We had a lovely 2 days in this hotel. The staff were polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spacious and clean and the food was lovely. Best breakfast we had in Sri Lanka and a great cup of English breakfast tea! We had clear vegetable soup one evening and it was really delicious. 10 minutes from the rock and a snack was provided for us before we went at 5am. The pool was dated and not many loungers but it wasn’t a big issue as we were out most of the time we were there. The billiards table and sitting area in the evening was nice. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

We family of four from Chennai, India stayed here on 26th July. Place is calm, very spacious, neatly maintained... More than that great team of people headed by Mr Roshan (think correctly i remember his name) We opted for half board... (much needed for places like this. Otherwise you need much much trained people to locate good restaurant) Both dinner and breakfast served by them will be in our memory ... a full course, served with so love ❤️ 😍 Thanks for the team... and also owner & creator of this facility

An excellent place to stay.The staff at the hotel were very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble.The accommodation are like back to back cottages.Very homely and quite quaint. My wife and I were with 5 family members 3 being children and they were also made up with the place.The food was good so nothing to complain about would highly recommend anyone going to Sigirya to give the hotel a try .

During our SrI Lanka tour, we stayed in two rooms with half board. Rooms are comfy and large, what this property calls 'rooms' others would most likely advertise as 'villas'. Parts of the small pool could use some renovation but overall did not disturb us and we enjoyed it a lot. The main asset of this property however was the super friendly staff that went out of its way to make our stay truly memorable with the Restaurant Manager mr Rathnayaka really making a difference for us. No matter when or what or where, we would find him ready to serve our every need - a fine person and a real example of excellent customer service - also this property is really blessed with an excellent chef that prepares great dishes and is very flexible - thanks a lot we will definitely stay here again if we come back to Sigiriya.

We stayed three nights here at the beginning of January 2025 and the rooms were so wonderfully spacious and the grounds beautiful, manicured, and lush. Actually, the rooms are like individual villas, so privacy is great, and they have a porch we used to have our morning tea. It was important for us to have a large room because one of us is working. The pool was wonderful (and chlorinated, which is not often the case around Sri Lanka). The included breakfast was great (choice of Sri Lankan or Western and we tried both). The staff were pleasant and it was so easy to get around. The room was ~$50 a night so I feel this place is a steal compared to so many other places we checked out (there were a few $20 places that were so far out, and there were a few more 'western' places but they were $100-$260, which was more than what we wanted to pay because we are traveling for a month (and its not Europe LOL). Great value and nice place.

We had an awesome stay at the Royal Retreat for 2 nights. It was a family outing with a mix group of 3 generations and everyone had a good time. Rooms were clean and spacious, food was delicious, location is close to the Lion's rock and most of all the service was superb. From reception to room service to the restaurant, all staff were so nice, polite and helpful. For us, the superstar was Pradeep, who is the housekeeping manager. From confirming our reservation at 10pm to arranging early check-in (even without our request) and accommodating our food preferences to arranging transportation, he made sure we had a perfect stay. Above all he went out of his way to get a customized cake for my cousin & his girlfriend with a couple of hours of notice. Thank you once again to the management and the staff at Royal Retreat, Sigiriya for making our stay extra special.

Very well established Hotel with very good staff, We found the real sri lankan hospitality from the time of my first call until the departure Two girls in the reception, restaurant staff including Security found very attentive, everyone speak with the real Sri Lankan warmth & smile. All credit goes to the staff. Room cleaning is ok but certain areas need attention such as kobwebs found in bathroom ceiling. Overall this is a nice Hotel & will be back for sure

Our guide/driver knew of this place and took us there after our tour of Sigiriya Rock. It was very clean and pleasant atmosphere and tasty food. It’s a rather large dining room, so tours could be accommodated pretty easily. Our driver told us that the owner used to be a tour driver himself. We ordered the fried rice lunch plates and ginger beers. The fried rice was tasty and they had homemade chili spice that enhanced the flavors. And if you haven’t tasted the Sri Lanka ginger beer, you’re in for a sweet and ginger-y treat!
