Great location to experience Sigiriya. I got to spend 4 wonderful days here and make it my base camp while I explored everything in the area. Ruchira at the front desk made sure I had the best information of where/when to go. Kumara and Akash are great companions to take you on elephant safaris and Lion rock. The complimentary breakfast is a great way to taste real Sri Lankan breakfast staples. Miss this place already!

We have stayed at Sunshine resort & Spa for a total of 3 nights. The team is very caring and welcoming, supported us with our travel plans and even made it possible to do to elephant safari the same day. The room was spacious, shower warm and clean, furthermore the hotel provides great scenery on the rice fields nearby and is a short walk to the lion rock.

Really enjoyed it.

I stayed here with my mom in September and I can highly recommend sunshine resort & spa Sigiriya. The location is great, the main sights are close and reachable by foot. The rooms are big and clean. The main reason why to stay here is the owner tho. He would literally do anything to make his customers happy. He’s working very hard to fulfill any wishes you mention to him, if it’s a drive to a nearby spa, if it’s organizing trips to nearby sights or anything else. All in all highly recommend and I’ve seen a lot.

Great location, within walking distance of lions rock and pidurangala rock (slightly further but doable) and close to restaurants. Breakfast was really great (fresh fruit, eggs, hoppers, coconut rolled pancake type thing and coffee). Rooms were spacious and the staff were very accommodating and warm. They also offered a really great price for a private drive to polonnaruwa and within the site as well. The only downside to this place is that across the street plays loud music until about 11pm. I hadn’t seen that in any reviews I read prior to booking.

Main issue was upon arrival, we were arriving around 8pm at Negombo airport and was expecting to arrive at the hotel around midnight, I had already pre warned the hotel on Hotels.com about our arrival time and was told that this would not be an issue as someone would be there. On our arrival dark, late at night and in heavy rain we found all the lights switched off and nobody around. We walked around trying to see if anyone was there but they weren't. Luckily, we managed to find the bar across the road just closing up and they let us stay there while they contacted everyone that they could. Eventually the manager woke up and was able to check us in, but said that they don't see the messages on Hotels.com as the owner is based in the UK??? If so, somebody needs to relay messages from hotels.com to the actual hotel.

After this, we experienced very little issues, the breakfast was amazing, and the location was great to do everything we did. They also provide a taxi service and took us to our next stop in Kandy via Dambulla which was very much appreciated.

The rooms were adequate, windows were thin so you do hear every single noise of the jungle (some would see this as a positive), and the bed was comfy.

If we were to arrive at a normal time, I'm sure we would have no issues at all. If you are thinking of booking here and potentially will arrive outside of normal check in hours, please check directly with the hotel that they will be available for you!!!

The hotel is very close to Sigeria, which is the main priority! Clean room, friendly hosts, everything works properly, good breakfasts, parking on site. There are many cafes, bars and shops nearby

This hotel was in an excellent location. It was nearby restaurants and amenities. We had a pleasant stay except for an issue with the laundry service which was not up to par. Would advise travellers to clarify the no of items and weight of laundry before getting hotel to do it. Laundry was returned to us partially wet and a sock was missing n never found. We were asked to pay more as they claimed that our laundry exceeded the weight. It would have been good to have been informed first. It was unfortunate that the end of stay was disappointing due to this incident. The hotel manager was not very professional in handling the matter. ☹️

Don't book this hotel, they are scammers! When I arrived at the hotel, they told me that there were no rooms, and they resold me to another small hotel. From the reviews, I know that they are repeat offenders. I don't understand why the Ctrip platform didn't deal with it. They said there was a problem with the room, but it still showed that there were rooms online, and they didn't mention that there were no rooms when I called to inquire before arriving. It was a deliberate deception. If travel time was not precious, I really wanted to argue with them. The conditions of the small hotel they resold were much worse, and I couldn't even take a hot shower. Scammers!
