Waterland in Negombo

We only stayed for one night, wish it was more! Great location, beautiful room with a huge bathroom. The staff were great and a chef freshly preparing breakfast by our table! Peaceful with a wonderful view of the lake.

We just stayed here one night upon our arrival into Sri Lanka and wish we had stayed another night. The hotel is lovely and quiet and only has about four villas by the river just outside of Negombo. We stayed in the elephant villa which was great and the bathroom was amazing with fish and a ceiling shower. The staff even brought us dinner on our own patio which was nice and the soup I remember was delicious. All the staff were very friendly and I would highly recommend staying here if you want a quiet relaxing stay.

A beautiful small hotel in a perfect setting run by wonderful people. We are frequent visitors to Sri Lanka and have never stayed in a more charming place - we’re looking forward to returning there.

What a marvellous stay! We enjoyed our amazing villa, beautifully arranged with our own pool and a terrasse to relax, watch the river or practicing yoga. The comfort was very high, we slept like babies! Great beds! The service was great, welcoming and open hearted. The food was delicious! We also enjoyed walking in the village and go to the seaside! Thanks to all of you!!

Fantastic Experience. Staff were great, with nothing being too much trouble. Quiet location next to a river. Food was great, portions too large for us! Rooms were great with a plunge pool, very clean. Hotel would arrange drivers to Negombo near by or use a local app. For me it was great value and a great experience, we had the monsoon 3 bed villa

This otel was well thought through in the main. The staff were wonderful with a very responsive manager in charge. The villas were convenient to the main reception and dining area. The room was large, well thought through with suitable charging points, more TV channels than I'd seen anywhere else on my trip in Sri Lanka and very clean. The bathroom was large and interesting with a goldfish pool in it, not for use for a pedicure. Boiled and bottle water and lentil snacks were provided daily. The view from the windows across the infinity pool to the river and plantation beyond was beautiful and relaxing. The pool use instructions were clear and it was very clean with lighting for evening use. It was well concealed from the adjacent villas. There was some entertainment from the boats on the river including Sunday church boats with brass bands playing. There was loud hymn singing via loudspeaker early one morning, but then it went quiet. The only disappointment was the restaurant menu. It was restricted, no chillis apparently to protect the guests but this is weird for a country like Sri Lanka and very disappointing. The food was fairly boring, grilled food was tasteless, burnt and in the case of the chicken stringy and tough due to being cut incorrectly. By the third day I gave up and resorted to eating mushroom soup and garlic bread. The cocktails were excellent though and room service extremely quick. A pleasant place but eat out including breakfast at the airport.

We had an amazing stay at Waterland Hotel. The service was outstanding, and the staff took great care of us throughout. The hotel is well-maintained, peaceful, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The boat ride was a great highlight, and the food was absolutely delicious. We truly enjoyed our stay! Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort and quality service.

*Wonderful Stay at Waterland Hotel – Monsoon Villaל, Negombo* We stayed at *Waterland Hotel in Negombo* in the *Monsoon Family Villa* for two nights. We were a family group: parents and three grown-up children. The hotel staff were kind and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. The location is peaceful, not in the city center, and right next to the Dutch Canal. The rooms were spacious, clean, and had a private pool. Breakfast was excellent – it's recommended to pre-order special dishes from the menu the evening before. Dinner was very tasty, and we especially recommend the local Sri Lankan dishes. In the morning, we went for a walk and visited the local fish market. We also took a family boat ride from the hotel along the Dutch Canal for $55. We saw interesting wildlife, and our guide, Medzara from the hotel, was wonderful. The hotel features a billiards table over 100 years old. We met Mark, the hotel owner, who was very friendly and shared stories about the place. There are also bicycles available – it’s a good idea to request them in advance so they can be prepared. We warmly recommend the hotel! Please note: as a hotel policy, a 10% service charge is added for services provided. This tip is shared among the entire hotel staff – and it’s well deserved!

What a fantastic time we had here. This was really the most beautiful room during our entire tour. The private pool in the living room is great. We had a very early flight and were given breakfast packages. The staff is very friendly and are always there for you. We also had dinner in this hotel in the evening and it was delicious.
