in the city which we stayed in the same budget range or even cheaper.

Difficult to find entrance. The address given is useless. Property entrance is on a different road (Zheltok'san koshesi). If using Yandex Taxi or GPS, asiest is to set destination as a Lanzhou Noodles, which is next door. It's in a basement and nothing to do with coffee. Photo below shows entrance from the road given in the address.

Service is very poor except for Madina who has the right attitude. One staff was very unhelpful, another bashed at the door at 11:55, when checkout was 12 noon.

This place has free cancellation up to 2 pm on day of arrival and like you to cancel and pay direct. Later I found that I lost my 10% discount.

Used towels were left in the shared bathroom for many days.
