The common areas are very nice and well-maintained, with stunning views. The restaurant is small but offers very good food. This could be a 5-star property, but the quality of the room, bed, and bathroom needs improvement. Service: Some staff are pleasant, but some are only pleasant if you tip beforehand. The 3-hour catamaran tour, which you can book at reception, is highly recommended.

Fantastic location.  The swimmable beach is 100m to left of the hotel.  Very quiet and peaceful.  Beach has shade  so you are not in the sun 100%. Good staff interaction.  Rooms are big, most have some sea view.   Food is on par for Sri Lanka, primarily local cuisine, a bit pricey for the quality though. Overall, recommended.

Seventeen of us travelling with Flamingo Lanka stayed at Amethyst Resort on 24th and 25th October 2025. A big hotel! We were there out of season. But we were lucky with the weather. We got a big room, but at the end of the building and our 'supposedly' balcony consisted of two chairs on a dirty piece of concrete, behind the beach toilet. Since we stayed for 2 nights, we didn't complain. First they put two towels - we had to ask for the rest. The breakfasts are good, since there are a lot of package tourists...

The location is good, very nice swimming pool, garden and beautiful beach. The staff is very tired and most of the time forgets what they are asked. Everything is very slow, you have to have a lot of patience. If not, that's not too bad.

Ugh Bay is a great place ... from the very first view (spectacular) as they open the gates, to everything else in the 24 hours we were there (too short!). Wonderful place. Super Service all round. The hotel has an executive chef from Galle, who creates incredibly delicious dishes!! Great beach . However, sad to say although they have a lovely pool which they say is 38 meters in length one can swim only 19 meters after that it’s super shallow!! That is the only architectural disaster we encountered.

Just back home after the most relaxing 5 days on the eastern coast at Anantaya. This really was the perfect end to our Sri Lanka holiday. Recently visited this hotel , basically I booked the Passivilla however the GM has graciously transferred us to Marina beach hotel due to the sandy beach facilities . The room sizes were big and the toilets are vey clean .All the staffs are very friendly .we had some lovely time at the beach with beach sports . LSR water sports center operates from here, that's the best place ( probably the only place in Passikudah Beach) to do water sports like jetski, canoeing, banana boat rides etc. Also Mr.Sujith is a very experienced and qualified dive master for all your scuba diving needs.

We didn’t stay at the hotel but we did eat there twice. It was very quiet and we were probably a little early but we were welcomed by the staff. The chef came out and chatted to us on both occasions and cooked us up a tasty meal on both nights. It was also a fraction of the price of the buffet on offer at our hotel.
