Araliya Beach Resort & Spa Unawatuna- Where You Meet the Sea All Year, Unawatuna1 / 10

Unawatuna, Araliya Beach Resort & Spa, Yaddehimulla Rd, 80600 Unavatuna, Yuzhnaya provintsiya, Shri-Lanka 🧭 Map
It was alright. The location was good.
We absolutely loved the Araliya Hotel. It's a great hotel with a fantastic beach, sand, and sea. They have excellent sun loungers exclusively for guests, and the beachfront area is guarded, so you don't have to worry about outsiders taking them. The beach bar/restaurant is superb, with excellent service. They always have cold beer, delicious cocktails, fresh fruit, and fish. Every day, they'd bring...
It’s nice beach side with healthy climate surrounding
Very good location for a holiday and relaxing, Aslam in the restaurant was very helpful with great service. All staff members including the security guards were very friendly and helpful, very safe inside the hotel
Didn't get a chance to visit the beach, but the room was excellent.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by wonderfully friendly staff at the reception desk, and our positive impression continued when we saw our room. It was incredibly spacious and spotlessly clean and a perfect space to relax in. Unfortunately, our enthusiasm dipped when we looked out the window. We had eagerly anticipated the sea view we booked, but found ourselves on the first floor looking...

Located a bit away from beach and restaurants, no direct access to beach/sea, rocky cliff view with two swimming pools which are well designed and maintained. Breakfast and dinner buffets are at high standard, rooms are stylish and tidy.
Absolutely stunning stay. Very clean, beautiful and spacious rooms, lovely setting, pools are great, friendly and helpful stay. Short walk to the town with plenty of shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay again.
This was our final hotel in Sri Lanka. We loved the accommodations: for a family of two adults and two children, we booked a suite (it's two-story, with windows only on the roof—a dormer—and in the bathrooms.) The hotel could use some cosmetic renovations, but that didn't spoil our experience. The staff was fantastic! Especially the girl at reception and everyone else in the restaurant. The hotel has...
We really liked the hotel. It's located away from the noisy street, in a picturesque spot. Our room had an ocean view, which was a major plus. The staff was very friendly. The breakfasts were delicious. There's a café called Lemongrass near the hotel, where we almost always had dinner. The portions are huge, and the prices are reasonable. When the hotel advertised an evening buffet, we dined there...
Very clean rooms and friendly staffs. Their seafood platter was awesome. And good breakfast with lots of of varieties.
The hotel is amazing! There is a swimming pool with unparalleled sunset views, and hermit crab children can be seen everywhere. The service staff are very nice, and their smiling faces at all times make people feel more friendly. The hotel rooms are spacious and clean beyond expectations, and the elderly and children in the family are infinitely satisfied!

I stayed here for four days in January and could not fault it. The food was lovely, and the staff couldn’t do enough for me. They chatted to me as if they’d known me for years and were always smiling and friendly. My room was also amazing! I was given a free upgrade much to my surprise, and the room was clean, spacious and the decor lovely. The bed was very comfy and so high I had a box to step...
A very nice hotel with a great design.
The hotel is amazing! The room is big and tidy, the air conditioner is strong and the beds are very comfortable. Without prior requests, to our surprise, one more bed is arranged for the 3 of us. The manager is super helpful and friendly, he recommended us a lot of nearby attractions. The location is fangastic. It was such a such a nice stay and I will definitely recommend this hotel!
Beautiful grounds, very attentive staff, ready to help and accommodate. However, the furniture in the rooms is tired and the cleaning in the common areas is lacking. Otherwise, it's a great hotel.
Super nice Hotel. Amazing friendly and helpful staff. Amazing location and view. I can recommend this place to anyone traveling to the south of Sri Lanka
This was my second time at The Owl and the Pussycat and it was even better this year than last. The standard of accommodation, the food and drinks were all we could have wanted. The staff were very friendly and helpful at oll times. And the hotel's eccentric decor works brilliantly.. The location is wonderful because you can see only palm trees, the ocean and small headlands in either direction. The...

