Senator Mar Menor Golf & Spa Resort in Los Alcazares

Absolutely amazing and what was a massive bonus was no rushing for beds plenty of beds for everyone. Cleaning staff were absolutely amazing. Reception staff could do with brushing up on their manners very abrupt . Old guy in bar banged a lot while getting orders ready but was nice. Wouldn’t serve larger as was for all inclusive guests even though I was willing to pay price so had to settle for something else. Smell of damp from reception constantly.

I like the truth clean calm good service

Good hotel and very clean. Perfect for the golf (not my cup of tea) but otherwise for kids it would be good. However there is nothing close so you need a car if you want to explore. Also the motorway is right outside and building work is going on down the road. Neither of these are the hotels fault.. I would stay here again when we visit the area next time.

We are on the last day of our wonderful holiday to Spain, staying for 9 nights at the senator mar menor. It's been brilliant! We are a family of 4 including two children (age 12 and 10). Here are my pros, cons and tips: Pros: *The apartment is huge! We stayed in a 2 bed apartment and it's v spacious. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge, dining area and separate kitchen. *The kitchen is fab, well equipped with large fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, toaster and washing machine! *We stayed self catering and had all the plates, cutlery and equipment needed to cook and eat well every day. *We had lunch in the hotel bar a couple of times. They serve pizzas, burgers, pasta and all was very tasty! Good ice creams and drinks too! *The swimming pool is great and my children (and myself and my husband) loved the water slides! The water in the pool was lovely and warm. *The near-by beaches at Los Alcazares were lovely. Shallow water, very warm, very relaxing! Cons: *The apartment could do with some updating as a few things were broken in ours! (chair covers were shedding white stuff which we found on our clothes and the floor, the bath took ages to fill (as the fill function was broken so we had to fill it with the shower head!), the dish rack cupboard door was broken (my husband fixed it during our stay!), my children's cupboard door was broken, the bathroom lock was broken, the kitchen door handle was broken) *The balcony was lovely with a great view of the pool, but it was a squeeze to fit 4 chairs out there! and it's really only made for two! (but we did manage to all eat outside a couple of times with a bit of a squeeze!) *I had a weird experience one day with the waiters/bar staff in the hotel bar who basically ignored me and only spoke with the Spanish guests. However, I think it was a one off as on all the other days, there were v nice staff behind the bar who were happy to serve me. *The pool table in reception was great for my children! but it often didn't release the white ball (!) and there was no triangle to line the balls up. Tips: *We hired a car and I would recommend that! We used the car most days for day trips out and about. We hired the car from centauro and they were very good. Booking in advance from UK gave us better rates. *There are jellyfish in the water around most of mar menor but they are harmless. At the start of the holiday we were all a bit wary of sharing the sea with the jellyfish, but by the end we didn't care! My children were picking them up, putting them in their fishing nets and playing with them! The fried egg shaped ones really mean you no harm! *The water in the mar menor is lovely and warm, almost hot. It's also more salty than the sea, so you can float about! It's very safe for kids because it's so shallow, and the high salt content makes it very hard to sink! The high salt content is also very healing (so I was told!!) *We went to a few beaches around mar menor. The ones near Alcazares and San Javier

Currently on day 7 of 10 days here and we can’t fault it. 2 adults and 18years and 15 year old. Apartment is huge, fantastic air con and facilities. 2 balconies and 2 bathrooms is great. We have a pool and golf course view which is lovely sitting out at any time of day. Taxis easy to get, quicker and easier to call yourself as reception gets very busy. Delicious pastries available each day from the restaurant. Drinks , ice cream and crisps only available at snack bar. Prices as expected really. If you can’t walk in extreme heat , taxis a must . They are expensive at around €2 euros a minute on some trips! Also sometimes metre is already on 5-6 euros when you get in. Helpful to know some basic Spanish. I read a review that there is a bus outside but I’ve not seen a single bus or anyone waiting so not sure about that. The square has a lot of restaurants but don’t expect any views, all look the same! Prices are good though! Beach is nice but hardly any bars and they all look shabby . I would definitely recommend Senator for a really relaxing holiday but if you have the confidence to hire a car I would as you will get to see so much more.

Just back from this wonderful holiday. The whole family (2 adults & 2 kids) had a wonderful trip. The apartment was very clean, huge, great air con, great wifi and fantastic views of the pool with easy access to it. We were all inclusive and there was great variety of food at all meal times even the 2 kids 7 & almost 3 had plenty of options. We love to walk so the 30min walk to the beach was fine for us but we did take taxis to the busiest area with the bars and restaurants plaza 525 or else you are looking at a 1 hour walk. Taxis were cheap around €10 each way. Radio taxis is across the road from the plaza 525 for a taxi back to the hotel. No matter how busy the hotel pool was we always managed to get at least 2 sun loungers and the slides were great fun for us all. The only down was probably the wait sometimes at reception as it can take quite a while to even order a taxi to the town if there is a queue for checking in or out. A 3rd person at reception to deal with just basic tasks for people already stayining in the hotel would be great and help the very hard working, polite and friendly reception staff. Over all I would give this hotel 5 stars because it met all our expectations and I would recommend it to family and friends as a lovely relaxing stay with great value for money. A big thank you to all the staff at the hotel for a fantastic family holiday.

Apartment was a great size with two bathrooms so perfect for the 4 of us. Only 2 blankets and needed to ask for clean towels twice as the cleaners removed the dirty ones but didn’t replace them, also had to ask for toilet roll. Evening meals weren’t great so we only went to 3 and were all inclusive and never went to lunch. Breakfasts were good with big selection but could do with another coffee machine, most mornings it ran out of milk. Purchased bar lunch twice and 2nd time was a huge disappointment as Caesar salad was drowned sickeningly in the dressing. Burgers and nachos were good but when you go all inclusive you don’t expect to have to buy decent food. Bar could be understaffed a lot of the time so could take a while to be served. Locals seemed to come in to use the pool during the day so impossible to get a seat by the pool. 30min walk to the nearest shop but can hire a car locally which is highly recommended as nothing near!
