Mountain View Hotel in La Digue

Stay away of this hotel if you can. Do not get your Seychelles dream holiday get disrupted before it even starts. This hotel is money-oriented, not customer-oriented.

After the booking the hotel, I got a very unpleasant experience. The staff tried to charge me the whole price upfront two weeks prior to our arrival. I contacted the property what is it supposed to mean as such policy does not comply with the booking policy shown in my reservation and instead of any apology, I was provided with false claims, no evidence for such claims and in the end I was accused that "I do not want to stay at their hotel and that's why I do not want to pay the whole price". Ridiculous. At that moment I wished I could cancel the stay free of charge, but unfortunately I could not. Our mood for the whole stay on La Digue was a negatively affected by this experience. Not to mention, that we have received the CANCELLATION by the property the DAY before of our arrival. So I had to spend extra time clarifying what does it mean just to find out that the booking is still valid. Horrendous experience.

Also, please do not fall for their bike rental service. Those craps they charge you 150 SCR are not worth it. They barely ride. I don't care if the bicycles are provided by a third party, you as hotel should make sure that the customer's experience is as best as possible. But this is not the case. Instead, despite providing the complaint for the bicycle and describing the parts malfunctioning, the same bicycle is rented the next day to the next customer in line with no visible upgrade. For such crap they will demand the full-day price of 150 SCR and they will not stand behind your back and will not negotiate any discount despite you returned the bicycle after 3 hours of using it. If you look up my reviews here on Google you will find my review of a great bicycle rental on La Digue. If you contact them, they are also able to set up a free shuttle for you from the hotel to their site and their bikes are excellent.

Also we felt the hotel is a hotel for ghosts. With the experience we had I was not surprised. Most of the rooms were not booked and at the breakfast we met people from other 3 rooms at most.

Location is as it is, remote from the center and on the hill so be prepared to push your bike uphill for 300m or so. This was no concern for us.

On the bright side, the room we got was decent and we liked it. Plus, we have appreciated that the staff has organized the shuttle from the port to the hotel for us - the shuttle is a must, you do not want to walk from the port to the hotel with your luggage.

If we come back to La Digue, we will not be coming back to this hotel, it's not worth it.
