Perfect stay in Kathmandu.
The hotel is well located at Thamel but the area is quiet.
They have a cozy garden-restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Food is very good. Buffet breakfast is very good as well.
They prepare a very good expressos.
They have clean and comfortable rooms. Hot shower and nice bathroom .Because travelling with a kid they gave us a nicer room with balcony.
Always providing mineral water for guests.
All staff are very friendly, ready to help.

Hotel Encounter is a gem in the bustle of the city. It is 5 minutes from all the food, shopping and nightlife you could want while staying out of the noise and chaos. Rooms are large, clean and charismatic for a very reasonable price. Bikas is amazing and makes you feel right at home; lovely rooftop and balconies too for enjoying city sights and chilling with friends. I have stayed here multiple times and can't say enough good things!

Guys, if you are reading this, please don’t ignore my review , it will save you from a lot of trouble. I called this hotel before going there to confirm if a room was available, and they assured me that it was. I traveled a long distance and reached there at around 11:30 PM, completely exhausted, only to be told that they were fully occupied and had no space for me.
To make things worse, the staff, especially the man at the reception, was extremely rude and unprofessional. No apology, no help, no courtesy at all. This is by far one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with any hotel. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, I strongly suggest avoiding this place. They clearly don’t respect their guests or keep their word.

I was traveling alone as a single woman and felt very save and comfortable in the hotel. I have booked it before and after my trekking tour. The first time I got an upgrade - a room with balcony. Very nice! There is also good breakfast and room service. They even made me a breakfast box to go as I was continuing my trip to the mountains very early. And they made an exception and made me an early breakfast as I was leaving for my flight. Lovely people and place!

Great location. Stayed here a few days for my trip in Nepal.
Great customer service, clean rooms and bed was comfy enough.
Breakfast was basic but hit the spot for a day of being a tourist.

Whats really sticking out is the nice garden restaurant and the breakfasts. Usualy it is served omelette, sausages, yoghurt, fried potatoes and toast. So if you are like me and likes a large breakfast this is this the right place. The rooms are very affordable, perhaps because the hotel happens to be located just outside of Thamel (50 meters?). A have stayed in several of the rooms and the hot water and the air conditioning has allways worked.

Stayed here with a friend and booked 2 rooms.Waited nearly an hour after check-in for our rooms, and when we finally got them, one room the toilet didn't flush, and the other the aircon leaked water all over the floor. They got the toilet fixed quickly, but the aircon was completely broken in my room. I agreed that a fan would be OK, so they brought a fan that the plug didn't work very well and had to wedged at an angle in the socket, needless to say it kept falling out. After about 2 hours of me complaining, they finally brought an extension lead up, which sorted the problem. Outside our room was a balcony with manky old chairs and bags of empty bottles, really not appealing. The manager told us these were good rooms. My aircon continued to leak water into the night and if took them an hour to send someone ro clean if up. I stayed in the room, pictured 1st, and I can assure you it doesn't look like that now, now it's old and tired, marks all over the walls. In its day this would have been a lovely hotel, but it's had its day...

As a solo traveler i really loved this place! I felt safe and welcome. The staff from the hotel made my stay really unforgettable. The breakfast is also delicious and the rooms are as they should be. Everything to have a great time visiting Kathmandu !

I have done a lot of travel and stayed in many hotels and I have to say that my experience at this Hotel has been my favourite place to stay. The restaurant offers a great range of food and again the service there was impeccable.
They were attentive and very welcoming. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in Kathmandu. Thank you for making my stay in Nepal so memorable. In Free breakfast they have two options American breakfast and Indian breakfast both was so good and presentable.
