Reviews
Checkin was swift and we were welcomed with a welcome drink. Staff were warm and welcoming and explained breakfast and meal options as well as the complimentary Tuktuk service for Jungle Beach..
Rooms are adequate, bright and airy. Bathrooms modern and clean, in fact the bathrooms smelt amazing!
Nice roof top pool, bar and lounge area.
Location is more remote to Unawatuna main area but a pleasant 40-45 minute stroll to Galle for.
Breakfast is made to order with an offering of Continental, English, Indian or Sri Lankan. Good coffee and tea.
On our last day we were leaving early and asked the night before for something to go. This was waiting for us in the morning when we left and was made up of a very reasonable mix of items, juice and water.
Would I stay here again: I sure would. Staff are pleasant and polite and want to do a good job, they come across as sincere and genuine.
Our stay at Agnus Unawatuna turned out to be nothing short of extraordinary. This boutique hotel truly feels like a pearl among Sri Lanka’s accommodations.
The infinity pool offers breathtaking views, making every swim a memorable experience.
The service was phenomenal – warm, attentive, and genuinely caring, which made us feel completely at home.
The food was outstanding, with every dish prepared to perfection.
We were also fortunate to celebrate Valentine’s Day here, and it was unforgettable: live music set the mood beautifully, while the special Valentine’s dinner created an atmosphere of romance and joy.
Agnus Unawatuna is not just a place to stay – it’s an experience that combines luxury, heartfelt hospitality, and unforgettable moments. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a truly special getaway in Sri Lanka.

We’ve truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel in Rumassala. Our room was spotless, spacious, beautifully decorated and offered a stunning view over the Indian Ocean. Especially from the rooftop with the pool, the view is absolutely breathtaking – it’s one of those places where you can just sit and watch the ocean for hours.
The shower takes a bit of getting used to since it’s powered by a geyser, not a boiler. The water stays hot for about 5–10 minutes, then cools down a little. If you switch it off and wait a few minutes, it heats up again – once you know how it works, it’s perfectly fine.
The food is excellent, with a great mix of local and international dishes. The restaurant staff are warm, attentive and very welcoming. I’d like to give a special mention to the restaurant supervisor and the hotel manager – both incredibly kind and friendly people who made us feel at home.
A few small suggestions:
• Adding pancakes or waffles to the breakfast menu would make it even better (perhaps instead of the dry crackers in the continental breakfast).
• The outer door doesn’t close properly and rattles when it’s windy.
• The light under the TV is very bright at night (I simply unplugged it – easy fix).
• The Wi-Fi code works like a limited data bundle. You can get a new one for free at reception, but it would be much easier if guests received a password without data limits.
These are really minor things though – overall, this hotel is a wonderful place to stay. We’ve spent five nights here so far and still have two more to enjoy. Highly recommended for anyone visiting this beautiful part of Sri Lanka!
Disliked · Restaurant menu for dinner a bit expensive so we went to other places for dinner.
There is a beautiful swimming pool with a view. It is perfect for a secluded, quiet holiday. A tuk tuk takes you to the nearest beach. But you still have to walk a bit. The beach is wave-free, you can swim.
The restaurant is priced above average, but it is delicious and well-served
The tuk tuk drivers try to increase the price because the hotel is on a mountain.