We spent three nights at this gorgeous property in a stunning location on the beach. It is close to surf beaches and Galle fort. This is a clean, modern building with a luxurious feel and very attentive, friendly staff. The owner has created a unique experience for guests with a “home from home”, ambiance. Lovely calming and professionally run small boutique hotel. Amazing views yet great location close to Galle and the south coast. Plenty of tuk tuk's along teh main road so you dont wait long (tip get pick me even to verify the price it should be). The food is amazing and the breakfast i will remember for some time. Carefully thought out and all cooked to order, great juices too. Bedrooms very comfortable...

We enjoyed our stay , the view from our room was wonderful. the room was clean and comfortable, good style for a beach resort. The experience could not have been any more perfect. The hotel is located in a beautiful natural beach setting surrounded by palm trees. Rooms are fabulous and the place is perfectly maintained. Excellent food, too. There's a beach, but sea too choppy to swim, and behind, a main road. Short rides to Unawatanu or to Thalpe itself if you aren't happy to just relax in a great place.
We came as a multigenerational group (12-82 in age) and were so well looked after by the team. The layout of the house works really well. The rooms are spacious but simple. This is a great destination, 10 minutes from the surf beaches, close to golf and 25 minutes to Galle. It is worth pointing out the sea by the house is very rough and not suitable for swimming, the swimming pool is really lovely...
We have just returned from an incredible 6-night stay at Frangipani Tree and could not recommend it highly enough. We had originally booked only 3 nights, but we loved it so much that we extended our stay! From the moment we arrived—very late in the evening—the staff greeted us warmly and made us feel instantly welcome. No matter the hour, they were ready to prepare a delicious meal. The location...
We had a fabulous holiday at this beautiful hotel. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We were given a room upgrade to an ocean view
A small boutique hotel right on the beach in Talpe ( a shortish tuk tuk ride from Galle) . Excellent food and friendly staff. The hotel has a beautiful pool (the sea near the hotel is not really suitable for swimming although it does look wonderful). The hotel is on a main road, although you can't hear the traffic. Recommended.
Palinda and his crew were without fault. Amazing service and so friendly and polite. Fragipani Tree is a truly heavenly place with beautiful and immaculately kept grounds. It is fronted by a virtually private beach and a wonderfully warm sea. In all perfect.

Good location, beautiful 180-degree view, spacious rooms, large bathroom. The swimming pool is quite small, but the place is rather old, the rooms are old, but the service is good.
Great hotel. Had a great time. Nice pool. Great view from the mountain. Ocean view from the window.
We stayed at this hotel for one night. We were greeted with a welcome drink and checked into our room fairly quickly. The room was large enough, but not clean enough. The bathroom was very disappointing because it was dirty. We couldn't fill the jacuzzi for an hour. The location is good (the hotel is in the mountains), but it's very difficult to get there by tuk-tuk, and there are no cafes nearby,...
I liked the pool and the sun loungers that doubled as beds. It was comfortable to swim in the pool and get some work done during the day. The room was a bit tired, but it had a sea view. The breakfast was overly salty (they didn't offer me an alternative). Overall, it was okay for a couple of nights.
We had a lovely stay, I would recommend it.

