Blooms Hotel in Dublin

I hadnt been in Blooms in 40 years but it popped up as a budget option when looking for a quick overnight in Dublin recently. Its central location and my previous knowledge of the place prompted me to reserve. But a few small things spoiled my stay somewhat. Firstly I had to prepay a few days before arrival. Secondly, I then had to pay an additional €50 ‘deposit’ on arrival. Not sure what this was for but it proved a pain when checking out. More later. The room was small but clean, plenty of power sockets for the modern traveller. The shower seemed quite cheap. The shower controls were identical to that which I have at home. That seems like it should be a plus, but to me it means very very outdated and not designed for commercial environments. The shower doors were flimsy and small for a large person like me to squeeze through. Bed was comfortable and clean. There was no decaff coffee available at breakfast next morning. Really! In 2026? A jar of Nescafè would have been fine. Back to the security deposit, when leaving I just wanted to drop my keycard and leave but they chased after me about the deposit. I had to come back and re-present my credit card to get it back. It shouldn’t be necessary. Every modern payment system should have the ability to refund the payment without the card being present. Its just bureaucracy gone mad. Why do they need a deposit anyway? Its a budget hotel. It served a purpose. But I wont be going back.

Right in the heart of Temple Bar! A fantastic location, friendly staff and the smoothest elevator ever! This hotel is a little worn but it matches Temple Bar neighborhood well. Safe and mostly comfortable but our second morning none of the outlets worked so we couldn't charge anything or straighten our hair. Based on other reviews mentioning the same problem, we only had one full day in Dublin and didn't want to waste it trying to get the electical fixed. We just put up with it and flew out the next day.

Definitely requires a lot of investment. Rooms very dated, no air con, windows are old and dangerous, bathrooms need a lot of work doing on them.

Our family of four stayed in the Blooms Hotel Dublin. We thought the location was very convenient. It was very walkable to lots of city sights and places to eat and live music nearby. The artwork on the walls was lively and fun. However, it was a very noisy stay. Throughout the night, delivery/trash trucks drove down the street and unloaded and was quite loud. Parking was not on the property but was nearby and was validated. There is an elevator that was convenient for luggage, but mostly we walked up the stairs. We thought our room( #210) to be extremely spacious and well laid out for a family. We had three beds, a twin in a separate nook, and a double and twin in another section. There was a balcony with chairs. Plenty of space for our many pieces of luggage. A hair dryer, electric kettle and toiletries were provided. However, the mattresses were hard and there was no a/c. It was slightly uncomfortable temperature-wise, since there were no breezes. Wifi is free but extremely weak and barely reached our room. The bathroom was also roomy with a big old fashioned tub, pedestal sink and toilet. It would have been nice to have a table or counter inside the bathroom. If you don't mind the night time noise, this was a great room for our family and a very convenient location.
