Reviews
The management shows no understanding of basic hospitality standards, and housekeeping is a complete failure.
I expected the property to feel dated and in need of refurbishment. What I did not expect was the shocking lack of cleanliness.
At check-in, my room was dirty. The receptionist apologized and offered another room on a higher floor, presented as an upgrade. Unfortunately, it had the same issue. It was not clean.
Housekeeping was sent again to “rectify” the situation. Without a vacuum cleaner, I am not sure how they intended to clean the carpet properly.
To compensate, the hotel invited us to dinner on behalf of the General Manager.
The following day, I returned from the city to freshen up before heading out again. My room had not been cleaned at all. After already raising a complaint, it is difficult to understand how this could happen.
Once again, I waited for housekeeping to address the issue.
During that time, I spoke to the Manager on Duty, who at least was apologetic. I showed him the bench near the elevator on my floor. I had left daily written notes there, yet it had clearly not been dusted for days.
I never heard from senior management. There was no follow-up and no visible concern.
I understand the hotel is planning a refurbishment. Let me be clear: old furniture is not the problem. Cleanliness and standards are.
As a Platinum member, I expected my loyalty to matter. It made no difference.
If you are planning a trip to Casablanca, choose your hotel carefully. Sofitel should not be one of your options.
Service was unprofessional from check-in, breakfast quality and hygiene were poor, and even simple orders took far too long.
Most seriously, personal belongings were taken from my room, and the hotel failed to conduct any proper investigation or provide follow-up despite multiple complaints.
Overall, poor management and serious security concerns. I would not recommend this hotel.
The room was smelly, carpets were dirty. Bed sheets had stains. The "Muslim shower" with the WC was placed at the wrong side & was rusty. The telephone in the room was not functioning.
One of the worst hotels I have stayed in.
It needs urgent upgrading!
Clearly not four stars.
Now, the wear and tear is visible.
There are lots of plumbing issues. I changed rooms but still had a leaky sink. The smell from the sewage was backing up through the sink. There was mould on the wall and ceiling. The towels were worn and not white anymore. The down pillows were damp and smelly too.
The carpets were stained and corridors not vacuumed.
Breakfast was good though and the common areas like the reception nice. I used the spa, staff were nice but hygiene wasn't a priority.
The views were lovely and so is the location. It's quite central to restaurants, shops etc. There is good Internet, a smart.TV with a variety of options to watch.
The Japanese restaurant was a 10/10
