Nivadoo Resort Sigiriya in Sigiriya

This was the only Chinese-owned hotel on my Sri Lanka trip, and I also had my only Chinese dinner there. It was a bit like a group tour meal in China, but the foreign chef's cooking wasn't quite authentic. However, it didn't affect the overall enjoyment; being able to have a group meal abroad was already quite good. The hotel also has a swimming pool, and each room offers excellent privacy. I hope the hotel continues to improve.

Great location, right near Sigiriya Lion Rock. The facilities are excellent, especially the unique tent rooms and the pool. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a good variety of options. Lunch and dinner are also available, offering both Chinese and Western dishes at reasonable prices and good taste. The owners are a Chinese couple, very warm and welcoming, always ready to chat and offer tips and help!

The double room we booked actually looked like it could accommodate three people. The cleanliness was acceptable, but the room was a bit cramped and the lighting was dim. In December, Sri Lanka is only around 20 degrees Celsius, so the pool was too hot to use. We had dinner at the hotel on our first day. The restaurant was open until 9:30 PM and had a variety of menus. Golden mangoes cost 400 rupees, double the price of other restaurants. We ordered stir-fried seafood with rice, which turned out to be a seafood rice bowl. We really couldn't get used to the rice here; it always tasted undercooked. The rice was a major disappointment. We also ordered a mixed grill, which was a disaster. All the chicken, beef, and fish were dry and tough, and the shrimp wasn't fresh. However, the portions were huge, especially the fried rice we ordered. The restaurant also charges a 10% service fee.

This hotel is small but equipped with everything you need, there's even a swimming pool.

Its about 10 mins to lion rock via tuktuk (little hard for us to get uber) but the hotel can organise tuktuk which makes it easy.

Staff are friendly and attentive.

Room was small but beautiful and clean. The only thing they needed to improve was the service at the restaurant. They got our order wrong. But they were ever so sorry about it. The rest was ok.

The hotel has a very friendly reception and exceptional service staff, which creates a very positive first impression. The pool area is lovely, surrounded by lush vegetation and equipped with hammocks perfect for relaxing in the sun.
The path to the bungalows and small apartments is adorned with well-kept gardens, full of life, where you can observe squirrels and birds. This connection with nature makes the stay really special and enjoyable.
The interior of the room is incredibly spacious, with two huge and very pretty beds. We appreciated the detail of the flowers that were left for us; it really adds a special and pleasant touch to the stay. It has a small terrace, which is perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the surroundings. Spending time there was great. The bathroom is also very spacious.
As for breakfast, I think they should improve the Western options a bit to live up to the category of their facilities. It is a small sacrifice that they could easily improve. The only negative detail was the internet connection, which failed us on several occasions. We had to call reception twice to have the connection checked, which was a bit of a pain.
However, it should be noted that the hotel is a bit far from the nightlife; you need to walk about 15 minutes along the road to reach the restaurants where you can dine. Despite this, the tranquility of the place makes up for the minor inconvenience.
In short, the hotel's ambiance, along with its attention to detail and the natural beauty that surrounds it, all contribute to a memorable experience.