It is a very good hotel and the people here it is very kind, the room it is to big and the vibrations hotel it is the best..recommended to anyone
Gorgeous little hotel nestled into the small town. The staff were all absolutely lovely, the hotel and rooms were all gorgeous, super clean, and comfortable. We did yoga in the space over the restaurant our first morning which was a great start to the day! Lots of great restaurants around right on the beach! 10/10 recommend!
The hotel staff are warm and friendly Very spacious room Breakfast food quality is very delicious The location is close to the train station, very convenient The shower room is exposed, I am a little afraid that small animals will enter😜
There is a family of black monkeys living on the hotel grounds, it's amazing! Great location, quite clean
Nice Hotel that needs better upkeep Nice facility, our room was fairly unique with some fake rock. Our daughter's room had a cool outdoor bathtub. Beautiful place, nice room even with a jacuzzi, privat beach. Friendly staff. Good breakfast we could use outside direct besides the beach.
I recently spent two nights in this hotel.. The Bad: hotel decor is very dated. Colour schemes and furniture and in particular the Jazuzzi bath in bathroom are really archaic. Our stay at Cocobay was absolutely incredible! The staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming, always going above and beyond. The breathtaking ocean views made every moment unforgettable. Highly recommend
The place is lovely, the service is hard but a little unreliable. Clean, welcoming, the room is large and the space is comfortable. It is 2 kilometers away from the ancient city, but it is also very fast to call a taxi.
The experience of this hotel is average. First of all, the hygiene of the room is average. The bathroom has a bit of smell. Secondly, the towels don't look very clean. I was woken up by mosquito bites in the middle of the night and saw dozens of mosquito bites on my feet. It's really unbearable. I haven't had such a bad experience in so many days. Had a wonderful day at Angel Beach. The place is beautifully set right by the ocean, with a relaxed beach vibe that makes it perfect for spending a slow day by the water. The cocktails were especially great for a hot beach day. Staff were friendly...
Pizza Margherita was very nice. Spicy chicken burger was average. Passion fruit mojitos were averages. We went on a Thursday around 8pm and outdoor seating was unusually dark. Nice outdoor decor’s and plenty of seating. Doesn’t worth the hype.
We visited Angel Beach Unawatuna in 2021 with a group of friends, and it was a truly memorable experience. We went to grab lunch here, and this place is super overpriced. It's packed with foreigner, more than locals and most of their dishes are not very flavourful. Their butter chicken and naan is very good, pizzas are also nice. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend anything else on the menu. Their cocktails seem decent. Lovely setting. Needs some tlc though. Rooms clean but pool areas need work and modernising. The bar is dated and breakfast was pasta, or mashed potatoes, which is strange. The only downside is that it is full of Russians and no other nationalities. The owner is lovely and friendly and most of the staff are nice. Added bonus is the monkeys that came to visit most days
We stayed 3 nights and it was a nice experience. House keeping were really good. Mr. Lalith helped with food. Malith helped to clean the room. Kishor helped to move our luggages. All staff is well trained and clean rooms. Only issue was the breakfast didn’t had much variety. Every day same menu. It should have atleast hopper corner or string hoppers, omelet, waffles. But overall it was great
Two very nice clean pool and sunbeds always available. The downside to this hotel is in my eyes they don't cater for UK citizens. Breakfast is entirely for the many Russian guests.....everything with cabbage and as for the fruit juice....I would love to know what flavour it is supposed to be........ We were there for 4 days and never heard another English voice....

One of the nicest places we stayed in Sri Lanka in terms of value. Rooms are simply fantastic - excellent size, well designed. The land has direct access to the ocean and a little beach in front of it. Also has a great gym. Food is excellent here. Service is the absolutely best.

Very good location, you can take a 10 min walk to the beach, but the hotel does not have blankets, so that's something you need to bring for youself if you need a blanket to sleep at night. They only provide a very thin bedsheet.
The hotel staff were friendly and approachable. Food from the hotel kitchen tasted good and was well priced. Rooms were clean and there was a pool just outside my room. It was possible to clearly hear people playing in the pool, or eating by the room, when I was in my room. This was not an issue for me bu if you need more privacy, I would recommend looking for a room further away from the pool.
My stay at Hotel J Unawatuna was very enjoyable and comfortable. The hotel is located in a great spot, close to the beach and main attractions, making it easy to explore Unawatuna. Maybe it's due to the environmental conditions in Galle, but this place is comparable to a 100-yuan hotel back home.
I really liked the hotel; it's cozy, neat, and clean. I'd especially like to mention the staff; they were very polite, respectful, and customer-focused. There's a swimming pool and a small restaurant. The beach is a 25-minute walk away, and it's beautiful. There's a good minimarket across from the hotel, which is very convenient. We had a lovely stay in Sea Cloud Hotel. The manager was very helpful, gave us a very nice welcome and explained lots of things. Bonus for staying in the hotel was that it was about 4 mins walk from a really nice beach. The beach is protected from the waves because of a reef about 50m out from the shore. I am in pleasure to direct the hotel, a glamorous place of comfort and the sun kissed beach view not only, very calm and quiet environment, but also, very friendly and hospitable service by the hotel staff as well. The rates are also very reasonable and foods are delicious. "Wish the chairman and the hotel staff all the success."
Had a room on the top floor and it was amazing. Balcony over looked the beach. The room looked and felt clean. The cabanas on the beach were comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. We loved staying here and would come back here anytime.
It was a good stay. The room was comfortable and clean. However, there are a few things that need to be addressed. There are no plug points, except just 2, into which the bedside lamps were plugged in. No place to plug any computer or even a phone charger unless you have a multi socket adapter. Breakfast was good and generous.
Fabulous stay. Few minutes walk to the beach and many great restaurants nearby. Lovely breakfast and all staff really friendly. Powercuts were a bit of a pain but once the generator kicked in it wasn’t a problem. Breakfast was good, breakfast was until 11am & we don’t do early but we never felt rushed. The hotel was booked out but the owner was able to find us a room with our own private bathroom. The bathroom was outdoors just around the corner from our bedroom. The AC unit was broken upon arrival, although it took awhile to fix, the owner took prompt action and was very kind to us. The experience started poor but better throughout our stay.
We were originally planning a couple's trip, so we chose this option. It turned out to be the perfect choice! Decent grounds and responsive staff. The manager is always on top of things, taking care of guests. Individual attention is given to each guest's needs 24/7. The shared kitchen and family atmosphere are a delight! There's a spa and massage salon on site, and a bar with everything you need is...
The hotel is nice from the outside, in the rooms there are ants running on the beds! The location is good - to the main road - 300-500 meters, to the sea 500 meters

