Great hostel in a very quiet location! As soon as you step off the property you can see the mountains that surround Almaty. Friendly staff and property was clean! Located near some local grocery store in a fantastic location! Check this place out.

Don’t be fooled by the photos. This place is a dump. When I checked in the receptionist just stared at me. Receptionist is grumpy. Dirty room, old beds, bad location, no lighting. I did not feel safe staying here. I booked for two nights and left after one.

Kind and helpful staff, and they speak English. Clean, good and big kitchen. Overall clean. Quiet and safe location. Walking distance to main attraction in central area. Price is also convenient.

I had wonderful experience. I really recommend this place. I also met other tourists from Egypt, Nigeria, Russia and Kazakhstan. They also told me about their best experience here. The hosts were nice, helpful and kind. Thanks for making my stay awesome here.

I spent a couple of nights there in November, middle of the winter in Almaty, pouring rain all day and the house really felt like a hug, warm, comfortable, well kept, cosy, clean. A lovely woman runs the place, very helpful and welcoming. The beds and bed linen are of excellent quality unlike most hostels in Central Asia. The house is so well heated, I forgot about the miserable weather the second I walked in. Great location, you can easily walk to the city centre and yet you're in a hoise, away from the soviet blocks. Would definitely stay again.

The exterior of the hostel looks nice and there is secure gate and ample parking for motorbikes, bicycles and cars. The location is also generally pleasant and is only 15 minutes walk from the cathedral and monument park. The kitchen was also comfortably sized and clean.

Honestly though. This is the most depressing hostel I've ever been too in my life. The curtains in the lobby are always closed; why? and the lights are off, so it is dark and dingy inside. No music plays and the entire place remains permanently soundless. There is 1 shower each for women and men. My bed mattress was completely destroyed and bowed like a sinking ship. The dorm was also very compact and just as depressing as the rest of the hostel. On the last day there was no toilet paper because they were waiting for the delivery (but there is a shop 5 minutes around the corner?). Laundry was also only available with a full-days (or sometimes a day in advance) notice. But the most important thing for tourists is that this is not a tourist hostel. It is populated primarily by 40 plus year-old workers who live there long-term. Though everything was satisfactory, it is extremely downheartening with no positive vibes at all.

I've never slept in a shared room before and couldn't have chosen a better place! The hostel itself is extremely clean (spotless! I was amazed!), safe and comfy. I loved the homely atmosphere and staff - Olga was exceptionally helpful and friendly :)
