Aside from being located in the city center near the Temple of the Tooth Relic, this place is terrible. The soundproofing is poor, the air conditioner is running all night, the blackout curtains on the balcony door can't block out the light, there are no blankets, only sheets, and they smell like detergent...

This would have been an easy 4-star stay if not for a couple of issues: The bathroom/toilet lock wasn’t working. Since we were a family, we didn’t complain and managed, but this could be a dealbreaker for some. The bathroom dustbin knob was broken, so I had to lift the lid manually to throw things away. We stayed in Room 304 during the last week of January for just one night. Here’s our take on the positives and negatives: Positives ✅ Location – Right in the middle of the main city. If you're active and fit, you can easily walk to Kandy Lake and the Temple of the Tooth Relic in about 10 minutes. Plenty of eateries and stores around. ✅ The Room – Clean room and bathroom, fresh towels, a mini fridge (though empty), a spacious almirah, chairs, and a kettle for hot water. ✅ Breakfast – The staff made our breakfast experience great, even with a limited menu. We got eggs, fruits, juice, coffee, and some Sri Lankan cuisine—perfect to start the day! ✅ Wi-Fi – Decent and worked fine for us. We didn’t try the TV. There’s also a lift for easy access to rooms. ✅ The Staff – Very welcoming and friendly. Deen at the restaurant knew Hindi, which was an added bonus. Manju at the reception was super helpful. Negatives 🚫 Apart from the two issues mentioned earlier, here are a few more things to keep in mind: There’s no restaurant in the hotel. Plastic bags in the dustbins would have been useful. The room felt quite dull at night—could definitely use some brighter lighting. However, in the morning, it felt much more pleasant and comfortable. Final Verdict Overall, this was a good choice for a one-night stay. If the minor issues are fixed, it could easily be a solid 4-star experience!

The room is spacious and clean, and the surrounding dining and shopping are convenient

Even when I turned the water up to its hottest setting, it was still lukewarm and cold.
The hotel staff were kind and helped me out when I forgot how to lock the door.

the stay was totally great, very clean and quiet. but one thing, i couldn’t get hot shower in my room. It wasn’t cold water, but neither hot water.

We had an overall good experience with this hotel. Breakfast is the best if compared to the other three hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka. They give each person a full fruit platter, an omelet, a yogurt, and toast with jam and juice, along with a hot beverage. I am usually picky, but I felt that the breakfast (that was included in the price of the daily hotel stay deserved a 5. The only drawback would be the thin windows that allowed the street noise to come through. The staff and the manager were friendly. The staff was very accommodating.

A nice clean hotel in the heart of Kandy. Be aware the hotel is in the busy less touristy part of the city, so don’t expect amazing views and activities on the door step. The owner was very helpful in arranging our transport and the rooms were well air conditioned and spotlessly clean.

Not sure where all the positive reviews are coming from to be honest. We found this place to be very tired, run down and a bit grubby. The photos on here are VERY flattering. Particularly the bathroom need a good deep clean/refurb. The bed collapsed on one side when I got in. Some power points didn't work. Bedding had holes in and looked older than I am. We checked out early and left for the coast. Seems very expensive for what you get - must be better in Kandy

Based on my experience, I would definitely suggest to avoid this place! I booked here through an online travel agency. Not only the booking was regularly confirmed, but also the hotel explicitly confirmed me that it was possible to check in between 10 and 11pm. Nevertheless, when I arrived, around 10pm, I was told that my room was given to someone else (!!). This is already not optimal, but I am aware that mistakes can definitely happen. The problem is what happened later. First of all, there was no reprotection. Instead of finding another hotel for me, as I would have expected, the receptionist did almost nothing, as he said he wasn’t authorized by his manager to give me any support, and neither he was able to find his manager by phone. He just suggested me to go myself on foot to ask for a room to some neighboring hotels. All of this, despite public lighting wasn't working that night, so the whole city was scarily dark and almost desert. So basically I ended up asking him to use the phone of the hotel (which wasn’t even working very well) and solving the issue myself, spending 1 hour at phone with the travel agency, till they finally found an alternative solution. Secondly, while I was there trying to find alternative accommodations, I wasn’t even offered a chair to seat, despite I was standing right in front of the receptionist, while on phone. Once I finally seated, after >30min at the phone, it was just cause I asked him for the chair. He didn’t even offer me some water, except when I was already about to leave. I also felt zero empathy. Thirdly, when the travel agency finally found me an alternative hotel, I wasn’t even offered a taxi or tuk tuk to reach the other hotel. Just nothing, as if it was all my own issue. Overall, despite the mistake done by the hotel, I felt they did almost nothing to solve it, and they also treated me quite badly. Got three suggestions for the management: 1. Try to avoid these mistakes 2. Empower the staff to handle these situations: they must have the possibility and the budget to re-protect the guests, as well as to pay for the transfer to the new hotel. Leaving staff alone, with no power and budget to solve basic unexpected issues, is never a smart managerial choice! 3. Train the staff to show some more empathy

Ideal for our one night stop over. Very friendly staff, central location and clean with very good washroom. Sri Lankan Premier Inn Trip advisor wants at least 200 characters so I could mention something else but not much more to say other than
