Servatur Castillo de Sol in Puerto Rico

Just an average stay. Positives.. * The views if you have a high up sea view balcony...floors 6,7 or 8. * Shop is open every day from 8am till 9pm and really well stocked and cheap *pool bar is great, lovely staff, cheap prices and nice food *Room was really clean with large balcony Negatives.. * rooms are joined with an ajorning door, can hear everything inc the next rooms day plans * no entertainment day or night * no hotel bar or restaurant ..just a small pool bar open till 7pm *do not book here if you have any mobility issues ...its 20min walk to the beach and very high up, 200 steps to the hotel from the shopping centre and main bars * beds are twin beds and dont make a double *no coffee tea water or milk on arrival * no air con * cant get any sunbeds around the pool ..all reserved and very over crowded

We stayed here for 4 nights, 5 days, arriving on boxing day around midday. Our room wasn't ready as check in was from 3pm onwards. Eventually got our room (211) around 3.30pm, no view and over looking the pool bar. The room itself was spacious, clean and comfortable, ideal for a short break. The pool area wasn't for us as had to queue to get sunbed if you wanted the morning sun, the chain was removed at 10am, queues already formed before this, therefore we headed down to the beach. We had drinks and food at the pool bar when we returned from the beach which were reasonably priced and standard pool bar food, staff were friendly at the pool bar. 170 steps down to the commercial centre if using the first set of steps, if you walk around to the 2nd set of steps there are around half the amount less. (turn right out of the hotel gate and go down the road and around the bend for the 2nd set of steps) No shower room or late check out available on our last day, had to change in the toilets before heading to the airport. We used zip transfers which were spot on time, highly recommend if look for transfers. Thought a couple of the reception staff could have been friendlier and lift their head to acknowledge you when you said hello when passing. I think maybe some staff actually live at the hotel, one night an alexa in the next room kept going off all night which sadly kept me awake as was quite loud. Was lovely to see some balconies which had Christmas decorations. We're not entirely sure we would return to the Castillo del Sol but was ok for a short break and room was clean.