Excellent! Came here with the kids instead of Kai ahangama and so glad we stayed local. Pool, service and food all excellent! Looks better than photos and great cocktails. Clean toilets and friendly staff. Think it’s 2000 for a bed or eat and get one free
Staff, location, food. Straight access to beach.
Service and food was amazing. Rooms could have had shampoo, conditioner and maybe body soap. I stayed 5 nights and my room wasn’t cleaned once. The hotel was under construction with no notice prior. They have no pool but one is coming. No room service. Beautiful boutique style accommodation. Not 1000’s of people like a few properties along.
The hotel is in a great location on the beachfront, currently only about quarter of rooms available due to the others being upgraded, this has not been an issue with noise. Rooms are spacious and well equipped and cleaned daily with supplies restocked, all rooms face beach but not necessarily have views due to the trees Breakfast has been good each morning, other foods ordered have been really good...
I travel a lot (I've been to 100 plus countries and am fairly flexible) and I found this hotel disappointing compared to my expectations. The staff was friendly and it's right on the beach. Our room was nice and large and had a great shower and looked out to the beach however the main curtain over the front window didn't work and was down the entire we were there. They attempted to fix it and briefly...
I love Kingfisher hotel. The food is excellent & the staff are fabulous. I think they need to do the software upgrades to the TV,s as I was not able to watch Netflix with my own account.

A good villa if you're planning to stay near a small, clean beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the only drawback is the air conditioning, which blows directly on the beds.
The location has a perfect view of the city, and is in close proximity to Jungle Beach which has a great atmosphere and is a lovely cove with shallow waves to safely enjoy with your family. The atmosphere of the place itself is quiet and undisturbed. As it is far from the city, the air feels clean and rejuvenating. You are surrounded by visually appealing greenery with comfortable outdoor furniture...
The closest to you'll get to the wonderful Jungle Beach. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful, with TukTuks, doing our washing and getting the pool ready for our use. The garden is fantastic, as are the views out over the bay. Jungle Baech is a five minute walk away.
Pros: Beautiful view Friendly owners of the accommodation Wi-Fi and air conditioning in the room Cons: Far to Unawatuna beach, either 20 minutes walk through the jungle over rocks or a detour by tuk-tuk Tuk-tuks are reluctant to go up the mountain where the accommodation is located No safe in the room No amenities for washing Very weak water pressure
The Villa Baywatch is a very small hotel set in the most spectacular gardens. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable and an ensuite with shower. They are equipped with tea & coffee making facilities and a fridge. The area is very quiet, a short walk to Jungle Beach and a tuktuk ride to Unawatatuna. There is also a small but essential swimming pool. The staff are lovely and the breakfast is excellent...
Excellent food and service. Lovely family holiday. We will definitely go back again soon.
