Hotel Down Town in Kathmandu

What a poor show of a hotel.
When we arrived, there were no staff around. Check-in then took a further 20minutes - we were the only people there. The receptionist was flustered, slow and rude.
A man who seemed to be a manager turned up and told us they had given us a very nice room - it was the room we booked - and if there were any problems with the hot water or anything else, then to let them know straight away. We should have known then that we were in for a problem.
The room was pretty scruffy and not overly clean but that wasn’t the biggest issue.
Unsurprisingly, there was no hot water but by the time we realised on the first night, it was too late so cold showers it was. We reported on our way out the next morning so they had all day to fix it. It wasn’t. We asked if it had been sorted and at that point they came to check. It was still cold water. This checking went on for over an hour until the guy just left. We waited, nothing happened and no one came so I went to reception. They offered to come and check the water. I reminded them I had two children who needed to be showered and to go to bed. Eventually, they offered us the spa to shower in. It was a shower behind a curtain, with public access to the stream and sauna outside. They told us to relax and use the sauna - with two 7-year-olds, I don’t think so! We refused to shower in somewhere that wasn’t private. The worst part was, the manager we had previously spoken to, was stood half naked in his towel about to use the spa instead of sorting out our hot water!!
Even later still, they offered us another room to shower in. Finally, a hot shower so we can get to bed. Lukewarm at best.
The moral of the story, if you want a hot shower on your return from a trek - DO NOT STAY HERE!!
