Reviews
The breakfast was also decent.
For the reasonable price, the hotel is okay.
Firstly, the hotel is truly "tired." The furniture is old, the towels are stiff, and the pillows are uncomfortable. There was also an intermittent sewage smell. I certainly did not witness the "super renovation" that was often mentioned in other reviews.
Secondly, the hotel's service desperately needs not just improvement, but a complete reorganization. During our 15-night stay, the bed linen was NEVER changed, despite staff nodding in agreement when asked – they simply re-made the old sheets. The floor was vacuumed only once, after three separate requests. Towels were replaced only twice, also upon request. Water was delivered somewhat inconsistently; we received two 0.5-liter bottles roughly every 2-3 days, despite being a party of three.
Furthermore, there's significant noise from the street, and the lower-floor balconies open directly onto the promenade, offering absolutely no privacy – making it impossible to, for example, sit out in a towel and enjoy a snack. Finally, while not the hotel's fault, loud music from the beachfront continued until 1 AM, making it impossible to sleep.
A major issue was the complete lack of communication between the reception staff. If you made a request to one person, the next day a different person would be completely unaware of it. For instance, the female receptionist on the day before our departure kindly allowed us to extend our checkout until 12:00 PM. However, the very next morning, at 11:15 AM, a male receptionist was knocking on our door, insisting that checkout was at 11:00 AM. This was quite stressful.
Upon our arrival, the lift was out of order. We were asked if we needed help with our luggage, which we certainly did. However, after waiting for 40 minutes, our bags were still downstairs, and I had to carry them up myself.
However, there were some positive aspects worth noting:
1. The room layout was excellent, especially for families with a teenager. With two balconies, my elder daughter had a semi-separate area, which was great and she loved it.
2. The water pressure in the shower was good, at least on the lower floors.
3. Certain members of staff were genuinely warm and wonderful. We asked if they could boil some eggs for us to take for breakfast, and they did so without any hesitation or charge.
4. The administrator's charming dog Una (or Juna?), completely won over my children.
In conclusion, while the room layout and some individual staff interactions were positive, the overall dated condition and particularly the inconsistent and often poor service significantly detracted from our stay.

Now, a little about the hotel itself. Its location is simply unbeatable, right by the sea, offering stunning views. The soundproofing is exceptional—you won’t hear a thing with the windows closed. The rooms are impeccably clean and equipped with everything you need for a wonderful stay. And the restaurant? The food is absolutely delicious, served by staff who are as friendly as they are professional.
Once again, I highly recommend this place—it truly stands out!
Location was lovely, the next bay over from main Budva which was perfect as it was a little quieter. Restaurants and beaches in this part were a step up as well. We even walked to the old town in Budva, so still accessible, it’s about an hours walks or a 10 minute taxi ride.
Room was amazing, we enjoyed the large room and the balcony which had a wonderful view of the bay and mountains.
We also had an amazing final night eating at the restaurant and trying some Georgian cuisine. Something new to try and we would recommend it highly, one of our best meals in Montenegro.
Thank you to the staff!
The staff: They were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, always going out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of.
The services: The level of service provided was truly outstanding, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
The Hotel Restaurant: The food was fantastic – every dish we tried was delicious and beautifully presented. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the quality and variety of the meals exceeded our expectations.
The Hotel SPA: We enjoyed the Hotel SPA. The facilities were top-notch, providing a perfect space to unwind and relax. The massage services, in particular, were amazing.
The room: Despite the lively atmosphere outside, it was incredibly quiet and peaceful inside the hotel, allowing us to rest and relax without any disturbances.
Another issue is that they said that room service works until 12 noon. I said that I wanted cleaning at 11 o'clock but when I returned to the room in the evening, I saw that it had not been cleaned, in fact they had never even come to the room. And while I am experiencing these problems, I cannot find anyone with authority to talk to in the evening. I only have to deal with a security guard.
As a result, if I had not paid my hotel fee in advance, I would never stay here for more than 1 night. And I will never stay here again and will tell everyone i know not to stay here either.
If you’re looking for a fitness retreat disguised as a hotel, this is your place! Forget elevators—here, you'll get complimentary stair-climbing sessions up to six floors. Who needs a gym, right?
Parking? Oh, that's extra special. You’ll enjoy a scenic daily walk from a paid parking lot next to the Sea Star Hotel (€8/day, only if you're lucky enough to book for four days or more!). An exclusive, premium touch.
The rooms? Authentic vintage Yugoslavian vibe. Our door refused to close, giving that open-air, connected-to-nature feel. And the portable Wi-Fi device? A genius move—8 hours of battery life ensures you focus on the “real” experience without distractions like internet access.
Showers come with a built-in indoor pool feature, as the water beautifully floods the bathroom floor (the drain is more decorative than functional). Cleaning services? You’re in charge! I found 3-4 food wrappers myself, so you get a free mindfulness cleaning session. What a treat!
Television? Who needs it! You're staying in an economic double room—enjoy your four-wall meditation zone. As for the view? Brick walls have never looked so inspiring.
Lighting is kept intentionally dim, perhaps to help you discover your inner self, rather than your reflection in the mirror. Small details like the fridge door randomly opening add a sense of suspense and surprise throughout your stay.
Let’s not forget the five-star guest service. The Turkish staff are wonderfully kind, but the local staff offer a thrilling, emotionally charged experience—raw, real, and straight to the point. Plus, they thoughtfully kept our passports hostage for a day. How else would we have felt truly “checked in”?
All in all, a stay I’ll remember forever (because it’s the last time). Highly recommend for those seeking adventure, unpredictability, and a complete detox from comfort.
