Our experience at Tri Ahangama was a complete disappointment, especially after coming from the exceptional standards of Maya Tangalle. Service was shockingly poor. There was a clear lack of attention, responsiveness, and basic hospitality. For a property that positions itself as a premium stay, this was unacceptable. The food was another major letdown — excessively spicy to the point of being unpleasant, and nowhere near the quality or taste one would expect. It felt careless rather than curated. Hygiene standards were also questionable. Plates were not properly cleaned and had a noticeable bad smell, which is simply unacceptable in any hotel, let alone one of this category. While the rooms were spacious and visually decent, they lacked even the most basic amenities. No toothbrush, no proper in-room phone to contact reception — instead, a mobile phone was provided, which was not reachable after 10 PM. This left us completely stranded with no support when needed. To make matters worse, there is no room service and no in-room dining option, which significantly impacts comfort and convenience. Overall, this stay fell far below expectations. Poor service, substandard food, questionable hygiene, and lack of basic amenities make it difficult to recommend this property to anyone seeking a comfortable or premium experience.

This might be one of my favorite hotels in the world. This was the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. Room was so spacious, lovely and comfortable, with an incredible view. The service was top tier, we were attended to with everything down to the little details. The food was the best culinary experience we’ve had here. (I even asked to learn a dish from the chef who, by the way, is not only talented but also super kind, and was welcomed into the kitchen to learn!!) we took a boat safari with amile & had an awesome, joyous time. The wait staff was incredibly attentive & kind, and I cannot recommend this hotel enough. This is the quiet luxury of our dreams.

Wonderful hotel. Very nice and clean. The tower room was very cozy, and the hotel grounds were large and beautiful, with a swimming pool. The staff was very polite. The breakfasts were delicious. The hotel is off the beaten track, perfect for a few quiet days.

We celebrated our first anniversary here and couldn’t have chosen a better place.
The property is extremely peaceful and relaxing. The hosts went out of their way to arrange an eggless cake for us and provided delicious vegetarian food as per our preferences.
Exceptional hospitality—would definitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting Sri Lanka.

Wow!! What a place! We stayed here for 2 nights to have some chills downtime on our journey around Sri Lanka. This is one of the best places I have ever stayed!! The location is stunning, the whole place is an absolute dream if you want to get away from it all and relax for a while. We stayed in one of the villas with a lake view, which was absolutely gorgeous. The staff are lovely, the onsite restaurant is fab, and really reasonably priced considering this is a high end hotel. I can’t recommend Tri Koggala enough, you should definitely stay here!!

Beautiful property! The pool overlooking the lake is warm and refreshing. Definitely insta worthy. Overall the stay was amazing. Well maintained with great staff. Very quiet compared to the busy streets of Ahangama. We stayed in the water tower and it still had amazing sunset views. The villas looked incredible. Perfect place to get away.

Loved this little bit of paradise. The pool and view is the highlight, very quiet and tranquil, a great place to relax and unwind. Great food, fresh and very reasonable. Quiet remote but taxi or tuk tuk is easy to arrange via the reception. Rooms vary, some have better lake views than others, but very clean and well arranged and a good size. Only negative is that there is no mini-bar so no easy to keep you water and drinks called, although you can always get ice from the bar. Suits couples more than families. Staff are lovely and super helpful. Highly recommend.

We spent the afternoons by or in the amazing pool and then used the hotel as a launch pad to get to the beach in Weligama for surfing, Ahangama, Kabbalana and Thalpe for restaurants, all within 15-20 mins. This property is amazing value vs some of the other places we looked at that are" boutique" in Ahangama.

TRI is a beautiful hotel, and we will absolutely be returning. The staff were consistently fantastic - very approachable and always happy to chat. The food was outstanding.. we could quite easily have eaten there every evening. Rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. A wonderful stay from start to finish
