The Hideaway Ella in Ella

Be ware of the owner Janaki's variety of fabrications; false information about the room facilities, services, rates and their guest experience. Indeed, she will remarkably swindle you when appropriate, ultimately you will loose. It was a total waste of my time, energy and money. I highly advise all the readers, not to visit this terrible hotel to experience inferior guest services that may potentially exacerbate your anger issues for sure while you are indulge on your leisure & pleasure. The owner dishonestly charged me two packs rate despite I have confirmed, I am a single traveler, looking for a single room. Most shocking part was, she honoured me only two meals (brekkie + dinner) for LKR 15,000 while other guests (2 x visitors) on the same date were extended 3 meals to the same rate. This is a shame though, very cheap act of the owners and showcase of their appalling class of services and intentions for their fellow guests. I came all the way from Australia to visit this scenic region, also I am a dual citizen that owns Sri Lankan citizenship as well. I warn all the international and local travelers, this is not the hotel experience you must explore ever in your life time. This hotel even not deserve a single star, but as per the requirement of the google rating, I have to offer single star reluctantly.

The sleep was very interrupted without proper room heating system and essentially I was extremely disappointed to see plenty cockroaches, spiders, bugs in the room where the guests health & safety has been substantially compromised and jeopardized. Bed linens were very smelly and bath towels were not even in usable conditions. One plus point that owners market this building, since it is located in a beautiful scenic place. Staff was very friendly, I like Kumara who was a dedicated, enthusiastic person who went above my expectation but sadly they were given lack autonomy and resources by the management to treat the guest as per health guidelines and feel them comfortable.

I wonder whether the Sri Lankan Tourist Board allows to function such shoddy hotels (I do not rate this as a hotel though) for promoting the country's sinking tourism industry? especially in Ella town where most recently majority international & local travelers are desperate to visit in order to feel this novel experience in Ella vibes and fascinating tourism. I do not believe neither a local or an overseas guests are deserve to see this horrendous service, instead find a proper rated hotel in Ella town. Please do not misjudged with their fake feedback and also do not try out their sister property called "Hideaway Trails Ella" as well. Ella Gap, Ella Heritage, Kithal Ella Station Resort are fabulous. Try them or else where that fits with your budget and expectations.

Wouldn’t recommend this hotel, full of lies, I paid extra for breakfast on trivago but didn’t get it, the room was filthy full with spiders and cockroaches, and when I took a shower the lights went off at least twice.
