The Olive Exclusive All-Suite Hotel in Windhoek

Confirmed staff theft – serious security failure and misleading communication A designer bag (approx. €2,500) was stored in the locked safe in our room (Room 5) at the Olive Grove Guesthouse. On the morning of checkout, while we were at breakfast, our room was accessed and serviced before we had officially checked out. Shortly after leaving, we discovered the bag was missing and contacted the hotel immediately. The case was reported to the police and the Tourist Protection Unit. The outcome is clear: the bag was taken by a member of hotel staff and recovered by the authorities. Key facts: - Room accessed before checkout - Item stored in locked safe - Multiple staff had access - Master key handling was not properly controlled - CCTV system was not operational Equally concerning was the handling by management: - Initial denial of room access - Repeated questioning whether the bag had been in the room at all - No proactive involvement of the police The recovery of the bag was the result of police work. The hotel has since referred to improved security measures. This only highlights that serious procedural failures existed at the time of our stay.
